Before Xu Yanfeng could answer, Xia Xi denied his words: "That shouldn't be the case. Even if you didn't tell him, Fu Li is from Nanjing University. Everyone in the school should know that. Didn't Fu Li tell him?"
Xu Yanfeng did not specifically tell his childhood friends about it. He was not the kind of person who liked to announce his private affairs everywhere, but he would not deliberately cover them up. Over time, they would find out for themselves.
For example, today, he brought Xia Xi over and did not keep a distance from her. He held her hand. As long as his childhood friends were not blind, they would be able to see the clue in a moment.
Xu Yanfeng pondered for a moment and came up with a guess: "Fu Li knew about it, and he even came to me to verify it. But he's a tight-lipped person and rarely talks about gossip with others, so he probably didn't tell anyone."
Xia Xi nodded and understood.
Under the parasol outside, Ling Yan had already stood up. Her expression changed several times, and her eyes were fixed on the clasped hands of Xu Yanfeng and Xia Xi. Her two sisters were equally surprised. They moved closer to Ling Yan and pulled her arms. "How could this happen? When did Xu Yanfeng get together with that girl? What's he thinking? Has he really been bewitched by a vixen?"
They have been friends with Ling Yan for many years and are aware of her feelings for Xu Yanfeng. Naturally, they stand by her side unconditionally and speak up for her.
"That girl is obviously a foxy woman. No matter how smart Xu Yanfeng is, he probably hasn't seen those tricks before. He was just deceived for a moment. When he wakes up, he will know who is his perfect match."
"Yan Yan, don't be sad. Maybe he's just playing around. You and him are the most suitable for each other. You're a perfect match and grew up together. That girl is nothing."
"Yeah, you should be more open-minded."
The two little sisters tried to comfort Lingyan one after another, fearing that she would lose her composure and be laughed at.
Ling Yan placed one hand on the white folding wooden table beside her, barely steadying herself. She took a deep breath, but couldn't suppress the bitterness surging in her chest. Her eyes quickly misted over, and the area around them turned blood red.
"Don't cry." The little sister was so anxious that she stood in front of her, holding her face and wiping the corners of her eyes. "If someone sees you, you'll be at a disadvantage. You are the eldest daughter of the Ling family, how can you be at a disadvantage in front of that girl? We are just starting out now. I don't believe they can really achieve a happy ending. The one who laughs last is the winner. You haven't lost yet."
I have to say that Lingyan's little sister is very good at comforting people. After a few words, Lingyan's emotions stabilized a lot, and her tears did not flow out of her eyes. They were forced back.
She also wanted to save face and dignity, and didn't want to make herself too embarrassed in front of Xia Xi and be looked down upon by her.
Ling Yan forced a smile that was uglier than crying: "I'm fine."
She just couldn't understand why it was Xia Xi.
In her mind, Xia Xi's failure to confess his love meant she was out. How come it happened to be her?
Last time at Xu Yanfeng's villa, she was dedicated to finding the girl he liked, and was the first to exclude Xia Xi. But in the end, apart from Xia Xi, there was no other girl for Xu Yanfeng to make an exception.
He jumped into the water to save her, took her to the private area upstairs, and drove her there personally... All the signs explained the problem, but unfortunately she turned a blind eye and failed to see the reality.
The scene before her caught her off guard and she was completely unprepared.
Of the people present, besides Xu Yanfeng and Xia Xi, the two parties involved, only Fu Li knew about it. Tang Yizhou and Luo Jinnan were no less surprised than Ling Yan, but without Ling Yan's complex emotions, they were simply stunned.
Tang Yizhou pointed his golf club at Xu Yanfeng: "You... and her..."
Xu Yanfeng introduced generously: "Xia Xi, you know her. She's my girlfriend."
Tang Yizhou found it difficult to connect Xu Yanfeng with the words "my girlfriend." The fact that someone as unassuming as him actually had a girlfriend was truly unexpected. He looked at Xia Xi again, his eyes filled with meaning, devoid of any kindness. He subjectively assumed she was scheming, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to win over someone as difficult as Xu Yanfeng.
"If I had known you were bringing your girlfriend, I would have brought her too." Tang Yizhou smiled. "You're the only one who goes out with a partner, making everyone else look like a loner."
Xu Yanfeng took the club from the caddy and swung it casually. Even without any warm-up exercises, his shot was already very accurate. "It's not too late for you to call someone over now."
Tang Yizhou: "That's not necessary."
Xu Yanfeng picked up another golf club, weighed it in his hand, patted Xia Xi on the back, and asked in a low voice: "Will I teach you?"
Xia Xi didn't want to disturb his interest: "You play first, and then teach me later."
"Okay, call me if you need anything."
Xia Xi took a few steps back and turned to walk under the parasol.
Ling Yan had calmed down, her expression expressionless. She sat on a chair, the two sisters squatting beside her, one on each side, like guardians. Having met them a few times before, Xia Xi didn't ignore them. She waved a finger and greeted them naturally, "Hi."
Ling Yan's eyes lingered on her coat, and she twitched her lip in response. Her two sisters were filled with righteous indignation, rolling their eyes behind Xia Xi's back, muttering, "What are you so proud of..."
Xia Xi didn't hear it. He grabbed a chair and sat down, crossed his legs, and put his elbows on the armrests of the chair, watching Xu Yanfeng play basketball.
The sunlight was dim, obscured by thick clouds, but he shone brightly. Xia Xi rested his chin on the back of his hand, watching intently, occasionally raising his phone to take pictures.
Ling Yan's sisters couldn't stand Xia Xi's composure, feeling she was showing off the more she acted like this. "Your name is Xia Xi, right? I remember last seeing you, also at this golf course, as a caddy. I'm a little curious, how did you get to know Master Xu?"
