There were noises in the dormitory. My roommates woke up. Some were lying in bed looking at their phones with headphones on, some were getting out of bed to wash up in the bathroom, and some were muttering to themselves about what to eat for lunch.
In the carefree days, the biggest problem is what to eat for three meals a day.
Xia Xi sat quietly, time passed by little by little, she finally thought it through and made a decision, picked up the mobile phone on the table, the time showed 10:15 am.
Xu Yanfeng has no days off and is still busy on weekends. His father gradually delegates power to him, and he is either in the company or on business trips.
He just came back from a business trip and should be at the company today. Lately, she had been completely preoccupied with family matters and had ignored him, not even asking about his whereabouts.
Xia Xi held the phone, rested her chin on the top of the phone, and lowered her eyes in thought. He should not refuse if she asked him for help. She knew his family background very well, so this would not be a difficult thing for him to do.
At worst, she could write him an IOU and work like a slave to repay him. She was still young and smart, and she would earn double the money in the future.
He even transferred his shares in Xu's company to her as a birthday present.
Xia Xi straightened out her thoughts, raised her chin, placed her phone flat, and opened Xu Yanfeng's chat dialog box. After a pause, she poked the screen with her finger and typed four words: "What are you doing?"
Before long, Xu Yanfeng replied with four words: "Video conference."
Xia Xi leaned her hands on both sides of the chair, staring at the screen, intending to wait until he was done before talking.
However, two seconds later, Xu Yanfeng sent another message. Even the brief text showed his gentle indulgence: "If you have something to say, just tell me. It's okay."
He wasn't trying to coax her; it really didn't matter. Even though it was a cross-border video conference, the person on the other end was his brother, a biological brother from the same mother. There weren't so many rules to follow.
Xia Xi didn't know this, and just wanted to avoid disturbing him from doing his work: "Pay attention in the meeting, don't be distracted. It's hard to explain in a few words."
Xu Yanfeng thought for a moment and replied, "It may take a long time." It would take at least two hours to finish the conversation. This meeting mainly involved a biomedical project worth tens of billions of dollars, and many details needed to be coordinated.
Xia Xi could wait: "It's okay, I'll wait until you're done."
