The door of the box was pushed open. Unlike the luxurious box they were staying in, this one was slightly smaller. The front was the meeting and entertainment area, and behind the partition glass door was the rest area with a bed and a sofa.
The glass on the partition door is colorful and covered with uneven patterns, so you can't see inside when standing outside.
Xu Yanfeng walked around the door and saw a scene he would never forget. Xia Xi, bare-armed, was entangled with Zhou Du on the snow-white bed. Unpacked family planning supplies lay on the carpet beside the bed.
Startled by the noise, the two people turned their heads at the same time, the surprise and panic on their faces were so glaring.
Xu Yanfeng's pupils contracted and then dilated, and the scene before him overlapped with the scene deep in his memory.
He was very young then, just over eight, and hadn't celebrated his ninth birthday because his teacher had sent him home early due to an allergic reaction to beef he'd eaten. The house was quiet, with the housekeeper and babysitter away. He was wandering around alone when he heard a noise coming from his parents' room. He pushed open the half-closed door and froze in his tracks.
Xu Guanshan noticed it, propped himself up from the bed, and looked at him through the half-open door.
That was the first time he saw anything like panic on his father's face.
The young woman, with her upper body exposed, put her arms around Xu Guanshan's neck and asked him in a soft voice what was wrong.
He called that woman Aunt Zhai, Xu Guanshan's secretary, whom he had met many times. She was kind to him, and whenever she came to his house to deliver documents to him, she would also give him a few books, his favorite adventure novels.
He felt sick, stepped back, and hurried downstairs. He accidentally fell down the stairs and hit his elbow on the edge of the step, breaking it and having to wear a cast for a month.
When Zhong Yinghong came back from her mother's house, she was so heartbroken that she burst into tears. She held his little face and said, "Why are you so careless? You are a grown boy, but you still fall down the stairs."
He didn't say anything.
At first, he couldn't say it, and later he just couldn't open his mouth at all. Zhong Yinghong still doesn't know it.
He injured his right elbow. In order not to affect his studies, he always wrote secretly behind Zhong Yinghong's back, which caused the bone to not grow well. There is still a strange bulge on his elbow.
In his cognition, his parents were loving. When he was young and didn't know what love was, they gave him the best experience. He always thought that he lived in a happy family. It was Xu Guanshan who shattered the illusory mirror with his own hands and dragged him into the real world.
For many years afterwards, even until now, that scene still appeared from time to time in his mind and his dreams, becoming a thorn in his heart and an indelible shadow.
It's ridiculous to say that he, who seems to be omnipotent, would be troubled by such a thing.
Are there not many similar examples around us? It's a common occurrence among wealthy families. Let's not even talk about distant past cases, just take his childhood friends. When Luo Jinnan was thirteen, an illegitimate child of the same age was taken home, causing unrest in the family. A few days later, the family sat down at the same table with He Lele as usual, as if nothing had happened, as if the illegitimate child had always lived in the family.
Only he is an outlier. He can never let it go and is unwilling to believe that there is any relationship in this world that is perfect and indestructible.
He doesn't believe in things like feelings.
So when Xia Xi pursued him, he knew that he had already fallen in love with her, but he refused to agree to her.
Rather than facing the possibility of separation in the future, even if there is only a one in ten thousand chance, he would rather not start.
Deep down, he was afraid that she was acting on impulse, that she would leave halfway, that she would cheat... He had too many thoughts in mind, but so what? In the end, he couldn't resist his love for her. He let down his guard, pulled out the thorn in his heart, and was with her.
How could he have imagined when he promised her that one day, she would personally pierce this thorn into his heart again, deeper than when he was eight years old.
Xu Yanfeng's eyes were bloodshot. He forced himself to look away, turned his back, and blocked the sight of the others who followed him in. He opened his thin lips, and said in a voice that didn't seem to be his own: "Get out."
Xia Xi is not wearing any clothes and cannot be exposed.
Tang Yizhou was stunned and speechless. He was the one who rushed in first. Although he yelled "catch them cheating," he never imagined they'd actually be caught in bed. He'd assumed Xia Xi and the man were just being intimate, never imagined they'd end up in bed.
If this isn’t cheating, what is?
The evidence is irrefutable!
Ling Yan's heart was beating wildly, and she forgot about her image. Her eyes were almost popping out of their sockets, but the corners of her lips kept trembling. She wanted to laugh, but she held it back by gritting her teeth.
Xia Xi was truly more suicidal than she had expected.
The people present remained silent and left the inner room with mixed feelings, without making a sound the entire time.
Xu Yanfeng rested one hand on the edge of the partition door, veins throbbing on the back of his hand. He closed his eyes and wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing. He walked out and gave the two people on the bed behind him time to get dressed and tidy up.
If he wasn't such a gentleman, he would have turned his head at this moment and seen Xia Xi lifting the quilt. She was wearing a white tube top underneath, and except for her arms, shoulders and neck, the rest of her body was wrapped tightly.
She put on a sweater and combed her deliberately messy hair to make it smooth. Her heart was numb with pain and she felt nothing at all. All her senses disappeared.
Zhou Du walked out before her. Just as he passed by Xu Yanfeng, he turned sideways, grabbed his collar and punched him.
Half his face was in excruciating pain, and a bloody taste instantly surged into his mouth. Zhou Du remained expressionless, and of course, he couldn't fight back. He sighed silently, knowing that he couldn't escape what was coming. He knew he would be beaten.
Xia Xi went over and grabbed Xu Yanfeng's arm. She didn't use much force, but Xu Yanfeng let go. She stood between them and glanced back at Zhou Du.
