Huang Shiyu was not prepared in advance, and it took her a long time to reach Xu Group in 20 minutes. She urged the taxi driver to drive faster along the way because she had something urgent to do.
As Party B, you can't be late and keep Party A's boss waiting for a long time.
It won’t work even if the client’s boss is her schoolmate.
In President Xu's office, Xu Yanfeng looked at his watch every three minutes, not feeling tired, and tapped the table lightly with his other hand.
When the pointer turned to ten o'clock, the finger stopped and Xu Yanfeng raised his eyes and looked towards the door.
There was a knock on the door. He straightened the collar and cuffs of his suit, sat upright, and put his hands on the table: "Come in."
The frosted glass door was pushed open from the outside, and Guan He walked in, holding documents in his arms. Xu Yanfeng's eyes passed over him and looked behind him, but there was no one there.
Guan He was puzzled. He followed his gaze and looked behind him, but found nothing wrong.
"Where are the people?" Xu Yanfeng asked.
"What……"
Before he even uttered the word "person," Guan He realized who he was talking about. He glanced at his watch. It was ten o'clock, the time for his meeting with the Boya representative. Guan He coughed and said, "Maybe he's downstairs now."
Xu Yanfeng raised his chin: "Go and take a look."
Guan He put down the documents and left without any hesitation.
He wondered if Xia Xi would drive over by herself or take a taxi. If she did, he would have to wait in the underground parking lot, while if she did, he would have to wait at the company's main entrance.
While I was struggling, the elevator reached the first floor, stopped, and someone came in.
A young woman, wearing a dark blue coat and carrying a brown square bag across her shoulder, was staring at the display screen above the elevator, panting and looking anxious, swallowing several times.
Huang Shiyu was so panicked that he was still late despite rushing so hard!
Guan He tilted his head to look at her a few times and thought she looked familiar: "Are you...Mr. Xia's assistant?"
Huang Shiyu then looked at the other person in the elevator, his eyes widened, and he nodded vigorously: "I am, Special Assistant Guan."
"Where's your Engineer Xia?" Guan He suddenly felt something was wrong. The person they were waiting for in the CEO's office was Xia Xi. "Why are you alone?"
Huang Shiyu smiled politely: "Xia Gong is busy and can't come."
Guan He pursed his lips and gave her a look that said "I wish you all the best."
The elevator arrived. Guan He led her to Xu Yanfeng's office, knocked on the door for her, then watched her go in and stayed outside.
After Xu Yanfeng finished signing the documents Guan He had just delivered, he heard a knock on the door. He pretended to be calm and restrained himself from looking up. When someone came over, he heard the footsteps sound strange and raised his eyelids. Sure enough, it was not Xia Xi.
His brows furrowed slightly, then recovered in an instant. Xu Yanfeng asked the same question as Guan He: "Why you? Where's Xia Xi?"
Huang Shiyu couldn't help but feel nervous when facing such a powerful figure. However, she didn't want to embarrass Xia Xi. She clenched the strap of her bag with her fingers and said calmly, "Sister Xi had something urgent to do and asked me to come in for her. If you have any questions, please tell me and I'll pass them on to her later."
It did seem like she, a mere assistant, wasn't paying enough attention to the boss by coming straight to see him, but there was a reason for it, and there was nothing she could do. She explained, "To show respect, Sister Xi originally wanted Mr. Lu to come personally, but since we were short on time, I took the initiative and came here myself. Please forgive me."
Xu Yanfeng lowered his eyes, held the ballpoint pen in his hand and inserted the pen cap into the table. He stood the pen up and pressed it against the table. With a "click", the pen cap was put on.
Huang Shiyu's heart tightened and his palms were sweating.
Xu Yanfeng thought that Xia Xi's serious and responsible attitude towards work shouldn't be like this, but at the same time, he felt that her excuse for not coming was reasonable. Unless she had no other choice, she didn't want to see him or get entangled with him.
She wished she could stay away from him.
Xu Yanfeng lowered his eyes even lower to hide the self-mockery in his eyes.
He did not make things difficult for Xia Xi's assistant, and calmed down and discussed the design plan in a businesslike manner.
Huang Shiyu successfully completed the task and came out of the Xu Building. She stood on the roadside with her bag for a long time. God knows, in just twenty minutes, she was almost suffocated and fainted.
After taking the subway back home, Huang Shiyu continued to work, sorting out the suggestions put forward by Xu Yanfeng one by one, breaking them down from small to large, and sending them to Xia Xi's email.
She informed Xia Xi on WeChat: "Sister Xi, I have sent Mr. Xu's comments to your email, please check it."
Xia Xi didn't reply.

The next day, Xia Xi took her grandmother's ashes back to Ganlin.
Although grandma never mentioned it, Xia Xi knew that she would rather stay in Ganlin than in Nancheng. That was her hometown, where the fallen leaves returned to their roots.
Returning with her were Su Jinru and her two children, Xia Xuan and her husband.
The Xia family didn't have many relatives, and they cut off contact after the accident at home. Xia Xi didn't notify them, but only sent an obituary to some of her grandmother's old friends.
Gan Lin's house was sold, and Xia Xi placed her grandmother's ashes in the local funeral home and will send them to the cemetery for burial tomorrow.
I had expected few people to pay their respects, but news of my grandmother's death spread like wildfire, and a long line formed at the funeral home. Xia Xi presided over the event, standing at the side of the mourning hall and bowing in gratitude.
Among those who came were old colleagues who used to work at Peishan Hotel, such as Uncle Cao, Aunt Lin, etc., as well as long-time customers and people who had received favors from my grandmother.
Passing by Xia Xi, Aunt Lin stopped and patted her shoulder with tears in her eyes: "You all need to take good care of yourself in other places. The old lady's spirit in heaven will bless you."
Xia Xi, dressed in mourning, bowed to Aunt Lin and said, "Thank you for coming to see Grandma off."
After a tiring whole day, not many people came in the evening, so Xia Xi knelt down and burned paper for her grandmother.
