Chapter 255 I am the child's father

On the first day of school, Xia Xi personally drove the two children to school to register.

Xia Yue offered to accompany her because she wanted to get familiar with where Youyou went to school so that she could maybe pick her up later.

Along the way, Xia Yue carefully observed the route outside the car window and memorized it in his mind.

Arriving at the kindergarten, Xia Xi parked the car and led the two children inside. Seeing their head teacher, Teacher Song, she introduced Xia Yue to Teacher Song: "This is my sister. It's okay if she comes to pick up the children in the future."

Xia Yue opened her eyes slightly wide and looked at Xia Xi in surprise. She could actually see through her thoughts.

Xia Xi turned sideways and patted the back of her hand. Xia Yue came back to her senses and hurriedly greeted Teacher Song.

Teacher Song looked at her for a few seconds, smiled and nodded: "I remember it."

After handing the child over to the teacher, Xia Xi rushed to work. While waiting for the red light, she asked Xia Yue, who was sitting in the passenger seat, "Are you going home directly, or are you going out for a walk?"

Xia Yue looked towards the bustling street and squinted her eyes. "Please drop me off at the intersection ahead. I'll go shopping for a while and then go back."

"That's fine. The weather's nice today, so a stroll will put you in a much better mood. There's a big park up ahead with beautiful scenery. I took Youyou and Ziheng there on weekends before, and there were even black swans in the lake." Xia Xi said, pointing to the left, "Go that way, there are big shopping malls over there. You can go in and buy some clothes, makeup, skincare products, and so on."

Xia Yue's lips curled slightly. Is he treating her like a child?

There were still ten seconds left on the red light countdown. Xia Xi pulled out a card from her bag and handed it to her: "The password is my birthday plus the last three digits of my phone number. It's easy to remember."

"I have money." Xia Yue pushed her hand away, "Keep it."

There were three seconds left on the countdown. Xia Xi placed the card on her lap. "You're being so distant with me, aren't you? When we were in school, you gave me a lot of pocket money. I never thought of being polite to you back then."

On her birthday, Xia Yue gave her a six-figure bag, and she would happily accept it. Now it was just the other way around, they were her own sisters, so there was no need to be so fussy.

Xia Yue felt a lump in her throat. She pressed her eyelids with the back of her hand and turned her face toward the car window.

At the intersection ahead, Xia Xi pulled over and Xia Yue opened the door and got out.

Xia Xi lowered the car window, turned his head and waved to her: "Be careful, call me if you have any problems."

"I understand." Xia Yue stood by the road and watched her car go away.

Having not interacted with outsiders for over five years, Xia Yue was out of touch with society. It would take some time for her to return to her former self, but she would work hard to overcome it. She had to find a job, earn money to raise Youyou and provide for Su Jinru in her old age. She couldn't rely on Xixi forever; her burden was heavy enough.

Xia Yue looked down at the bank card in her hand, put it away and had no intention of using it.

After a busy morning, Xia Xi was eating takeout in the office during lunch break when she received a message from Xu Yanfeng. He wanted to pick up his child from kindergarten in the afternoon and asked her if she wanted to go with him.

Of course Xia Xi refused, and then sent him the address and school dismissal time of the kindergarten and asked him to go there by himself.

Putting down the phone, Xia Xi held the plastic spoon and continued to eat the salmon and macaroni salad in the lunch box.

Xu Yanfeng didn't force it. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future anyway, so there was no need to rush.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Xu Yanfeng walked out of the office and met Guan He in the corridor.

Guan He had just come out of the elevator with two documents in his hand that needed Xu Yanfeng's review. Seeing that he was about to leave, he was stunned for a moment and secretly glanced at his watch. It was still very early.

Guan He: "Mr. Xu, are you going out for something?"

Xu Yanfeng nodded slightly, unable to suppress the joy in his eyes. He didn't need to tell his assistant where he was going, but he couldn't help but said: "Going to the kindergarten to pick up the children after school."

There was a sense of unreality when these words came out of his mouth.

Glancing at the documents in Guan He's hand, Xu Yanfeng added, "There's nothing I can do. The kindergarten finishes school early, so I have to go there now, otherwise I'll miss it. Let's talk about it tomorrow if you have anything to say."

Fortunately, it was not an urgent document, and Guan He expressed his understanding.

Xu Yanfeng stopped in front of the elevator and suddenly realized that he had no experience with children. He called Guan He and gestured to him to come here.

Guan He walked up to him and said, "Go ahead."

"How can I quickly build a closer relationship with my child?" Xu Yanfeng asked him sincerely.

Guan He was stumped. He didn't have children and lacked experience in this area. But since his boss was asking him questions, could he just brush them off? Rush- ing to his brain, Guan He offered a suggestion: "Bring some food and drinks with you. Children generally find it hard to resist snacks."

Xu Yanfeng listened to it and on the way to the kindergarten, he asked the driver to stop the car and he went down to buy some food himself.

Not knowing what his child liked, he just picked up everything that looked delicious and put it into the shopping cart.

He went to checkout only when his shopping cart was full. He filled two large plastic bags and bought two cups of milk tea from the beverage shop next to the supermarket.

It can be said that we have made sufficient preparations.

After some delay, when we arrived at the kindergarten gate, some parents who had come to pick up their children had already gathered there.

Xia Yue was among them. She'd spent the morning strolling around the busy neighborhood, but couldn't find a job that suited her. With her prison history and a flimsy resume, she couldn't find even a decent job; no one would hire her. Feeling down, she didn't go home for lunch. She called Su Jinru to check in, found a random restaurant for lunch, and continued her job search that afternoon.

It was almost time to go home from school, and she missed Youyou, so she went to the kindergarten.

A few days ago, Youyou was still on winter vacation. They spent every day together at home. She was used to the little girl sticking to her, and suddenly she couldn't see her for the whole day, so she felt a little uncomfortable.
