Chapter 256 He May Not Like You
Xu Yanfeng lowered his eyes and looked at Xia Ziheng with a stern face, his expression stunned.
Xia Xi told him that Ziheng knew he was his father and there was no need for Xia Xi to lie to him.
What's going on?
Xu Yanfeng bent down, pointed at his face, and spoke softly to the child: "Take a closer look, I really am your father. Maybe we haven't seen each other for too long, so you forgot what I look like. I told your mother that I would pick you up today."
Ziheng didn't buy it. He turned his head and looked to the side, not even looking at Xu Yanfeng, and repeated those three words: "I don't know him."
Xu Yanfeng's mouth twitched slightly, and he stood up and explained to Teacher Song for a long time. Teacher Song said with embarrassment: "Sir, I'm really sorry, the child said he doesn't know you, so I can't hand him over to you. Please understand."
Xu Yanfeng: “?”
Teacher Song didn't think he looked like a bad person. Of course, a bad person wouldn't have the word "bad person" written on his face. She gave him some advice: "Why don't you call the child's mother and confirm it again."
Teacher Song is not aware of the grudges between the children's parents. She is only responsible for the children's safety.
Xu Yanfeng had no choice but to take out his cell phone and call the child's mother.
It rang a few times before being cut off.
Teacher Song witnessed this scene and blinked. The look in her eyes as she looked at Xu Yanfeng gradually changed. Could he be a liar pretending to be a fraud? She silently pulled the two children to protect her behind her.
Xu Yanfeng clearly felt a breath stuck in his chest, unable to exhale. He then made a second call, and finally, Xia Xi answered. Two cold words floated over him like an electric current: "What's going on?"
"Ziheng said he didn't know me, and the teacher refused to let him go." Xu Yanfeng felt that his tone sounded like a complaint.
"He said he doesn't know you?" Xia Xi repeated his words with a rising tone.
Xu Yanfeng: "Didn't you say he knew who I was?"
"He does know. I'm not lying to you." Xia Xi said, "But he might not like you very much."
Xu Yanfeng: “…”
After a few seconds of silence, Xia Xi's voice came from the receiver again: "Give the phone to the teacher, I'll talk to her."
Xu Yanfeng raised his eyebrows and immediately handed the phone to Teacher Song: "Mother of the child."
Teacher Song answered the phone hesitantly, and Xia Xi's attitude changed instantly, becoming gentle and kind: "Teacher Song? I'm Xia Xi. We met this morning. I'm sorry to trouble you. The child is mad at his father."
"So that's how it is."
"Give the phone to Ziheng, I want to talk to him."
Just like passing the flower, the phone was passed to Ziheng again. The handsome young boy had a stern and childish face, but he had to succumb to his mother's words and followed the man obediently.
Xu Yanfeng refused the driver's request and opened the back door for the two children. There were two large bags of snacks on the seats and milk tea on the table.
Youyou looked at Ziheng in confusion, and only got in after Ziheng got in.
Xu Yanfeng held onto the upper edge of the car door, leaned forward slightly, and smiled in a friendly manner: "The food and drinks are all bought for you, you can eat as much as you want."
When the car door closed, Youyou suddenly caught a glimpse of Xia Yue standing on the side of the road. She was standing there alone, as if she had been abandoned. She felt a little pitiful. Her heart was shrinking, an indescribable feeling.
Xu Yanfeng sat in the passenger seat, and the driver received instructions to drive the car.
The car slowly drove away, and Xia Yue's figure became smaller and smaller in Youyou's sight. She felt inexplicably sad. Youyou raised her two small hands and patted the car window, pouting and about to cry: "I want to get off."
Xu Yanfeng signaled the driver to stop the car, turned around and asked the little girl: "Your nickname is Youyou, right? What's wrong?"
Youyou cried out "Wow": "I don't want to live in a strange place. I want to get off the bus. I miss my grandma and mom." She couldn't figure out which "mom" she was referring to.
Xu Yanfeng panicked and got out of the car quickly. He opened the back door and bent down to wipe her tears. He was not good at coaxing children, so he could only try to explain to her: "Mom will be back after get off work. If you miss grandma, you can also bring her over."
"Don't cry, I'm still here." Ziheng sighed helplessly and comforted her, "I won't sell you alone. If I have to, we'll be sold together."
After he finished speaking, Youyou cried even harder: "Wow, I don't want to be sold!"
Xu Yanfeng had a headache and glanced at Ziheng. Was this kid deliberately making trouble?
Youyou got out of the car crying and turned to look in the direction of Xia Yue.
Xia Yue saw the commotion and ran over in a hurry, her hair all messed up, looking anxious: "What happened to Youyou?"
Xu Yanfeng didn't know how to explain it, but he still told the truth: "Youyou didn't want to go to a strange place, and she insisted on getting off, so I asked the driver to stop."
Xia Yue squatted down and hugged Youyou distressedly: "Then, what should we do?"
Ziheng also got out of the car and patted Youyou's shoulder as she opened her mouth and cried: "You go back to grandma first. I'll go check on her. Come back when everything is okay."
Youyou stopped crying, her eyelashes still wet, two tears hanging from the corners of her eyes. She looked at him worriedly: "Are you okay on your own?" She moved closer to Ziheng and spoke in what she thought was a very quiet voice, but in fact everyone present could hear, "That uncle is so scary. He bullied Mom and Grandma."
Xu Yanfeng: “…”
Is his image really that scary? The child was frightened and cried.
Xu Yanfeng swallowed silently. What was the point of arguing with the child? He lowered his eyes to look at Xia Yue, asking for her opinion: "How about we do as Ziheng said? You take Youyou home first, and then see if the little girl is willing to live here?"
