Chapter 263 Did You Take the Wrong Medicine?

It suddenly started raining outside. Xia Xi didn't check the weather forecast and went out without an umbrella. He took out his mobile phone and opened the taxi app.

Lu Mingji: "I'll take you back."

Xia Xi looked up. His face was no longer filled with disappointment. He was as warm, friendly, and reliable as usual. She glanced at the two empty wine glasses on the table and said, "You drank."

"I've called a designated driver to take you first." Lu Mingji took both of their coats from the waiter and handed Xia Xi's coat to her. "It's still early, it won't be a problem if I go back later."

Xia Xi no longer refused, put her phone in her bag, put on her coat, and walked out with Lu Mingji.

The sightseeing elevator went down floor by floor, and the light kept changing on the two people's faces, but no one spoke.

Even if they started chatting, it was hard to pretend nothing had happened for a moment. Xia Xi knew that Lu Mingji only looked calm, but he wasn't as indifferent as he appeared. He was acting so calm because he was considering her and didn't want her to feel any psychological burden.

The rest can only be left to time.

In the underground parking lot, the designated driver has arrived. Lu Mingji opened the back door of the car. A bouquet of flowers was placed on the seat. The bright yellow roses were wrapped in milky white sulfuric acid paper, blooming to the extreme in the dark corner.

Xia Xi was stunned for a moment and looked at Lu Mingji.

"It's better to be prepared." Lu Mingji laughed and teased, "If you agree, it would be awkward to not have flowers."

As he spoke, he bent down and took out the bouquet of flowers. He looked around but couldn't find a trash can, so he stuffed the flowers into Xia Xi's hands and said, "Why don't you just take it. Take it home as a decoration and put it on for a few days. There's no other meaning."

"Thanks."

Xia Xi reached out and hugged the flower, then sat in the car with her body slightly bent. The soft petals gently brushed against her chin, and the rich fragrance lingered at the tip of her nose.

Lu Mingji then got in the car.

Xia Xi told the designated driver the address of Xu Yanfeng's home.

Raindrops hit the window glass, making a chaotic sound. Xia Xi stared at the blurry car window. The neon lights on the street were projected on it, blurring into a ball. The rain seemed to be much heavier than before.

The car was not driving fast and it took more than half an hour to arrive.

Lu Mingji took the umbrella and wanted to get out of the car to take Xia Xi inside, but she stopped him: "It's only a few steps away, don't get out."

As soon as she finished speaking, she pushed open the car door, holding the flowers in one hand and covering her head with the other hand, trotted up the steps, stood under the eaves, turned around and waved to the people in the car, and walked in.

Lu Mingji stared at her back for a few seconds before saying to the designated driver, "Let's go."

Xia Xi didn't think of Xu Yanfeng's residence as a place where she could come and go freely. When someone was home, she would habitually ring the doorbell and wait for a response before entering. If no one opened the door, she would unlock it and go in.

Xu Yanfeng was sitting in the sunken area of the living room, reading a book. When she heard the doorbell ring, she suddenly felt a surge of anger. She had entered her fingerprint on the door lock, so she could clearly come in on her own.

I've never seen anyone ring the doorbell before entering their own home.

Ziheng ran to open the door and greeted her with a smile: "Mom, you're back!"

Xu Yanfeng: “…”

After all the calculations, I had overlooked the little traitor Ziheng.

Xia Xi closed the door, kicked off her shoes, and patted her son's head: "Why you?"

"Youyou is having fun in the room."

"I mean..." Why is Xu Yanfeng not here?

Ziheng understood what she was saying halfway through. He took her hand, pointed in a direction, and whispered, "He's reading there. He barely ate dinner and is sulking."

Only then did Xia Xi notice Xu Yanfeng's presence. The sunken lounge area consisted of several curved sofas, surrounded by a marble table. The area was slightly lowered. A man, wearing a black shirt and trousers, sat cross-legged on the black leather sofa, almost blending in with the background, making him difficult to spot without close inspection.

"Why is he sulking?" Xia Xi asked in a low voice.

Ziheng shrugged and said casually, "Maybe the food is not to my liking."

Xia Xi didn't quite believe it: "...like this?"

Ziheng touched the flowers Xia Xi was holding with his little hand: "Mom, are these the flowers Uncle Lu gave you?"

Xu Yanfeng's eyes, fixed on the book, flickered slightly, and he glanced over with the corner of his eye. A bright yellow color caught his sight - not bright, but dazzling.

With a "pop", Xu Yanfeng closed the book and threw it on the black marble round table. He climbed a few steps and slowly walked to Xia Xi. His gaze paused for a few seconds on the yellow rose in front of her, and he said in a sarcastic tone, "Are you willing to come back?"

Xia Xi didn't know what to say, so she patted Ziheng's shoulder and said, "Go back to your room and get some rest. Do you want to sleep with me or by yourself tonight?"

Youyou even sleeps in her own room, so Ziheng certainly can't stand out from her. He raises his hand and says, "I'll sleep by myself!"

Ziheng ran back to his room in his slippers and closed the door.

There were only two people left in the living room, standing opposite each other. Xu Yanfeng was dissatisfied with Xia Xi's disregard for him, his brows knitted together, his dark pupils like whirlpools, locking onto her: "Xia Xi, I'm talking to you, didn't you hear me?"

Xia Xi was a little tired today and didn't want to argue with him: "I heard it. Well, I'm willing to come back. Then, what else do you have to say?"

When it comes to being sarcastic, no one can match her. Xu Yanfeng looked at her face for a while, then at the bouquet of roses that was an eyesore, and muttered, "What do these flowers... mean?"

Xia Xi had a question mark on her face, and asked calmly, "Do I need to report everything to you?"

"That's not necessary." Xu Yanfeng nodded. "I'm afraid you'll affect the child."

"How did I affect him?" Xia Xi was in no hurry to return to her room. She leaned against the wooden cabinet next to her, resting her elbows on the cabinet, and asked him seriously, "Come on, tell me clearly, how did I affect him?"
