Chapter 287 Someone Must Stay Awake

Xia Xi was a little busy, so Xu Yanfeng went to pick up the children and bought small cakes for the two children on the way.

Ziheng was not as repulsive to him as he was at the beginning. Except that he still didn't like to talk to him much, he wouldn't refuse anything he gave him.

Xu Yanfeng asked them: "What did you learn today?"

Ziheng ate his cake silently. Youyou said, "The teacher taught us to recite poems."

Xu Yanfeng: "Which poem?"

Youyou held the plastic spoon in her mouth, tilted her head and thought for a while, then smiled sheepishly, revealing her white teeth: "I forgot how to start."

Xu Yanfeng: “…”

Ziheng sighed and helped her start: "The sun sets behind the mountains."

Youyou immediately remembered, shook the spoon, and carried it down her back.

The carriage was filled with the childish voices of children. Xu Yanfeng was in a good mood, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise, and he would occasionally laugh out loud.

Back home, Xu Yanfeng urged his two children to do their homework. He took off his watch, rolled up his sleeves, sent a message to ask Xia Xi when she would be home, and then went to the kitchen to study.

Aunt Zhang felt tired of this. Why did the gentleman come again?

She thought her husband was acting on a whim, and judging by his attitude, it seemed like he was going to compete with her for the nanny position.

For the sake of her own job, Aunt Zhang had to ask, "Are you planning to fire me?"

Without raising his eyelids, Xu Yanfeng asked calmly, "Why would you have such an idea?"

Aunt Zhang: "You don't seem to be interested in cooking. Why do you want to learn this?"

Xu Yanfeng then glanced at her, hesitated for a moment, and chose to tell the truth: "I made Xia Xi angry, and I want to apologize to her."

Aunt Zhang, now jobless, relaxed and found it amusing. No wonder she'd felt the atmosphere at home had been unusual lately; it turned out the hostess and hostess were having a disagreement. While their relationship hadn't always been warm, it had at least been peaceful. The past few days had felt like the subzero temperature.

"Then cook a few of her favorite dishes tonight. I'll guide you and guarantee there will be no problems." Aunt Zhang understood Xu Yanfeng's purpose and stopped trying to stop him from cooking. She took the initiative to help him find a solution.

Xu Yanfeng knew Xia Xi's taste and recommended a few dishes.

When Xia Xi returned home from get off work, she smelled the aroma of food as soon as she entered the door.

Ziheng ran over to carry her bag and tugged at her skirt. Xia Xi leaned over to him and asked, "What do you want to say?"

Ziheng whispered in her ear, as if sharing a little secret with her: "That's horrible."

Xia Ximei's heart skipped a beat. She didn't quite understand. What was so scary?

Then she heard Ziheng say, "He cooked all the dishes tonight, and he even broke two plates and a bowl."

“…”

Xia Xi looked towards the restaurant. Didn’t she tell Xu Yanfeng this morning that he didn’t need to learn how to cook? Why was he still learning? Was he addicted?

Xu Yanfeng came over, his expensive shirt stained with the smell of fireworks, and gave Ziheng a look: "Go wash your hands and eat."

Meeting Xia Xi's eyes, Xu Yanfeng raised the corners of his lips slightly and took her hand.

Xia Xi didn't react and was pulled by him for two steps before she came to her senses. She wanted to pull her hand back, but he tightened his grip and she couldn't break free.

He took her to the sink, turned on the faucet with his other hand, tested the temperature, and when the warm water poured over his fingers, he took her hand, lifted it up, and stretched it forward to help her wash her hands.

Being treated like a child, Xia Xi felt extremely uncomfortable. Her ears felt slightly hot. She lowered her voice and threatened him, "I'll wash it myself. If you don't let go, I'll step on your feet."

Xu Yanfeng was not threatened by her. He gently and carefully squeezed out the hand sanitizer for her, rubbed his hands, put them under the faucet to rinse off the foam, and pulled out a piece of tissue and handed it to her.

Xia Xi didn't move.

Xu Yanfeng raised his eyebrows and said in a low voice: "You want me to help you wipe it?"

Before she could say no, Xu Yanfeng took her hand again and helped her wipe the water droplets off her hands.

Next to them, Ziheng and Youyou huddled together, washing their hands under the same faucet. Witnessing this scene, Youyou grinned, "Mom is so old, and she still needs someone to wash her hands."

Being laughed at by the kids made Xia Xi feel even more uncomfortable.

Xu Yanfeng looked calm and took out two tissues for the two children, letting them wipe their hands themselves.

The family of four walked to the restaurant. Xia Xi glanced at the dishes on the table, and Ziheng's words just now emerged in her mind. Xu Yanfeng made all these by himself? How could she not believe it?

There were fish, shrimp, pork ribs, vegetables and soup on the table. Each dish was not prepared casually.

Xu Yanfeng did not emphasize that he did it like he did in the morning. He observed Xia Xi's reaction calmly.

Xia Xi didn't say anything. She tasted the braised fish first, then her expression paused slightly, becoming increasingly incredulous. The dish actually tasted quite good.

Xu Yanfeng pursed his lips, picked up a shrimp and put it into the bowl, put on disposable transparent gloves, lowered his eyes and carefully peeled the shrimp shell, dipped it in the sauce, and put it into Xia Xi's bowl.

Xia Xi looked at him, didn't refuse, picked up the shrimp and ate it.

Xu Yanfeng smiled, and his mood was obviously much better. He said that this trick was effective.

He then peeled another one for her.

Xia Xi immediately said, "I'll do it myself."

Xu Yanfeng took off his gloves, tilted his head to look at her, and asked, "How does it taste?"

Xia Xi swallowed the food in her mouth, looked at him, and nodded without deliberately targeting him. However, Xu Yanfeng was dissatisfied with her response and frowned slightly: "What do you mean by nodding?"

"It's delicious." Xia Xi spoke, spit out a few words, and stopped looking at him.
