Chapter 292 Go to your company to complain

Due to limited conditions, Xu Yanfeng went to the bathroom to take a quick shower. When he came out, he was still wearing his shirt and suit pants, but they were not so neat. Several buttons of the shirt were undone, the cuffs were loose, and the hem was not tucked into the waistband of his pants.

Ziheng was still awake and couldn't fall asleep at all.

Xu Yanfeng lay down beside him, with one arm placed horizontally against his head.

Ziheng tilted his head and looked at him for a long moment without saying a word. Xu Yanfeng lowered his eyes and covered his eyes with his hand. His palm was large enough to cover Ziheng's entire face. "What time is it? Go to bed."

Ziheng had never slept in the same bed with him before, and it felt very strange. He pulled Xu Yanfeng's hand away, remembering what he had said before: "Why don't you sleep on the floor?"

Xu Yanfeng choked, turned over and lay on his side, looked at him, and said in a low voice: "Are you really willing to let your father sleep on the floor?"

Ziheng retorted: "You are not my father."

“…”

During their time together, Xu Yanfeng had noticed that Ziheng was more mature than most children his age. Perhaps this was partly due to Xia Xi's education and guidance, but also partly due to the child's natural comprehension. In short, he couldn't be treated as a completely clueless child.

"How can I not be your father?" Xu Yanfeng said seriously, "You are the child of your mother and me. You have our blood flowing in your veins, and this cannot be erased. We are family, the closest people to each other in this world."

Ziheng didn't quite agree with what he said, so he didn't say anything.

Xu Yanfeng could sense that Ziheng still had some resistance towards him. Although it wasn't as strong as it had been at the beginning, it wasn't completely gone either. He pursed his lips and patted him gently through the quilt, trying to soothe him to sleep.

Ziheng didn't hear him speak. All around him was quiet. The weight on his body kept coming back, and the sense of security it brought dispelled the uneasiness that had grown from the unfamiliar surroundings. Just as Ziheng was about to fall asleep, he suddenly heard the man sigh.

Ziheng thought he was hallucinating, so he raised his eyelids, only to see Xu Yanfeng staring at him blankly.

Xu Yanfeng admitted that he had thought too simply in the past. He felt that it was because he and Ziheng had not spent enough time together. As long as they lived together for a long time and developed feelings, the child would become closer and closer to him until he completely accepted him.

The facts don't seem to be like this, the child seems to have a knot in his heart.

After much deliberation, he decided to ask, "Why would you rather have Lu Mingji or Zhou Du as your father than me? I want to know the reason."

He couldn't understand why he hadn't done well enough and was outdone by those two.

Ziheng snorted softly: "Why are you asking this?"

"Only by recognizing your mistakes can you correct them. Didn't your teacher teach you that?" Xu Yanfeng didn't think it was shameful for an adult to admit his mistakes in front of a child. He said slowly, "Tell me what's wrong, and I can prescribe the right remedy."

Worried that Ziheng wouldn't understand, Xu Yanfeng explained: "The meaning of treating the disease with the right medicine is that only when you know what the disease is and take the right medicine, can the disease be cured. Otherwise, it will never be cured."

Ziheng was almost confused by him and his mind was in a fuss.

Xu Yanfeng patted his head: "Don't you understand?"

"I understand."

"Then tell me where I went wrong."

Ziheng has his own yardstick in his heart, but it is extremely difficult for him to express it.

He wanted to say, why are other children's fathers always by their side since they were very young, watching them grow up, like heroes, always standing in front of them when encountering problems.

Abroad, his mother had to go to school, work, and take care of him and his sister alone. Where was his so-called father at that time?

He never showed up once.

Why should he accept this person unconditionally just because he says he is his father? Is it just because of the blood relationship he claims?

He doesn't agree.

These words weighed heavily on Ziheng's heart, and he didn't know how to express them.

Xu Yanfeng waited patiently for a long time, but didn't hear Ziheng speak. He said "hmm" with a rising tone and looked closer at him: "Are you asleep?"

"No." Ziheng asked a straightforward question in a calm tone, "You said he was my father, so why didn't you ever come to look for me and my mother?"

Xu Yanfeng was stunned by the question and his throat was choked.

Ziheng added, "Uncle Lu has helped us a lot, and Godfather will come to visit us when he's free."

So it's not surprising that he would want either of them to be his dad.

Xu Yanfeng was silent for a long time and sighed. This little brat was much more powerful than he had imagined. He hit him right in the heart as soon as he opened his mouth.

Ziheng was right and he had no right to refute it.

"A few years ago, your mother and I separated due to some misunderstandings. She went abroad. I couldn't overcome the psychological barrier and didn't dare to look for her. I didn't know you existed." Xu Yanfeng tried his best to explain the past in words that his age could understand. The details were too complicated and not suitable to be told to him.

Ziheng didn't know how to respond. He had no idea what had happened between the adults.

Xu Yanfeng paused for a few seconds before continuing, "I'm pursuing your mother again. She seems to still like me. I can't say 'seem', she probably hasn't forgotten me. Forget it, you won't understand if I tell you this. You just need to remember one thing. Although you may not be happy about it now, I will always be with you and your mother in the future."

After hearing what he said, Ziheng said calmly, "You are so confident. Even my mother didn't agree to you."

"It's just a matter of time." Xu Yanfeng still has this confidence.

"I don't need you to accompany me." Ziheng said stubbornly.

"Okay then, you and I, we'll stay with your mother and protect her together, that should be fine."
