Xia Xi had a serious expression, thinking that Zhou Hongsheng had done something stupid again, but he didn't expect to get good news.
"Xixi, Zhou Hongsheng contacted me. He agreed to the divorce and no longer made those excessive demands. He just told me that he would go back to the Civil Affairs Bureau in Ganlin on Monday to complete the formalities." Xia Yue's joy could be felt through the screen.
Xia Xi's tense face relaxed, and her body softened. She leaned back in her chair, happy for Xia Yue, but to be on the safe side, Xia Xi decided to go with her: "I'll go back with you."
"You don't have to go to work on weekdays?" Xia Yue was afraid of causing trouble for her. "It's okay, I can do it alone."
"That kind of person has no bottom line and cannot be taken lightly. Even if he doesn't do anything to you, I'm here and can help you." Xia Xi was firm.
Xia Yue hesitated for a second or two before agreeing to Xia Xi's arrangement. She had finally gotten this far, and she didn't want to create any more complications. She felt more at ease with someone accompanying her.
Xia Xi left the coffee shop, and the call continued. Xia Yue still didn't know how Xu Yanfeng had managed to convince Zhou Hongsheng, a profit-seeking man, to agree to a divorce. Curious, she asked Xia Xi for information.
Xia Xi curled the corners of her lips and briefly explained it to her.
"Ah?" Xia Yue was surprised. "Is this possible? Won't it be discovered?"
"If Zhou Hongsheng had any sense, he wouldn't have been fooled in the first place."
Xia Yue suddenly smiled, thought about it, and then became a little worried: "What if he finds out later, will he cause trouble?"
"Don't worry." Xia Xi comforted her, "He won't know it was us. He will just suspect that the 'rich girl' has lost interest in him. By then, the marriage will have been divorced, and you will no longer have any relationship. He won't be able to stir up trouble."
Xia Yue thought about it and gradually felt relieved.
*
On Monday, before leaving, Xia Xi tied Xu Yanfeng's tie. He tilted his neck slightly, but lowered his eyes, staring at her face: "Call me if you need anything." Even so, he still felt uneasy, "How about I go back with you?"
Xia Xi tidied himself up neatly and patted his tie knot: "Just go to work with peace of mind. I'm just accompanying my sister to go through the divorce procedures. I'm not going to invite anyone to a fight. I need a large crowd."
Xu Yanfeng put his arm around her shoulders and touched the corner of her lips: "Let's go."
Xia Xi waved his hand: "Let's go."
Xu Yanfeng's hand slid down from her shoulder, along her arm, all the way to her wrist, and held it: "Let's go down together?"
"Then you have to wait for me."
Xia Xi took a day off and booked a 10:00 AM ticket back to Ganlin. It was still early, so she had no plans to leave immediately. Seeing how clingy Xu Yanfeng was, she gave in. She sat down, quickly put on her makeup, and went out with him, bag in hand.
The two children took Xu Yanfeng's car and were taken to school by him, and then he rushed to the company.
After parting in the underground parking lot, Xia Xi got into his car and drove to Su Jinru's house.
"You're here so early? Have you had breakfast?" Xia Yue opened the door with a toothbrush in her mouth and spoke vaguely, "Xiaoxuan is here and brought breakfast."
She couldn't sleep last night and fell asleep almost at dawn. The alarm on her cell phone didn't wake her up. She was just woken up by Su Jinru.
"I've eaten." Xia Xi went into the house to change shoes and saw Xia Xuan sitting in the restaurant.
Her work has been a mess lately and she has no time to care about Xia Xuan. She happened to meet her and asked about her recent situation.
Xia Xuan ate fried dough sticks dipped in soy milk and said, "I'm fine. I heard that my eldest sister was going to divorce Zhou Hongsheng today, so I came to support her. I bought tickets to go with you. Sister, you are so mean for not telling me earlier."
Xia Xi made a gesture of surrender and admitted his mistake: "I was afraid that you would be busy."
Xia Xuan: "I'm a freelancer, so I have plenty of time."
Xia Yue entered the bathroom, the door open. Hearing Xia Xuan's words, she spat out the toothpaste foam in her mouth, scooped up some water to rinse her mouth, and stretched her neck to join in their conversation: "You two really think alike."
Xia Xuan shouted from a distance, "Why are they sisters? They must be so close!"
Xia Yue smiled: "Yes, yes, they are all my good sisters."
Su Jinru said to Xia Yue in the bathroom, "Just focus on washing up. Come over for breakfast when you're done. Don't keep calling me. You'll be late."
"Mom, don't rush my sister. There's still time." Xia Xi patted Su Jinru's shoulder and served her porridge.
Su Jinru: "Would you like to eat something?"
Xia Xi shook her head, sat down, and watched them eat with her head in her hands: "Xu Yanfeng made me eat two egg pancakes this morning. My stomach is so full that I can't even drink a sip of water."
Su Jinru paused holding the fried dough sticks and looked at Xia Xi in surprise: "Xiao Xu...does he often cook at home? Don't you have a nanny?"
"Mom, you don't understand. That's Mr. Xu's way of coaxing my sister. It's a matter of interest, not a question of whether there is a nanny or not." Xia Xuan blinked and analyzed meaningfully to Su Jinru.
Xia Xi tapped her head lightly, and Xia Yue dodged by waving the half fried dough stick in her hand, smiling and not afraid at all.
After enough of the fuss, Xia Xi said to Su Jinru seriously: "He is usually very busy with work and doesn't cook often, only occasionally."
"Oh." Su Jinru tore off a small piece of fried dough stick and put it in her mouth. After thinking for a while, she said slowly, "Has he mentioned marriage to you? Your children are already so old. If your relationship is settled, you should consider getting the marriage certificate as soon as possible. It will be better for the children too."
Xia Yue sat down, poured a bag of soy milk into the bowl, scooped a spoonful of sugar and stirred it twice, and spoke for Xia Xi: "Mom, let them discuss their affairs on their own, don't worry about it."
Su Jinru stammered, "I'm just concerned."
