Chapter 37 The Child Calls Me Dad

Su Jinru wiped her hands and watched them leave.

Zhou Du, wearing sneakers, stood a mere 1.9 meters tall, with broad shoulders and a secure look. He wore a stylish yet simple denim jacket and white casual pants. He had a handsome appearance, his hair neatly shaved short. He held Youyou in one hand and Ziheng in the other, his head tilted to the side as he spoke to Xia Xi, a bright smile on his face.

Su Jinru saw this heartwarming scene and felt very happy.

Isn’t this a scene of a family of four living in harmony?

But Xixi said they didn't mean that, and she didn't know if they were just trying to fool her.

Su Jinru watched them get into the elevator and close the door. She turned around and looked at the old lady, sighing deeply, "Zhou Du is such a good kid. The more I see him, the more I like him. Why can't they be together? No, I have to persuade Xixi later."

The old lady nodded in agreement: "I just had a few words with Xiao Zhou, and I am quite satisfied with him."

With the old lady's support, Su Jinru became more determined in her decision: "Right, this kind of fate of growing up together is so rare. I feel sorry for Xixi if she missed it."

Xia Xi had no idea what the two elders were planning. She sat in the passenger seat, lowered her head and sent a message to Lu Mingji, while Zhou Du was driving.

Xia Xi: "I have a friend coming over, do you mind?"

Lu Mingji: "Is it your college classmate? What's her name, Zhao Lei?"

Xia Xi doesn’t have many friends in South City, and the only one Lu Mingji knows is Zhao Lei, whom he met last time at a class reunion.

Xia Xi: "No, I'm his childhood friend."

Lu Mingji: "Male or female?"

Xia Xi was stunned. Does it matter whether it is a boy or a girl?

But she still replied truthfully: "Male."

At the top of the screen, the words "The other party is typing" flashed several times, but there was no message back. Xia Xi was puzzled and waited for a while. Finally, a white dialog box popped up, and Lu Mingji replied with an "OK" to indicate that he understood.

Xia Xi stared at the conversation between the two people on the screen, frowning and squinting. Probably affected by Zhou Du's words, she actually began to doubt whether Lu Mingji had feelings for her.

She locked the screen and gave the man driving a resentful look: "Don't talk nonsense at the dinner table later."

Zhou Du glanced at her sideways, his tone ambiguous: "Am I so unreliable in your heart? You hurt my heart so much. Xia Xi, you know how to poke people's hearts."

Xia Xi raised her hands to cover her eyes speechlessly, not wanting to listen to him. She was so angry that she could shorten her life: "Just shut up."

He has such a handsome face, but he has to have a mouth that hurts people.

Zhou Du coughed softly and looked more serious: "Let's talk business, you and that Lu Mingji..."

"No idea, no possibility, no chance." Xia Xi firmly denied his guess, adding a look of disgust, "You still say you are not my mother, but I see that you are exactly the same as when my mother urged me to get married."

Zhou Du laughed in anger. If he wasn't driving, he would have given her a slap on the head. "You don't know what's good for you. I'm just concerned about you."

Xia Xi turned her head to look out the window. She didn't really want to talk to him about emotional topics. "Thank you. I'm not considering this aspect for the time being. I just want to focus on my career and raise my two children well."

Zhou Du glanced at the rearview mirror. The two children were sitting in the back, playing with his phone, not paying attention to the conversation between the adults. He lowered his voice and said, "Hey, tell me the truth, are you still obsessed with Xu Yanfeng?"

Xia Xi suddenly turned her head and looked at him seriously.

Zhou Du shuddered, realizing he'd stepped on a landmine, and immediately laughed it off, "What are we eating? I'm so hungry! The airplane food is so bad I want to complain."

*

Lu Mingji had arrived early. The restaurant he'd chosen had a pleasant atmosphere. Warm yellow light filtered through the wicker lampshades, softly casting a shadow over the dining table. Besides the various pizza flavors the kids loved, they also had Western food on the menu.

Because of this, business was booming. When Lu Mingji arrived, the private room was already booked, so he asked for a table for six and sat down to wait.

Some important person must be coming tonight. After receiving the news, the restaurant manager rushed in and out, sweat on his forehead, and urgently dispatched employees to conduct various inspections. The sound of messy footsteps rang in his ears.

These had nothing to do with Lu Mingji. He glanced at the door from time to time to see if Xia Xi and the child had arrived.

At the same time, he was also very curious about the childhood friend that Xia Xi brought with him.

When he looked up at the door for the umpteenth time, he saw Xia Xi's car parked in a space not far away. The driver's door opened, and a tall and straight man got out. He flashed by and his face was not clearly seen. He only saw him open the back door and bend down to carry Youyou out.

The little girl seemed to like him very much and hugged his neck with a smile.

Ziheng climbed out of the car by himself. After getting out of the car, Xia Xi walked around to the side, took his little hand, and followed the man into the restaurant.

Lu Mingji frowned slightly, picked up the boiled water on the table and took a sip. He felt that this scene seemed a little dazzling.

Zhou Du had never seen Lu Mingji before. After entering, he glanced around and asked Xia Xi: "Your boss..."

Before he could finish his question, a tall figure moved in his peripheral vision. He looked over and saw a man standing up and taking two steps forward. The man was dressed in a suit and had a dignified appearance. Although his features were a little sparse, his temperament was quite gentle.

Some people can judge a person's personality just by looking at their face and aura.

Zhou Du's first impression of Lu Mingji was good; he thought he was a modest and gentle person. However, to be the boss of a company, he must have some brains and skills.
