The afternoon sun is hot, just like a hot summer day.
The car finally stopped in front of a four-story building in a bustling neighborhood. The exterior alone was exquisite and noble enough. Looking around, the golden exterior wall looked like a castle, embossed with intricate patterns, and a string of English letters were integrated into the pattern.
Ziheng leaned against the car window, curiously looking up at the golden "castle" in front of him: "Are we going here?"
Xia Xi also looked at the person in the driver's seat with curiosity.
Xu Yanfeng unbuckled his seat belt: "Yes."
Ziheng opened the car door and got out: "What are you doing here?"
Ziheng seemed to have become Xia Xi's "spokesperson", and this was exactly what she wanted to ask.
Xu Yanfeng smiled and said, "You'll know once you get in."
He patted Xia Xi's back lightly, signaling her not to stand there in a daze.
Xu Yanfeng had probably made arrangements in advance. As soon as he entered the store, several uniformed staff members immediately approached with smiles and gestures of greeting. One of them said, "Mr. Xu, Mrs. Xu, welcome. Please follow me."
There was no customer in the store and no merchandise on display, so I had no idea what they were selling.
Xia Xi followed Xu Yanfeng full of doubts and was led to the fourth floor by the clerk.
The entire empty space was surprisingly brightly lit. One wall was a mirror, another wall was covered with lustrous champagne-colored curtains that almost hung from the ceiling to the ground, and the rest of the space was decorated with beautiful ornaments.
A clerk pressed the remote control, and the curtain slowly opened in the middle, revealing the wedding dress behind it. It was extremely exquisite and gorgeous. It was put on a mannequin and covered with a transparent dust cover.
Xia Xi's breathing paused for a second. She was familiar with this wedding dress, having seen it in a brochure not long ago.
The entire booklet shows the details of the wedding dress, every detail is perfect and there is no flaw to be found.
She looked at Xu Yanfeng, who curled his lips and said, "It's been a while since it was shipped back from abroad. I haven't found a suitable time to bring you here for a try-on. Today is a good day, we're both free."
The clerk said to Xia Xi with a smile on his face, "Mrs. Xu, we'll help you change."
Xu Yanfeng raised his chin and said softly, "Go ahead."
Xia Xi was pulled over by several shop assistants like a puppet, and the curtain closed again.
The weight of this wedding dress was beyond Xia Xi's imagination, and it was very difficult to put on. If she hadn't had someone to help her, she might have been sweating profusely and still not be able to put it on properly.
The clerk said, "Our wedding dress designer flew in specially. I just called him and he's on his way and will be here shortly. If there are any changes that need to be made, he will personally handle them and guarantee your 100% satisfaction."
Xu Yanfeng sat on the sofa and waited patiently. Ziheng was next to him, swinging his short legs. On the coffee table in front of him were tea and snacks brought by the waiter. He pinched a cookie and ate it slowly, yawning.
Xu Yanfeng glanced at him and said slowly: "This is an important moment in your mother's life, be serious."
Ziheng: “?”
Ziheng closed his mouth, which had been opened by a yawn. After a moment's thought, he opened his mouth again and said unconvincedly, "My classmates' parents all got married before having children. Why are you different from my mom?"
Xu Yanfeng: “…”
Being outmaneuvered by his own son, Xu Yanfeng was also unconvinced: "Of course it's because your child was born out of the ordinary. How could he be born before we got married? This is your problem."
Ziheng: “???”
Obviously feeling that he was being fooled, but unable to find words to refute, Ziheng pursed his lips and stared at Xu Yanfeng for a long time, muttering, "You bully me again, I'll tell my mother later."
"Is this what we call bullying you?" Xu Yanfeng scoffed. "A real man, are you so fragile?"
"...I won't talk to you anymore." Ziheng fell on the sofa with the back of his head facing him.
Xu Yanfeng took a magazine from the coffee table and flipped through it casually.
Xia Xi hadn't come out yet, but she could be vaguely heard whispering with a few of the shop assistants. The wedding dress designer arrived first, wearing a pink shirt, white pants, and a beard.
Xu Yanfeng had previously communicated with him via video about wedding dress design, and they were quite familiar with each other. After shaking hands, they began to converse in fluent French.
After waiting for a while, several shop assistants came out from behind the curtain. Xu Yanfeng stopped talking with the designer and turned to look in the direction of Xia Xi.
The curtain slid to the sides again, and as the view became wider and wider, Xia Xi, wearing a white wedding dress, appeared in his sight. She was standing on a round platform about 20 centimeters high, with rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes.
She didn't wear any makeup when she went out today. Her facial features were bright and attractive enough, and the lack of makeup didn't look out of place with the elaborate wedding dress.
Since it was impossible to create a hairstyle that matched the wedding dress in a short period of time, the clerk simply helped Xia Xi to tie up her long hair and put on a long veil to show the overall effect of the wedding dress.
The air seemed to be still, and the surroundings were extremely quiet. Xu Yanfeng couldn't even hear his own breathing. He realized belatedly that the moment he saw Xia Xi, he subconsciously held his breath.
Even the designer who created this wedding dress was amazed. His eyes were shining as he stared at Xia Xi blankly.
The shop assistants wanted to say something, but the atmosphere was too quiet and speaking suddenly would be a disruption, so they just waited quietly.
Unable to get any response from Xu Yanfeng, Xia Xi touched the hem of her wedding dress. The diamonds embellished on it brushed against her palm, bringing a slightly cool touch. "Why don't you say something?"
Her voice was soft, with a hint of anger that she herself was not aware of.
Xu Yanfeng seemed to have finally found his voice and cleared his throat in a serious tone, "She's even more beautiful than I imagined."
