The holiday is over, those who go to work go back to work, and those who go to school go back to school.
Ziheng returned home from school. Before he could even unload his schoolbag, he heard a series of howling sounds coming from somewhere in the house. He pricked up his ears and stood at attention while changing his shoes in the entrance hall.
"What's that sound?" He looked towards the source of the sound, but saw nothing.
Xu Yanfeng did not reveal it, but raised his eyelids and signaled him to go find it himself.
Ziheng didn't know why he was hunched over, as if he was afraid of startling something. He walked over quietly and saw a white cage with a furry nest next to it, a small water dispenser and a clean bowl.
At this time, the "wow wow" sound rang out again. Because he was closer, Ziheng could make a more accurate judgment. He found it on the side of the cabinet. It was a very small dog.
The puppy was running around in circles chasing its own tail and biting it, but because it couldn't bite it, it cried in frustration.
Ziheng couldn't believe his eyes. He turned around and looked at Xu Yanfeng with surprise. Xu Yanfeng was standing not far away with his arms folded lazily, observing his reaction. When the father and son's eyes met, Xu Yanfeng smiled.
Ziheng pointed at the little fellow, his dark eyes flashing with excitement, but the words he said were silly: "You really bought a puppy?!"
Xu Yanfeng felt that this was the age that suited Ziheng. He nodded and said, "Didn't I tell you I'll raise him once I get back from the villa? How about that?"
"That's great! Thanks, Dad."
Ziheng squatted down to tease the puppy.
Xu Yanfeng shook his head, snorted, and reminded him: "Put your schoolbag down before playing."
Ziheng then remembered that he had been carrying his schoolbag behind him. He stood up, took it off, put it on the sofa, and ran back to the puppy. The puppy pounced on him and nibbled at his slippers. He giggled and bent down to pick up the puppy.
"Dad, is this Alaska?" Ziheng asked.
Xu Yanfeng raised his eyebrows: "You know?"
"I've seen this kind of dog on my phone," Ziheng said. "It can grow really big."
Xu Yanfeng hummed: "Don't you want a majestic dog? It just so happens that your mother also likes Alaska."
Ziheng: "How big is it now? When will it grow into its majestic size?"
"More than two months, less than three months." Xu Yanfeng said patiently, "Puppies grow very fast. In a few months, they will be taller and stronger than you."
Xia Xi came back from get off work. Ziheng ran up to her excitedly, raised his head and said, "My dad bought a puppy, an Alaskan. So cute! It's sleeping in its bed now."
Xia Xi put down her bag and car keys, took a tissue and wiped the sweat off his forehead: "Do you like it?"
"Yeah." Ziheng nodded vigorously.
Ziheng pulled her to see the sleeping puppy. It was really cute, with its little furry head resting on the edge of the doghouse, its four legs swaying in one direction, and one ear turned over.
Xia Xi and Xu Yanfeng had chosen this dog together. Before returning from the villa, Xu Yanfeng had contacted a reliable pet shop. The owner had sent him photos and videos of some cute dogs, each with its own distinct personalities. After discussing it, the two of them chose one that looked honest and simple.
Looking at it this way, the real thing is even more appealing than it looks in the video.
Xia Xi reached out and gently touched the puppy. It was soft and felt wonderful. Her voice was also soft: "Give it a name."
"Let me think about it." Ziheng scratched his head, pursed his lips and thought for a while, "How about calling a truck?"
Xia Xi: “…”
Your naming ability is comparable to your father's, you are indeed your biological father.
Not hearing any sound of approval, Ziheng turned to look at his mother: "Is it not good?"
They had agreed to let the child name it himself, so Xia Xi naturally agreed. Perhaps the child had his own ideas: "A truck is a truck. Indeed, when it grows up, it should be very strong, which is suitable for the name."
Ziheng grinned and called out to the sleeping dog a few times: "Truck, Truck, Truck." He held his little face and asked, "When can I take Truck out to play?"
"It's new here and hasn't adapted to the environment yet. Its resistance may not be strong enough, so it needs to be kept at home for a while before it can go out," Xia Xi said. "In the future, our family of three can walk it every day and accompany it as it grows up."
Xu Yanfeng took a glass of water and when he walked over, he saw a big and a small person squatting side by side next to the doghouse, muttering to the sleeping dog. He didn't know what they were saying. Xia Xi had a gentle smile on her face, and Ziheng's eyes were full of longing.
Xu Yanfeng took a sip of water and decided to cook tonight.
*
This year's winter is warmer than ever before. In November, the temperature in South City did not drop much. For several consecutive days, the highest temperature reached 18 or 19 degrees Celsius.
As the wedding date approaches, Xia Xi becomes a little nervous, worried that something might go wrong at the wedding.
Of course, she didn't mention this nervous thought to Xu Yanfeng because she felt it was a bit pretentious.
The wedding venue was set at Jingyu Garden, which was designed by Xia Xi himself. It had never been open to the public since its completion. Unexpectedly, the first time it was put into use, it would be a grand wedding ceremony.
Wedding invitations were sent out one after another. The design was chosen by Xu Yanfeng. It wasn't the common red, but a refreshing green. A few curved lines outlined the pattern of petals swirling in the wind. They were tied with dark green lace ribbons, and at the end of the ribbons was a small bottle of gold powder. When the wedding invitations were unfolded and the gold powder was sprinkled on them, the words appeared, full of fun.
When Xia Xi asked him about his thoughts, he said, "Green is summer, Xia Xi's summer."
