The person in charge of Xu Group was in the hotel. His name was Wang Xiao, he was less than 40 years old and was a vice president.
Unable to rush in and look for someone, Lu Mingji found Vice President Wang's contact information, called him, and briefly explained the situation. Lu Mingji was the boss of a company, after all, and his personal involvement in the matter spoke volumes about the severity of the situation. Vice President Wang was willing to give him a favor and agreed to meet with him to discuss the matter in detail.
Lu Mingji hung up the phone and exchanged a glance with Xia Xi: "Let's go over there. Vice President Wang is in the conference room on the 16th floor."
Xia Xi appeared calm on the surface, but was actually very unsure.
Xu is such a big company with so much authority that it would be difficult to change the rules.
No matter what, we should always try our best before making a conclusion. Xia Xi said "hmm" and followed him into the elevator.
There was no one else in the elevator, so Lu Mingji asked her, "Do you have any suspicions?"
Xia Xi shook her head, completely clueless. "As soon as this happened, I observed the expressions of the team members. They were all surprised and angry. No one acted as if they had known the outcome. I don't know if that person was hiding it too well, or if there's something else going on."
Lu Mingji: "Are you sure it was a member of the group? Could it be that Cheng Bai stole it through some other means?"
"The possibility is very small." Xia Xi said, "From the beginning of the discussion, this project has only been handled by a few of us, and it has been kept confidential to the outside world. Even you, the boss, don't know exactly what the final design will look like."
Lu Mingji smiled faintly and nodded: "Indeed."
"Zhang Wanli from Chengbai came to me yesterday and explicitly asked me to join them. He also said I could set any conditions. I rejected him and didn't even give him face when I left."
"Is there such a thing?"
"Yeah. So I suspect he couldn't achieve his goal with me, so he turned to find someone else."
The elevator reached the 16th floor, and the two of them went out one after the other and headed to the conference room where Vice President Wang was.
In addition to him, there were several senior executives of Xu Group, whom he had met before at the competition site.
Lu Mingji shook hands with Wang Xiao and introduced himself. "I'm Lu Mingji, the boss of Boya Design." He pointed to Xia Xi next to him and introduced her. "This is our company's lead designer, Xia Xi. I'm so sorry to bother you so late in the day."
"It's okay, we were discussing the design plan submitted this morning." Wang Xiao gestured for them to sit down.
Without waiting for the other party to ask, Lu Mingji immediately expanded on what hadn't been detailed on the phone: "Chengbai's design is exactly the same as our Boya's. This is absolutely no coincidence. We have the original manuscript and can provide the complete design process to prove that this plan was created by Boya and has nothing to do with Chengbai. I don't know how they stole our plan."
"We understand, but Mr. Lu, you have to know that everything depends on evidence. We can't make a conclusion based on your one-sided statement." Before Vice President Wang could say anything, a senior executive next to him spoke first.
Lu Mingji was stunned, his tone suddenly becoming anxious: "Can't the original manuscript and design process be used as evidence? You can also ask Chengbai for the original manuscript and see if they can produce it. If they can't, it also indirectly proves that the plan is not theirs."
Several senior executives looked at each other, and finally looked at Wang Xiao, the main person in charge of this competition.
Wang Xiao was young, but to hold this position, he must have been quite accomplished. Sure enough, he looked amiable, but his words hinted at evasion: "Boss Lu, we only look at the final design proposal. We have no right to demand that the participating design companies submit their original drafts. We can investigate, but only if you provide stronger evidence."
Lu Mingji was speechless for a moment.
If they had evidence in their hands, there would be no need to say all this. They would just throw out the evidence and demand that Cheng Bo be kicked out!
Xia Xi added, "When Xu's company decided to hold an open competition, they advertised fairness and justice. Now, this incident has happened. Although it has nothing to do with Xu's company, if the results of the vote come out and Chengbai wins, and Xu's company cooperates with him, we at Boya will sue Chengbai, and Xu's company will be implicated. Even if Xu's company doesn't cooperate with Chengbai, as the organizer, once the lawsuit begins, Xu's company will be involved even if they are not responsible. It would be better for Xu's company to cooperate with our investigation. It will also improve Xu's reputation. What do you think, Vice President Wang?"
Wang Xiao finally looked her in the eye. She was a gorgeous woman with a sharp, razor-sharp gaze. At first, he didn't understand why Mr. Lu had brought a designer to talk to him, but now he understood.
"We will definitely investigate, but the problem is that we don't know where to start right now. Why don't you send your plan, manuscript, and drawing process to my email first? I'll ask someone to review it first, and then make additional comments when there is more direct evidence to prove that Cheng Bo stole it. Is that okay?" Wang Xiao gave in.
"Okay." Vice President Wang's concession gave Xia Xi the impression that there was room for negotiation, so she pressed her case and raised her second request. "The design plan was stolen, so we at Boya can't go on stage to present it this afternoon. We can't present the same plan twice. If everyone sees it, it will cause a commotion and affect the subsequent competition, right?"
"What you mean is..." Wang Xiao didn't quite understand.
Xia Xi smiled slightly, no longer aggressive, showing her friendly side: "I hope Vice President Wang can be flexible and change the order of our Boya presentation to the last one tomorrow afternoon."
The deadline for the pitch is tomorrow afternoon.
Wang Xiao was puzzled: "Even if I agree, aren't you saying the same plan twice? Unless... you have a backup plan."
"If we had a backup plan, we would have brought it out this afternoon."
