Chapter 5: Hands-on (Part 1)

By nightfall, the heavy rain had stopped and the air was filled with the scent of earth.

In the darkness, Su Yue opened her eyes. Thinking of the disgusting look Zhang Dong had given her mother during the day, she no longer concealed her murderous intent.

In this life, she would never allow her mother to come to any harm.

The house was not big to begin with, and she could vaguely hear Zhang Dong and Cuicui from the next room snoring as if they were in a competition, one louder than the other.

Thinking it was about time, she gently got up from the bed and covered her mother with the worn quilt.

Maybe because she was too tired from working during the day, my mother was sleeping soundly.

She quietly opened the door. It made a creaking sound. The sound of the old wooden door in the silent night startled her. She turned around and saw that there was no movement on the bed, so she walked out.

She walked out of the house skillfully, remembering that there was a stream behind the house. My mother often came here at that time, secretly caught a few crabs under the rocks, and cooked them for her to eat.

She came to the stream. Perhaps because of the heavy rain, the stream turned into a small river. The water was rushing. With Su Yue's current small body, she didn't dare to go down, so she returned disappointed.

Maybe it will be fine in two days. If you can't catch crabs, just look for other tools first. So she turned around and headed up the mountain.

Fortunately, there was some moonlight, so she didn't get lost. She found a stone about the length of an adult's palm and returned to the river with satisfaction. Using the sound of the river, she polished the stone she picked up. The river water was freezing, but not as cold as her heart.

After grinding stones all night, when he was hungry he would take a bite of the half bun his mother gave him. The bun was so hard that it hurt his teeth, and it also hardened Su Yue's heart.

She looked up at the sky and stopped when she thought it was about time.

She carefully polished the stone that had been polished to about the shape of a pestle. She wanted to make a simple mortar. There was one in the kitchen, but she didn't dare to use it for fear of revealing its flaws.

After doing all this, she hid the pestle behind the house, then tiptoed back to her room and lay down contentedly.

At daybreak, the mother got up quietly, moving very gently, for fear of waking Su Yue up, as the rough housework was waiting for her.

"Mom." She was now filled with hatred, and was not like her previous life, when she could sleep soundly.

"Yuer, sleep a little longer." When she heard her daughter calling her, she thought that she had moved too heavily, so she turned around and comforted her softly.

"I don't want to. Let me help my mother with the work." Su Yue quickly put on her clothes that had been washed until they turned white, jumped off the bed, and pulled her mother out.

"Yuer..." The daughter in front of him seemed to have really changed and become sensible.

As soon as Su Yue walked out of the door, she was met with a pair of wretched triangular eyes. It must be Zhang Dong or someone else.

Zhang Dong had just come back from peeing and heard some noise in Su Yue's room. He knew that it was time for Gu Qiner to get up, so he lay on the door and looked inside through the crack.

Unfortunately, Su Yue opened the door too quickly and almost made him fall.

When the mother saw Zhang Dong, she instinctively took a step back out of fear. Thinking that her daughter was there too, she pulled her daughter away quickly.

Su Yue took a few steps and when she looked back, she saw Zhang Dong staring at her mother with a disgusting look. Zhang Dong didn't say a word from beginning to end, but that look was enough to reveal too much desire.

Her heart sank and she felt vaguely uneasy.

"Mom, is Laba Festival coming soon?" she asked carefully, not revealing any emotion for fear of her mother's suspicion.

"Laba Festival is in five days. Yue'er, if you want to eat it, mother will find a way to make it for you." Gu Qin'er didn't think much about it and just thought that her daughter was greedy.

At this moment, a cold wind blew by, and the mother and daughter, who were already wearing thin clothes, shivered at the same time.

Are there five days left? It seems I have to speed up my journey.

The mother was busy preparing breakfast. Seeing that Zhang Dong had not entered the room but had been staring at her, Su Yue thought to herself that something was wrong. Could it be that this dog couldn't help himself now?

Su Yue's mind was working rapidly. She just happened to catch a glimpse of the steaming hot water her mother had just boiled, and an idea came to her mind.

At the same time, Zhang Dong quietly approached Gu Qin'er before daybreak. Gu Qin'er had her back to him, apparently unaware of the approaching danger.

Just as he was about to pounce, a scream exploded in the house: "Help! There's a thief!" A basin of boiling hot water was poured on his head.

"Ah... Mother..." The next moment, Zhang Dong's screams exploded in the quiet house.

"Son, son, what's wrong with you?" Hearing her son's screams, Yun's mother stumbled out of the room without even having time to put on her clothes. She was only wearing a middle layer of clothing in such a cold weather.

Seeing her son lying on the ground wailing weakly with steam coming out of his body, Yun's mother immediately realized that her son was scalded. The bitch mother and daughter stood there like idiots, and Su Yue was holding a wooden basin in her hand.

"You little bitch, you have nothing to do and you scald my son!" She was so angry that her liver and lungs ached, and she picked up the wooden stick next to her and was about to hit Su Yue.

When Su Yue saw Yun Ma rushing towards her, she dropped the wooden basin with an exaggerated bang, sat on the ground and rolled over crying, crying and shouting, "Yun Ma, Yun Ma, there's a thief!" She acted as if she was the one who was scalded.

This incident has left Yun's mother at a loss.

"Mom, save me, save me." Zhang Dong's wailing brought Yun Ma back to her senses.

"Open your dog eyes and take a good look. Who is the thief? You little bitch, are you blind?" As he said that, he stretched out his other hand, trying to pull Su Yue up.

There was no way she would give Yun Ma the chance to touch her hair, so she dodged very cleverly and climbed up. Looking at Zhang Dong who was lying on the ground twitching in pain, because the weather was extremely cold, the boiled water that was poured out had begun to form a thin layer of ice, which was like a world of ice and fire.

"Oh my God, I did something wrong! It was still dark outside and I only saw a dark shadow. I thought it was a thief who wanted to steal our rice and flour for New Year." Without giving Yun's mother a chance to scold him, he pretended to be very scared because he had done something wrong, and cried loudly. His cries drowned out Zhang Dong's wails.

And at an angle that no one else could see, the corner of her mouth pulled into a triumphant smile.

Yun's mother holds a stick, and it's not right to hit, nor is it right not to hit. If I beat him, people will say he is a thief who stole something. If I don’t beat him, it’s because my son was burned too badly.

"Mom, can you take me to see a doctor first?" Zhang Dong, who was lying on the ground shivering with cold, uttered these words. The burned parts of his body were burning with pain as if they were pierced by millions of needles at the same time.

"What's wrong? Can't I sleep so early in the morning? Why are you crying? Isn't your bitch mother standing right next to you?" Cui Cui opened the door slowly at this time and did not notice her husband on the ground.
