Second Breath (2)
January 1, 1892
"How long are you going to stay here?!" Ola slammed the documents on the table. It was obvious that her patience had run out.
Alex was lying on the sofa reading a newspaper.
Inger is sitting at the desk reading a book.
Hearing her angry voice, both of them felt as if a gust of wind passed through their ears.
Aura sneered, "I think your predictions are not that accurate. They are much worse than Chris's. It's been five days? What's the point of you keeping watch like this?"
Christine was sitting on the bed knitting a scarf and looked up when she heard this.
Alex asked, "Christine, did you dream about anything?"
Christine thought for a moment and said, "The only dream I've had recently was that Coco ate the dessert I sent her and fell asleep."
But two strange things about her were that she couldn't see anyone's face except Coco, and she couldn't see the things in the basket.
The cat was a very beautiful pure white short-haired cat with pupils of different colors, one blue and one red.
Out of habit, ever since she realized her dream was a precognitive dream, she would try very hard to remember the details every time she woke up.
But she didn't go into the details.
Inger asked, "What's the clue?"
"Probably not. Even I have some insignificant dreams, and I don't always dream about all the important events in advance."
"Why don't we evacuate those people first? This is too unsafe." Alex couldn't help but say.
Inger flipped through the book without looking up: "You've said this several times in the past two days. Don't worry, I'll let Teacher Bixi take care of it."
Aura: "You actually let the bishop do these things..."
Inger: "She seems to have nothing to do anyway."
Aura: "...She can be a bit... Never mind."
Originally, Ola brought Alex back with bad intentions, but now she feels a little regretful. She brought back a trouble and another one as a gift.
Christine asked again, "Where's Coco?"
Alex lay down again. "I'll let her stay in the room."
Christine called over a maid she didn't know. "Are you new here? Please help me deliver a box of desserts to the Ninth Prince's palace. It's for a maid in a blue dress. Her name is Coco."
"yes."
Christine laughed, and she could see the child smacking his lips as he ate.
Coco caught a red and blue cat that had strayed into the palace wall from the window, bandaged the wound on its leg caused by a thorn, and held it in her arms, caressing it.
She sat by the window holding the cat.
After a while, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
It was a maid who I didn't know.
"This is what the Tenth Prince asked me to give you."
"Ah, thank you, sister, but why haven't I seen you before?"
"I was newly assigned by Her Highness the Grand Princess to His Highness the Tenth Prince."
"Oh, I've heard her say that before."
Coco took the basket, saw the people off, made a cup of black tea, sat by the window, stroked the kitten, and looked out the window.
"If I don't give it to you, you can't eat it."
The cat stretched out its paw to grab her hand, but she smiled and slapped it away.
She ate most of the desserts in the basket with a happy smile. The sky was very clear and the light was a little dazzling.
She rubbed her eyes, sat on the cushion, and leaned her head against the window frame in the dim light.
The cat curled up on the soft mat, basking in the sun lazily, its soft tail twitching from time to time.
After a while, Alsophila spinulosa came in.
She saw Coco sleeping at the window, with cookie crumbs and saliva on the corners of her mouth.
She took the remaining pieces and put them in her mouth, then wiped the saliva from the corners of her mouth with a handkerchief.
The biscuits taste really good.
"You look silly. Even if you want to sleep, you should go to bed properly."
Then she carried Coco to the bed.
After a while, she felt sleepy without realizing it and fell asleep on the edge of the bed.
The door was not closed and a new face walked in.
"His Highness the Ninth Prince's room is here, right?"
She found two people sleeping on the bed, "Is this Coco?"
"Why are you sleeping in the prince's big bed?"
Seeing that the person was asleep, she didn't want to wake him up, so she put the basket on the table.
"Huh? There's a basket here too?"
There was a basket by the window with only a few biscuits left in it.
She shook her head, walked out, and closed the door behind them considerately.
She went back to report to Christine.
"Asleep?"
"Well, there are two of them. The other one has freckles on his face and is a little bit bigger."
Alex said, "It's Alsophila rubrum."
"What else?" Christine asked.
"They've already eaten, and there's a basket of cookies over there."
Christine frowned and muttered, "Is my dream pieced together?"
Ordinary dreams are different from prophetic dreams. Prophetic dreams are often clear, real, and strong, while ordinary dreams are chaotic and unreal.
But half of what she just described seemed to be true.
It is said to be a prophetic dream, but it is not quite the same.
This is the first time this has happened.
Christine stood up.
Ola asked, "Where are you going?"
"Let's go check out Coco."
Ola said, "Why are you worrying about this? Stay here. If anyone wants to see it, it's her master who's going to take care of it. I'm talking to you, Alex, get back to your room!"
Christine had no choice but to sit back down.
Alex: "No, this is closer to the king's chambers."
Ola slammed the seal down on the document, making a deliberate loud noise.
Alex's expression didn't change at all.
Inger touched the pages and cover of the book, flipping through it back and forth, and exclaimed: "It's amazing that such a high degree of completion can be produced in less than half a month."
Aura said, "You've been looking through that book for a long time. Is it the Book of the Goddess?"
"In a sense, yes." Inger showed her. "This is a new spell book, a spell system that is completely different from the original spells."
Ola frowned: "What do you mean?"
"You can think of this as a new spell from the goddess."
Aura's eyes widened slightly.
"It's almost done. His Holiness the Pope should be preparing to publish this book soon."
"Is this the new oracle that His Holiness the Pope mentioned earlier?"
“I guess so. This is a sample.”
"How could you have that?"
“…I am considered a publishing investor?”
"…You and Lanmore speak in exactly the same way. You are indeed brothers."
"Did I think you were exaggerating me?"
Alex was laughing on the couch.
In an instant, the Twilight Wand placed next to the table lit up.
The red light filled half the room.
Inger and Alex stood up at the same time.
Ola: What's wrong?
It was the magic circle he had left by the king's bed that was triggered.
Inger took out three mirrors from the drawer and linked them together.
Bixi, the Pope, and Norihua appeared on it respectively.
"Teacher, Your Majesty, please come to the palace, the king's bedroom."
"Noli——"
Norihua held up her hair and interrupted him: "I know, it's as we agreed beforehand, go ahead and be careful."
Alex said to Ola: "Let's go!"
"Christine! You stay here! Don't go anywhere!" Ola also grabbed his sword and shouted sternly to Christine on the bed.
Christine nodded silently.
Her hands quietly clenched the fabric in her hands.
She knew she was just a burden in the past, but she hated herself every time, wondering why she couldn't fight alongside Aura.
Inger held Alex, Alex held Ola, they touched the ground with their wands, and a teleportation formation appeared.
He had calculated the distance and route from here to the King's bedroom in advance, and the construction speed was no more than two seconds, but soon, he groaned and spat out a mouthful of blood.
"How could it be?!" Inger opened his eyes and said in disbelief.
This was his first failed attempt at teleportation.
At the same time as the transmission just failed, he sensed another formation.
[That's the reverse of how the teleportation array is written? Is that even possible?! ]
Inger's face turned pale. Even though they had made sufficient preparations, they still underestimated the queen's ability.
Alex didn't know why Inger's magic failed, so he immediately put Inger's arms on his shoulders and held his waist.
He and Ola looked at each other and said, "Stay in a straight line."
They nodded and walked out the door at the same time.
He jumped directly onto the roof, avoiding the winding stairs and corridors, then dropped directly down along the wall from above and kicked open the window of the king's room. The whole process took only one minute.
Broken glass was scattered all over the floor.
Alex and Ola stood still, and Alex put down the frightened Inger.
The person standing beside the bed tilted his head.
Queen Lucia was wearing a white dress, with half of her body splattered with glaring blood.
The guard knight fell in a pool of blood on the other side.
The emperor died in bed.
Alex immediately pushed Inger behind him.
Although it was a scene that could be recorded in a horror movie, Inger couldn't help but think that this woman was really beautiful.
That gorgeous face, the gentle smile like spring, and the horror of bloodshed all blended together in this moment, creating a beauty of opposites.
He lowered his eyes to the ground.
He could vaguely see traces of magic, and it was indeed a reverse teleportation circle.
He shuddered. This woman was different from him who came from another world. She was a real genius.
The queen took a last look at Emperor Qiu Ne who had been chopped into pieces by her, threw away the sword in her hand, and tore off the fake leather on the back of her hand, revealing the black rose pattern on it.
A magic wand as tall as her was gathered in her hand, the black handle was wrapped with thorns, the head of the wand was carved into the shape of a rose, the pistil was inlaid with purple magic stone, the color was so dark that it looked like black.
Aura and Alex holding swords.
Aura said coldly: "You are actually a wizard. You hide it very well."
Inger's hand holding the wand was a little painful. He said, "Level eight."
The Queen was originally at level seven, and her successful promotion to level eight meant that…
Alex's face turned dark instantly.
Lucia's voice was as soft as spring water:
"Before I go, I have a few words to say to you." Her eyes were fixed on Inger.
Inger had already put a protective shield on the three people. He asked, "What did you say?"
He knew that many villains had a habit of talking nonsense.
But he was grateful for that. He had already experienced the consequences of the villain not talking nonsense, and he didn't want to experience it a second time.
Just then the door opened.
Bixi ran in and stood behind them.
Inger breathed a sigh of relief, then thought of the people who were sacrificed, and hurriedly asked, "Teacher, are you okay?"
Lucia smiled.
Alex and Ola both turned their heads in shock. Ola didn't dare to move. She gritted her teeth and pointed the sword at Lucia. Alex moved the sword towards Inger - to be precise, the person behind Inger.
Inger looked down blankly and could only see a slender arm across his shoulders.
In the blind spot of his neck where he couldn't see, there was a large silver fruit knife, the blade pressed against his skin, leaving a bloody mark.
