Chapter 39 Using a borrowed knife to kill

Jin Feng rushed to the door, flung it open, and saw a maidservant stumble back two steps, nearly falling to the ground in terror...

On the ground lay a shattered teacup.

"You son of a bitch! How dare you eavesdrop?"

Jin Feng was furious. She grabbed the maid's ear and dragged her into the study.

"Madam, please calm down..."

Jiang Ming wanted to step forward and try to mediate, but didn't want to cause too much of a commotion.

But Jin Feng was already furious, and she glared at Jiang Ming with a ferocious expression: "Mind your own business!"

Then, she grabbed the maid's ear and threw her to the ground, causing the maid to scream in pain.

"Speak! Who sent you! Was it that old codger?" Jin Feng's voice was extremely sharp, like a vengeful ghost.

The maidservant, tears streaming down her face, shook her head in terror, "No, no one sent me, it was...it was..."

She hesitated, as if she had something difficult to say.

"Speak quickly!"

Jin Feng pulled out the gold hairpin from her hair and suddenly stabbed it at the maid's arm.

"Will you tell me or not? Will you tell me or not?"

"Ahhh!"

......

The maid's arm was bleeding profusely from the stab wound, and Jiang Ming quickly stepped forward to stop Jin Feng.

"Madam, don't rush! Let her finish speaking, otherwise you could stab her to death and she still wouldn't be able to say anything..."

Alright, Jin Feng gave Jiang Ming some face, and scolded the maid like a vengeful ghost, "Speak!"

The maidservant, her eyes brimming with tears, choked out, "Madam, it's...it's the Prefect, he..."

What's wrong with him?

Upon hearing what the maid said, Jin Feng subconsciously tensed up and hurriedly frowned and asked.

"He, he went to a brothel... Madam instructed that if the Prefect were to go out, he must inform Madam. I was afraid of delaying things, so... that's why I came here," the maid said, her face streaked with tears and blood still flowing from her arm.

"Didn't that old geezer send you?"

Hearing the maid say that, Jin Feng's anger subsided considerably, and her tone softened a lot.

The maid shook her head frantically: "No, no, the old lady is sick and is resting in her room."

"Hmm... what did you hear just now?" Jin Feng asked, her fox-like eyes narrowing coldly.

"I...I didn't hear anything."

"Didn't you hear me? Didn't you hear me... then why did you smash your teacup?"

"I fell by accident..."

"Bullshit! If you don't tell the truth today, I'll stab you to death!"

After saying that, Jin Feng was about to stab the maid again, but Jiang Ming quickly stopped her: "Oh, Madam, she's just a little girl, why make things difficult for her?"

"What do you know? These lowly bastards have the most gossipy mouths..."

Jin Feng narrowed her eyes at Jiang Ming, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in her gaze.

In fact, Jiang Ming understood what Jin Feng meant...

How could such well-trained maids possibly break teacups or similar items for no reason?

They probably wouldn't even be worth as much as these teacups, so they would definitely be very cautious in their actions.

However, the fact that the teacup was suddenly smashed in front of Jin Feng's study, especially since it was her motherly figure, meant she must have overheard something she shouldn't have, and was momentarily terrified.

If this maid doesn't keep her mouth shut and goes around gossiping, it will indeed cause trouble for herself and Jin Feng.

"Tsk! How about this..."

Jiang Ming said with a smile, "My family is short of someone to do the hard work. How about I take her back to Chenjia Village and keep a close watch on her? What do you think, Madam?"

Jiang Ming winked at Jin Feng and subconsciously touched his neck, making a rubbing motion...

Jin Feng was incredibly clever; she 'grasped' Jiang Ming's subtext of wanting to "kill him to silence him."

"Fine!"

Jin Feng rolled her eyes and said, "From now on, you'll be following Lord Jiang. Are you willing?"

"This servant is willing! This servant is willing!"

The girl's arm was still bleeding, and she kept kowtowing to Jiang Ming.

It's clear that working in a place like the Prefect's Mansion is fraught with danger; you never know when you might lose your life.

A tree dies when transplanted, but a person thrives. Following this Lord Jiang might actually offer a way out.

Jiang Ming naturally wouldn't actually harm her. He felt sorry for the girl and thought she was quite pretty, resembling one of his female classmates from high school.

It'll be fine once it's under control. She can help out her younger sister with chores and such. Right now, she doesn't even have a maid in her own home.

"Who did the Prefect go to the brothel with?"

Jiang Ming asked with a smile, "Do you know which brothel you went to? Oh... don't be afraid, you're my maid now, Madam won't prick you anymore..."

Upon hearing Jiang Ming's words, a glimmer of light finally appeared in the maid's muddled eyes. She swallowed hard and said, "He went with Zhao Yong, the special envoy from Jin. It seems they went to that place called Zuifeng Pavilion, saying it was to help Lord Zhao relax... Madam, Lord Jiang, please don't say I told you. I came to inform you, Madam. I'm on your side... If the Prefect knew I told you, he would definitely..."

"Alright, alright, stop with the internal strife!"

Jiang Ming frowned and smiled, "You'll be my maid from now on. No one will make things difficult for you. Go down and bandage your wound; you're making a mess of blood everywhere."

"This servant understands, thank you, Master, thank you, Madam..."
