Chapter 23 Another Promotion Coming Soon: "Do you like Dad or Mom more...?"

Chapter 23 Another Promotion Coming Soon: "Do you like Dad or Mom more...?"

Xueyan was pulled out by Zijuan. Before they could even stand still, Zijuan said, "How did you take care of the young lady? When she has a cold, she should fast and eat light food. Master Bao specifically instructed me to do so last time. Why didn't you listen?"

Xueyan is usually quiet and not particularly outstanding compared to Zijuan, but she is also quite opinionated.

"The girl has been starving for several days. Now that she's recovered, shouldn't she be allowed to eat?"

Zijuan was a little anxious: "When the young lady came back at noon, her cheeks were flushed, which clearly meant she had a fever again. What if she gets indigestion from eating so much meat? Last time, when Master Bao was sick, he didn't eat any meat for half a month, not even a drop of meat soup, and that's how he recovered."

"It was my oversight," Xueyan said anxiously. "I remember we also have hawthorn pills. Let's go find some."

She then dragged Zijuan to two small rooms to look for hawthorn pills. This commonly used Chinese medicine was always kept in each hospital, but it took some effort to find it by going back and forth.

Because Xueyan deliberately delayed her, by the time Zijuan returned, Lin Daiyu had already finished two small bowls of stewed pork ribs.

To be honest, the bowls used for eating in the backyard were quite small. If it were Mu Chuan, he could eat bowl after bowl like that forever. But for Lin Daiyu, this was a rare instance of her having a good appetite.

Zijuan sighed worriedly, then broke the seal on the hawthorn pill: "Miss, take the pill to avoid indigestion."

Lin Daiyu didn't refuse it, but she looked at the casserole on the table with a little reluctance. There was still quite a lot left, but unfortunately she couldn't eat it all.

"You can take it and divide it up."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Jia Baoyu's voice came from outside: "Good sister, let me have a taste too."

At noon, in Grandmother Jia's room, Lin Daiyu treated him very gently, and Jia Baoyu felt that Lin Daiyu had made up with him.

However, when it was time for lunch in the afternoon, Xiren served him while saying enviously, "I wonder what kind of food the Earl of Zhongyong sent to Miss Lin. It was such a big food box, carried all the way from the front yard. Many people saw it. Miss Lin has always been on good terms with Master Bao. Master Bao, eat slowly. Maybe someone will come to call you from over there soon."

Xi Ren knew that the two had been arguing these past few days, and besides, it was always Bao Yu who was pursuing Miss Lin, while Miss Lin was rather aloof. In order to minimize the chance that Bao Yu would realize that she was trying to sow discord, Xi Ren smiled and said, "If there are any extras, let me have a taste too."

One sentence made Jia Baoyu lose his appetite: "Why didn't Lin Daiyu call me when she got something new? In the past, whatever I had, I always shared it with her."

Xiren was quite happy, but seeing Bao Erye's expression, though he said that, he looked aggrieved and not angry at all. Instead, he seemed to feel that he had done something wrong, and she knew it wouldn't be that easy.

After waiting for a while and still no one came, Jia Baoyu went over by himself. As soon as he entered, he saw the leftover stewed pork ribs that they had divided up.

When he was in a good mood, Jia Baoyu was completely unpretentious. He served himself some rice, took a couple of bites, and said, "This tastes a bit strange. Why did the Marquis of Zhongyong send me such a dish?"

Although Jia Baoyu's ancestral home is Jinling, he has never even left the capital, let alone Jinling, and his tastes are entirely those of the capital.

Lin Daiyu was not happy to hear him say that.

"I like it, I love to eat it," she said irritably.

Jia Baoyu said, "I never hear you mention this before. If you like this, we can eat it often from now on."

Lin Daiyu was speechless, choked by his words.

If you're talking about kindness, no one in the Jia family is kinder than him. But he's had such a smooth life that if you really want to count the grievances he's suffered... aside from what he's given himself, the only other thing is the argument he had with Qingwen. Nothing else.

He ordered the food, and the maids in his courtyard ordered the food. The small kitchen didn't dare to accept even half a copper coin. Even if they didn't know how to make a dish, they would learn how to make it outside overnight and cook it for him.

No one in the Jia family was more naive or more kind-hearted than him.

He couldn't understand what it meant to have to be mindful of others' feelings even when eating; he saw no bad people in people.

"If you don't like it, then don't eat it. There are side dishes over there; you can eat with those."

"The red dates are quite delicious." Jia Baoyu picked out two more dates.

After having another meal at Xiaoxiang Pavilion, Jia Baoyu said, "It's getting cold, and you might cough if you go out. It's also not good for you to go out to digest your food. I'll stay and talk to you for a bit before I leave."

They exchanged a few casual words, and as dusk fell, Lin Daiyu instructed Zijuan to light palace lanterns to see him off.

Jia Baoyu said, "Sister, stay inside and don't come out. It's cold outside."

Zijuan escorted Jia Baoyu all the way to Yihong Courtyard.

“The girl is still not fully recovered. She had chicken soup and several pieces of meat for lunch, and for dinner, she ate several pieces of ribs... I didn’t see them.” Zijuan said worriedly, “I don’t know what’s wrong? I feel a little worried.”

Zijuan was originally a maid of Grandmother Jia. Jia Baoyu was raised in Grandmother Jia's room since he was a child. All the maids knew that if they were slightly disrespectful to Grandmother Jia, they would be scolded by Yuanyang, but if they were disrespectful to Master Bao, they might be kicked out.

So even though Zijuan had been with Lin Daiyu for over ten years, she still subconsciously believed that Jia Baoyu was the best and most important person in her heart.

Jia Baoyu comforted her, saying, "Your young lady's illness this time wasn't serious to begin with. It was because I upset her last time that she caught a cold without wearing shoes. If you're really worried, I'll go back and look through some medical books. I was the one who prescribed the medicine for Qingwen when she was sick last time."

Zijuan was relieved and agreed.

As the two were talking about Lin Daiyu, they unknowingly found themselves standing by the roadside.

Xiren waited and waited for Baoyu to return, but he still didn't come back. She was worried that it was against the rules for him to stay in Xiaoxiang Pavilion. She also thought that since Madam had entrusted Baoyu to her care, and Baoyu's behavior was out of line, she naturally had to advise him. So she took a lantern and went out to look for him.

From afar, Xiren saw Zijuan and Bao Erye standing very close together, talking intimately.

She greeted them from afar, and her voice was quite loud.

"If the master doesn't worry, why don't you? We're all servants, what's there to hide? Why can't we talk about it inside, why do we have to do it outside?"

Zijuan felt that these words were not very pleasant to hear, but seeing Xiren's anxious expression, and knowing that everything in Yihong Courtyard depended on her, and that she was usually extremely concerned about Bao Erye, she didn't say much.

"Now that Sister Xiren is here, I'll head back. I still need to take care of the young lady."

Xiren, however, felt that she was guilty. Zijuan was a scheming person. Last time, she scared Bao Erye to the point of madness by talking about Miss Lin. She might have had the idea of marrying Bao Erye along with Miss Lin. Besides, maids are originally the son-in-law's people.

Xiren, carrying a lantern, led the way while half-jokingly complaining to Jia Baoyu, "Second Master, don't you know I was waiting at home? If you're coming back so late, you should at least send someone to let us know."

Jia Baoyu had been taught this way since he was a child, so he naturally didn't realize it and had to soften his voice to apologize: "Good sister, I won't do it again."

Xi Ren smiled, but pretended to be serious: "I remember what you promised me last time. If you can't do it, I'm leaving."

Jia Baoyu took her hand again: "Let me warm it for you."

On one side, Jia Baoyu was once again tied up by Xiren, while on the other side, Grandmother Jia was looking at the two good-for-nothing father and son in front of her, and was furious.

“Today, the Marquis of Zhongyong came to visit, and none of you can be trusted! One of you is drunk all day long, another has disappeared and we can’t find him anywhere. You’re always hanging around in front of me when nothing’s wrong, but none of you can be relied on when something happens!”

After scolding Jia She, Grandmother Jia scolded Jia Lian and brought up some old grievances before letting everyone leave.

Still not satisfied, Grandmother Jia ordered Yuanyang, "Give all the maids and servants on duty in the front yard today ten strokes of the cane and send them to the estate to farm!"

Yuanyang could probably guess what was on Grandmother Jia's mind.

Master Bao's behavior today... is truly unbecoming.

Firstly, Grandmother Jia couldn't bear to scold him, and secondly... since Bao Er Ye was raised by the old lady, criticizing Bao Er Ye would be like slapping herself in the face, so she could only direct her anger at others.

And the reasons are indeed plausible.

The eldest master was drunk all day long, and the second master Lian was in charge of the general affairs of the Jia family. In theory, he was responsible for receiving guests. Although the Earl of Zhongyong's visit was unexpected, it was still under the second master Lian's jurisdiction.

As for the maids and servants in the front yard, it's even simpler. They couldn't find Master Bao and made the old lady worry. Shouldn't they be punished for that?

Yuanyang responded with a "yes" and went out to give instructions to the steward of the outer courtyard.

Jia She didn't care much about this. He had already been kicked out of the Rongguo Mansion, and the huge mansion and ancestral property had nothing to do with him. Without power, he naturally had no responsibility. What difference would a few curses make? He would just pretend he didn't hear them.

Back in his own courtyard, he acted as if nothing had happened, drinking and eating as usual, and cuddling his concubine while listening to music.

Jia Lian was different. He was the heir of the Rongguo Mansion and had also obtained the official title of Tongzhi through donation. He represented the Rongguo Mansion in social interactions. Although he was not as respectable as before, he still maintained a semblance of respect. He felt uncomfortable being scolded by the old lady like this.

There was no way to talk about this with the concubine. When Jia Lian arrived at Wang Xifeng's room, he waved for Ping'er to leave and said, "What's wrong with the old lady today? She's scolding me like I'm her grandson. Aren't you going to try to stop her?"

“You are her grandson,” Wang Xifeng said sarcastically, before adding, “The Marquis of Zhongyong is here today.”

Jia Lian knew this.

"The old lady couldn't find anyone, so she sent Baoyu, but he ran away halfway through."

Jia Lian sneered: "Then you should scold him, why scold me? It's not like I taught him."

Having said that, Jia Lian understood what was going on.

He sat down next to Wang Xifeng, softened his voice and called her Second Madam, and said in a flattering tone, "I heard that the Marquis of Dingnan wants to recognize the Earl of Zhongyong as his adopted son. Does your family have an invitation? Both of them are from Pingnan Town. Your uncle is the Inspector General of Nine Provinces, so he should be in charge of Pingnan Town."

Wang Xifeng glanced at him disdainfully and said, "Invitations haven't been sent out yet. The Marquis of Zhongyong has already visited your Jia family twice. What, Second Master, are you still worried about this?"

Jia Lian said, "Things haven't been going well lately, so we need to find more connections and get to know more people."

"Just wait, the news hasn't spread yet." Wang Xifeng closed her eyes after saying that. Jia Lian knew she didn't intend to talk to him. He stood up to leave, but then heard Wang Xifeng ask, "Do you really think your sister has finally come to her senses?"

The fact that Wang Xifeng asked this question proves that there is another hidden story, but Jia Lian doesn't care about this. He is more than ten years younger than Yingchun and they don't grow up together. Besides, he has heard the maids in the room talk about it before.

The three sisters combined don't even come as often as Lin Daiyu.

Jia Lian waved his hand: "Whether she's enlightened or not, it's none of my business whether she's married or not. Whether she's a concubine or a wife, it doesn't bother me."

Wang Xifeng was unwell, and Jia Lian initially pretended to care a bit, but recently he hasn't even said "I'm going to Qiutong/Second Sister's room" before waving his hand and leaving.

"Men are so stupid." Wang Xifeng lay down again, looking for a way to get some more money, otherwise the year would be hard to get through.

On the other side, Mu Chuan and General Li had discussed who to invite before returning to the Marquis of Zhongyong's residence.

The mansion has been largely tidied up. Although people haven't officially moved in yet, it's already habitable.

No sooner had he sat down than Granny Shen came to pay her respects, before he had even finished his cup of water.

"General, this is a silver ingot given to you by Miss Lin." Granny Shen smiled and placed the silver ingot on the table.

When she returned with the food, she was immediately surrounded by everyone from the Earl's mansion, their gossip-loving nature fully satisfied, and they didn't keep her in suspense at all.

Mu Chuan looked at the silver ingot, then at Granny Shen's smiling face, and asked, "You did a good job. What do you want?"

"I want a big knife that weighs eighteen pounds."

“You’ve always been in the training ground, so you must have an 18-pound broadsword.”

"That's all," said Granny Shen. "We have no worries about food or clothing, and we're quite content."

After Granny Shen took her leave, Mu Chuan called Miao Zhenchuan over and said with a smile, "Make Granny Shen another large steel knife, and plate it with gold."

"What's going on here?" Miao Zhenchuan chuckled twice and asked, "What does the general plan to send to Miss Lin tomorrow? I see they've already started lining up."

Mu Chuan chuckled twice: "It's true what they say, the emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is. If you don't send it tomorrow, send it the day after!"

Lin Daiyu had a fulfilling day. She got enough exercise, socialized, and her mind worked. She also ate a good meal. By the end of the 7 PM, she was yawning and feeling sleepy.

Lying in bed, the thought of the return gift she gave to her third brother made her sleepiness disappear again.

She deliberately didn't mention returning the gift at all today, because she didn't want to lie to her third brother.

Yuanyang said that her maternal grandmother had changed the gifts, given her a plaque, and suggested that Baoyu go to the banquet in her place, all for her own good, but this was not what she wanted.

She has spent over a decade “doing what’s best for you,” and now she wants what’s best for herself.

But Third Brother didn't mention returning the gift at all. Why was that? Third Brother is very observant; he could tell she was sick even from the makeup. So…could it be…?

Lin Daiyu was a little nervous; did he already know?

Not far away, in the Zhongyong Earl's mansion, Mu Chuan sighed softly.

He regretted it a little; he should have brought it up today. But Miss Lin was crying by his side.

He hesitated at first, worried that since he had only met Miss Lin twice and they weren't very familiar with each other, saying directly, "The plaque you gave me wasn't it," would make her angry and resentful towards him.

After all, his previously peaceful life was exposed.

If she feels embarrassed and angry and avoids him, his original plan to get to know her will be greatly compromised.

Of course, you can still marry her, but marrying someone you both love is different from directly asking the emperor for a marriage decree or forcibly taking her as your wife. When it comes to marriage, the girl herself must agree.

But Miss Lin cried in his arms.

It certainly wasn't because of illness.

Emotions cannot be controlled by reason, nor can they be rushed by plans.

"Sigh..." Mu Chuan sighed with a smile, "Beauty can be a trap." He was both helpless and happy.

Zhao Jingcheng, who was in charge of the accounts and documents, came in with a blank invitation. When he heard his general say this, especially the expression on his face, he couldn't help but complain, "If this continues, we'll end up like the feudal lords who were amused by the beacon fires."

"Absolutely not," Mu Chuan said firmly. "I definitely can't let her bear the stigma."

Oh, it's alright—ah? Is that what you're refuting?

Zhao Jingcheng opened his eyes wide and stared intently at Mu Chuan.

"If it were me, the story that would be passed down would be that the beacon fires attracted the feudal lords, and I wanted to use the opportunity to release the military power over a cup of wine. But I also brought a girl along, hoping to make her take the blame. Unfortunately, I failed. What history left behind was pity for this girl."

Zhao Jingcheng chuckled twice and handed the invitations in his hand to Mu Chuan: "Five blank ones should be enough to write invitations for His Majesty and the Emperor Emeritus."

Mu Chuan chuckled twice: "You don't understand. It's only because I wrote it wrong that it proves I wrote it myself, and that's why it has collectible value."

Zhao Jingcheng thought to himself that he really didn't know how to keep both the emperor and the retired emperor on his toes without causing a disaster.

The next morning, Mu Chuan entered the palace with the invitation he had written.

It's not very neat, and the calligraphy—don't expect him to have any calligraphy skills—is also not intentionally misspelled, as that would be unnatural.

Mu Chuan first gave the invitation to the emperor to Bai Zhong, asking him to pass it on: "I also need to send an invitation to the Emperor Emeritus. Eunuch, you go first. I estimate you've almost arrived at the Imperial Study. I'll go to the Daming Palace later."

Oh, I understand.

Bai Zhong held the invitation in both hands and went all the way to the Imperial Study to present it to the Emperor.

The emperor opened the letter, read it, and laughed: "It's alright, not elegant, but the meaning is there. It's like Qiao Yue's style, straightforward. It's just that the handwriting needs improvement."

The emperor set the invitation aside and casually asked, "Is Qiao Yue still in his hometown? He'll only be back for five or six days, right?"

Bai Zhong's heart began to pound. He truly didn't understand and was also a little scared. Having been a eunuch in the palace for so many years, he had never seen or even heard of such a thing.

"Lord Mu personally delivered the invitation."

"Oh? Where is he?"

"He went to Daming Palace." Bai Zhong didn't need to look up to guess how bad the emperor's expression was. He added, "I don't know if Lord Mu is feeling unwell. He sent me to deliver the invitation, and told me to go ahead first, and he'll go to Daming Palace later."

The emperor sighed deeply, so much so that Bai Zhong even heard a very soft whisper: "It can't be blamed on him."

"Bai Zhong, bring the imperial seal. Have them draft an edict appointing Qiao Yue as the Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Camp, to take office after the New Year. On the third day of the twelfth lunar month, the day he recognizes his adoptive father, you go and deliver the edict. Consider it my congratulatory gift. Although I cannot go in person, the sentiment is conveyed."

Bai Zhong managed to stay upright and not collapse to the ground thanks to his extraordinary willpower.

It's unbelievable! Where did the Marquis of Zhongyong learn these tricks? They work so well on His Majesty.

Even if others knew this, they wouldn't be able to use it, since who could be as bold as the Marquis of Zhongyong?

No one is the Marquis of Zhongyong.

Bai Zhong went out to announce the imperial edict of the Hanlin Academy attendants on duty that day. Although he warned himself not to think too much about it, as a eunuch, his daily routine was to try to figure out the emperor's thoughts.

What was the emperor thinking?

...I can't blame him, after all, he's the retired emperor, even I'm ranked after him. However, I received this invitation first. I will also bestow upon him the title of Grand General.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Who would believe that the emperor would think that way?

Mu Chuan has arrived at Daming Palace.

The Emperor Emeritus had gotten up late and had just finished breakfast. When he heard that Mu Chuan was requesting an audience, he quickly had Dai Quan bring him in.

"Your Majesty." Mu Chuan bowed and presented the invitation.

The retired emperor already knew that the emperor had given Mu Chuan the courtesy name "Qiao Yue," and felt that he seemed to be a step behind. However, he was the Grand General of the Imperial Guard of the Daming Palace, so it seemed that they were even.

As he flipped through the invitation, the Emperor Emeritus smiled. There was no morning court session today, and Mu Chuan was already standing here as soon as the palace gates opened. What did that mean?

Either the emperor's eunuchs delivered it, or he will personally deliver it later; in any case, the emperor will be ranked after me.

I have won.

"I am too old to leave the palace. I... will send someone to deliver a congratulatory gift to you later." The Emperor Emeritus handed the invitation to Dai Quan and instructed, "Keep it safe."

Mu Chuan looked at the Emperor Emeritus with a hint of regret: "I was originally a farmer and don't know many people in the capital. I was hoping that Your Majesty could help me out."

"You're quite honest," the Emperor Emeritus chuckled, then added, "Aren't you quite familiar with the people in the Ministry of Revenue?"

Mu Chuan smiled sheepishly: "I've just arrived in the capital and don't know the rules for doing things here yet."

"Go and send invitations to the people in the Ministry of Revenue," the Emperor Emeritus instructed him. "Since you've been appointed Vice Minister of War, you can invite people from the Ministry of War as well. Last time, when the captives were presented at the Meridian Gate, you should know a few people from the Ministry of Rites, so send them invitations. The courtyard I'm giving you is usually maintained by craftsmen from the Ministry of Works, and the Ministry of Personnel... well, the imperial decree for your promotion had to be reported to the Ministry of Personnel. And the Ministry of Justice, that's a bit difficult. Just say you've just arrived in the capital and don't know the rules, ask them for a copy of the Great Wei Code, and that will make a difference."

The retired emperor counted them one by one, and in the end, he even managed to connect them with the emperor's "personal secretaries" in the Hanlin Academy.

Dai Quan listened from the side, but had no other thoughts besides complaining.

He remembered that the retired emperor had once taught the emperor that what he feared most was ministers forming cliques and engaging in corrupt practices. Well, this loyal and brave Earl had now been caught in that pattern.

Mu Chuan listened carefully to the Emperor Emeritus's explanation, which could be summarized in one sentence: officials in the same court were all quite polite to each other, and the community was like a paradise.

"Thank you for your guidance, Your Majesty." Mu Chuan said, "I intend to keep the golden hoe that Your Majesty bestowed upon me in the ancestral hall, and have the village chief use it to hoe the first field every spring."

The retired emperor was quite satisfied and said with a smile, "It would be best if it could be put to use; it's better than having it enshrined in the Imperial Ancestral Temple to gather dust."

Mu Chuan then shared two more amusing anecdotes from the countryside before taking his leave.

The retired emperor ordered Dai Quan to escort him, but Dai Quan was gone for quite a while and returned looking very cautious.

"What's wrong?"

"His Majesty has appointed the Earl of Loyalty and Bravery as the Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Camp."

The retired emperor frowned: "Oh no, what should I send to outshine my son?"

Dai Quan felt that the Emperor Emeritus's concerns were somewhat misplaced.

Mu Chuan came out of Daming Palace and walked towards the North Gate, where he ran into Bai Zhong again.

In the short time that followed, Bai Zhong had changed into the crimson robe of a palace eunuch, holding the imperial edict in both hands, with two eunuchs following behind him, clearly on his way to deliver the edict.

Bai Zhong congratulated him, then said, "I'm here to deliver an imperial decree to General Ning, the former commander of the Northern Camp. His Majesty has granted him permission to retire and return to his hometown. However, General Ning's ancestral home is further north, so His Majesty has instructed him to leave next spring."

There are five military camps responsible for the defense of the capital: east, south, west, north, and center. The center camp is what people usually refer to as the Nine Gates Commander, and the Nine Gates are the nine inner gates of the capital. He commands the largest force, about 25,000 soldiers. The northern camp, which Mu Chuan will be in charge of, has between 6,000 and 7,000 soldiers, just like the other eastern, southern, and western camps.

Mu Chuan said, "The residence that His Majesty bestowed upon me needs to be renovated."

So that's what His Majesty meant! Bai Zhong suddenly realized that His Majesty didn't want Lord Mu to continue living in the mansion bestowed by the Emperor Emeritus.

The house His Majesty bestowed upon us is a little small, and I wonder how His Majesty plans to resolve this.

The emperor was indeed thinking about this issue, and even looked at the maps of the residences in the inner city.

The emperor's map was very detailed, showing who had been granted each street, especially the mansions that originally belonged to the royal family.

However, the emperor was in a bit of a dilemma. The house he bestowed upon Mu Chuan was located between Shuntian Prefecture and Daxing County in the north of the city. Although it was not very close to the palace, it was still one of the best places in the capital.

To put it bluntly, there are people on the left and people on the right, and this house is not as good as the one the retired emperor bestowed upon the section chief.

There's good news too. The houses on both sides were bestowed by the imperial family and are considered noble property, so they can be reclaimed. Moreover, the three houses combined are definitely much larger than the one bestowed by the retired emperor. The only problem is that the noble titles of these two families haven't been reduced low enough for them to be reclaimed.

The emperor summoned Quan Furen and said, "Go and ask these two families if you can persuade them to move to a different house. The imperial treasury can provide them with silver to move to a larger house."

Mu Chuan had already arrived at the North Gate. Although he and Bai Zhong didn't talk much along the way because of other people, Bai Zhong's eyes still betrayed him.

Mu Chuan patted him on the shoulder, everything was understood without words.

This is actually quite understandable. When the emperor and the retired emperor rule together, it's inevitable that they will compare their abilities. Especially since the retired emperor has been the emperor for many years and has been the retired emperor for more than ten years, he has everything and starts to seek sincerity.

Once the retired emperor is truly swayed, the emperor will inevitably be swayed as well. This can be seen from the emperor's thoughtfulness and consideration during their first two meetings; his efforts to win people's hearts are all too obvious.

There's another somewhat inappropriate but apt analogy, which is like asking a child whether they prefer their father or mother.

Although parents always say they shouldn't tease their children like that, and may even get angry about it, they still have some thoughts in their hearts: their children are better off with me.

The author's note: The male protagonist is currently: First-Class Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery, Grand General of the Dragon Guard of Daming Palace, Vice Minister of the Ministry of War, Grand General of the Vanguard of Pingnan Town, and soon to be the Grand General of the Northern Camp. He is almost too big to fit in one room.

I'll add it to my favorites tomorrow, and update at 11 PM tonight.
