Chapter 1122 Threat of Force

Hope's right hand holding the gun trembled slightly. After struggling for a long time, his shoulders finally relaxed and he put down the gun.

He walked forward and gently placed the pistol on the table.

Hope said dejectedly: "You are right, but I can no longer trust you."

"My entire fortune depends on the church. Although I hate the church, I don't want it to collapse or even suffer a serious blow."

"I have to admit that your weapons are really powerful. With such weapons, you should have a chance to tie with the church... But no matter what, I am definitely finished! You treat me as a tool, and the church holds my lifeblood..."

The more Hope spoke, the deeper his voice became.

Lai Gou'er said calmly, "Brother Hope, if you think we can only tie with the church, then you underestimate Dajing. Besides, no matter what, you have made contributions to Dajing. I guarantee with my life that the court will never treat you unfairly."

"You and I know each other quite well. You should know how I treat people. Da Jing has a powerful weapon but he has always remained restrained and low-key. This also shows the attitude of our country. Don't worry too much. I will take you to see something new later."

Hope raised his hand and smiled bitterly: "Don't say anything, I'll draw for you... You won't let me go, right? I don't have any other ideas now, I just hope you can let me go after the painting is finished."

"I need to think about this, you draw it first."

Hearing this, Hope said no more, walked forward, picked up a pen and paper, and started drawing on the paper with a frown.

Halfway through the painting, there was a knock on the door.

Duke Alvis, dressed in his best attire, pushed open the door and walked in. He smiled and said, "Lord Lai, I heard that you have something important to discuss with me?"

Lai Gou'er nodded, turned his head to look at the two soldiers guarding the door, and said, "You two come in too and close the door."

The soldier then went in and closed the door.

Duke Alvis was a little confused. Seeing Hope lying on the table writing and drawing, he asked, "Who is he? Your new guest?"

"Come on, tie up the Duke!"

The soldiers received the order and one of them quickly grabbed Duke Alvis' hands behind his back and pinned him to the ground.

Another man pulled out a rope from behind and quickly tied Duke Alvis to the ground.

Everything happened in a flash, and Duke Alvis's mind went blank.

His eyes were still fixed on Hope.

Hope looked back and shrugged: "Don't look at me, I'm a hostage too."

Duke Alvis's face suddenly turned pale, and he looked at Lai Gou'er in horror: "Are you crazy? Why did you tie me up?"

Lai Gouer tilted his head and smiled at him, then raised his pistol and shot him once near the ear.

The shot went straight through the wall behind Duke Alvis, leaving a deep hole.

The bullet passed by the Duke's head, causing his eardrums to buzz.

Duke Alvis looked at the gun in Lai Gou'er's hand with fear and his pupils shrank sharply.

What the hell!

Lai Gou'er smiled evilly: "Duke, I asked you to come here today because I really have something important to discuss, but I need you to listen quietly first."

"Then I won't waste any more words. The business conflicts between the church and Dajing are already deep. We have already discussed it in advance, right? Our current business model is unsustainable."

"Moreover, there are many rumors about Father Soljie's independent development in Feika... You should know better than me what the church's attitude is towards this matter."

"I'm here to discuss one thing with you. Dajing needs to station troops in Feika in advance to deal with possible conflicts with the church in the future. We can even take the possibility of an active attack. What do you think?"

May I have any advice?

You tied me up and tried to kill me with that weird thing, and now you ask me what I think!

Duke Alvis' eyes turned red, and he was about to open his mouth to scold, but Hope at the side spoke calmly.

"He must be saying, you are crazy! Your country is crazy. Who gave you the courage to attack the church? How many troops and supplies do you have?"

How did he know?

The words that Duke Alvis had about to say were choked back, and he roared, "I tell you, this is a foolish dream! You may not have any rivals in the East, but this is the Church!"

Lai Gou'er and Hope looked at each other.

Hope shrugged and sighed, "I'm sorry, my expression might have been too ferocious before."

"It's okay, I understand." Lai Gou'er said, and then looked at Duke Alvis.

"Duke, I invited you here today to watch a big show. I'm sure your thoughts will change after you finish watching the show."

"Brother Hope is helping me draw the interior of the temple right now. Please wait a moment. When he finishes, we will go out and watch the show."

The interior of the temple? What are they going to do?

Duke Alvis clenched his teeth, lowered his head and remained silent.

There was no way. He could do nothing now and could only obey orders here.

This damn bastard had evil intentions, and he didn't even realize it.

The situation here must have been known by the higher-ups in Dajing. If he had known this, he should have informed the church earlier.

Now I have made a lot of money, but my life is about to be lost...

Just as he was racking his brains to think of a solution, Hope had finished drawing the blueprint.

He picked it up, shook it, and showed it to Lai Gou'er, saying, "Brother Lai, I've finished drawing it. I've marked everything that needs to be marked for you. You can ask me any questions you have."

Lai Gou'er said, "Take the blueprint first. I can't tell right from wrong. Maybe you remembered it wrongly and you need to make corrections later."
