Chapter 28 Moving into the Master Bedroom
She was probably too tired. Although Cheng Hexi said she had caught up on her sleep, she still fell asleep in the passenger seat.
She's always been a light sleeper. Even though she was so exhausted that night in Manhattan, when You Yue quietly returned to bed after tidying everything up, she was still disturbed and unconsciously frowned.
The sports car came to a smooth stop in the parking space.
She showed no signs of waking up this time and remained fast asleep.
She was dressed in a sharp suit, even her earrings were of the refined and elegant type, yet her sleeping face was so gentle, creating a striking contrast.
The parking lot was lit, but not brightly or glaringly, and a row of luxury cars stood silently opposite. You Yue didn't even turn on the overhead light, sitting quietly in this enclosed space where only the two of them were, consciously keeping his breathing light.
He was considering whether to stay here with her and sleep for a while.
Bentleys are comfortable and practical, with top-quality leather seats and spacious interiors. In terms of comfort alone, they far surpass even some of Bentley's own sports cars.
But even the most comfortable bed can't compare to the one at home.
After sitting there for half a minute with his eyes downcast, You Yue made a decision, quietly unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out of the car.
He opened the passenger door, didn't wake Cheng Hexi, put her arm around his neck, bent down and carried her out of the car.
Cheng Hexi woke up briefly as she got out of her seat.
You Yue noticed her frown, so he used one hand to gently pat her twice and whispered, "Go to sleep, I'll carry you back."
Cheng Hexi then belatedly realized that she was being steadily supported by the man's arms, her body pressed against his warm and firm chest.
She was still half-asleep, and in her dazed state, she heard his words and instinctively let her guard down. Perhaps because of the precedent of him lifting her with one hand, Cheng Hexi trusted his embrace completely, and even unconsciously snuggled closer to make herself more comfortable.
You Yue noticed her movement and stiffened slightly.
Her long hair fell across his arm, her soft body nestled in his embrace. Cheng Hexi still wore the familiar light woody scent, a subtle fragrance lingering in the air.
She was extremely tired, and the sudden relaxation overwhelmed her with drowsiness. You Yue carried her back to the villa, and she didn't open her eyes again, drifting off to sleep once more.
As I stepped inside, it was already dark, with the last rays of light streaming into the room through the bright French windows.
Even with my eyes closed, I feel uncomfortable when suddenly exposed to strong light.
You Yue saw her eyelashes drooping under her lower eyelids. Without turning on the light, he used this sliver of light to walk into the elevator and carried her to the side-lying room.
She had just slept on her side-lying bed that afternoon; the sheets were neatly arranged, but the blankets were not folded.
The traces of life were too obvious. When You Yue first entered this place after Cheng Hexi moved in, he was almost enveloped by her scent, as if he had invaded her world.
The man's arms were very steady. He knelt on one knee on the bed and gently placed the person on the soft mattress.
Cheng Hexi rolled over almost as soon as she touched the bed, her stiletto heels brushing against You Yue's trousers.
You Yue lowered his eyes, revealing no emotion, and reached out to wrap his arms around her ankles, helping her take off her high heels.
Previously, he never imagined that he would be willing to do such a thing.
His fingertips were much rougher than Cheng Hexi's skin. His slender fingers brushed across her ankle, sending a shiver down her spine. The warm touch soon disappeared.
The high heels landed silently on the expensive carpet.
Since they had already slept together, there was no need to pretend to be reserved. However, You Yue didn't want to help her take off her clothes, so he asked her if it was okay to sleep like this.
Cheng Hexi almost lost consciousness when she touched the familiar bed, but the question brought her back to her senses.
"Could you bring me my nightgown? I'll change myself. I shouldn't... be sleeping until tomorrow morning."
"good."
You Yue was about to get up to help her get her clothes when the person on the bed noticed his movement, reached out, and grabbed his hand.
The force was very light, yet it made the man stop moving.
"What's wrong?" he asked softly.
Cheng Hexi blinked and decided to resolve today's problem today.
She said, "I actually wanted to tell you in the car that my original plan was to land in the evening, but I suddenly had a dinner appointment, so I returned early. I was in a hurry and forgot to tell you."
You Yue never expected her to bring this up.
He took a deep breath discreetly in the darkness, placed her hand back on the blanket, and got up to get his robe.
The silk fabric was cool and smooth; his hands were large, with distinct knuckles, almost too big to hold.
Back at the bedside, You Yue touched her face and asked, "Why did you bring this up?"
She looked at the man beside the bed: "Because we are husband and wife, you always tell me that."
couple.
He repeated those two words to himself, then smiled and said, "So you think you have to do it too?"
Her shimmering gaze swept over the man's face in the dim light: "I'll let you know if I change my plans next time."
“Okay,” You Yue leaned down to look at her, his tone as usual, but his gaze carried a subtle hint of aggression: “Tell me every time after that.”
Cheng Hexi nodded in agreement.
He knelt on one knee by the bed, parted the thin, soft blanket, and began to unbutton her shirt.
Cheng Hexi's chest heaved as she let him do as he pleased.
You Yue moved slowly and methodically, and soon he took off his shirt. Without taking off his bra first, he slid his hand down his ribs.
She shuddered almost imperceptibly.
She carried a faint scent of shower gel, and her skin was smooth and delicate, suggesting she had taken a shower after landing.
He simply changed into his bathrobe. After changing, You Yue pulled the covers up, propped himself up on the edge of the bed, and asked, "You and Louis seem to get along well?"
He brought up Louis again.
"...Are you really bothered?"
You Yue looked at her and this time admitted, "Yes."
He mentioned, "On Jingyao's birthday banquet, at the dance after the meal, we danced the waltz. You said your waltz was taught by your neighbor in Paris. Was it him?"
At that time, the two of them were not very familiar with each other. They chatted casually for a few minutes while dancing, and Cheng Hexi had forgotten about it, but You Yue actually remembered it.
She smiled and said, "Yes."
Paris is a city of romance, and waltzing is a must-learn skill, which is perfectly normal.
Cheng Hexi said, "We were on good terms when we were kids, but then I went back to Beijing and we haven't been in touch since."
The reason Louis was mentioned only briefly at first was because she thought he wasn't important; it turns out that's what Youyue was thinking.
The straps of her robe were very thin, and her long hair was spread out on the bed, with a few strands falling onto her fair skin.
You Yue hummed in agreement, looked away, picked up the remote control from the bedside table, pulled the blackout curtains shut, then bent down and covered her eyes with his hand.
"Go to sleep."
Cheng Hexi noticed something, and her eyelashes trembled slightly.
Lying by the door, You Yue shut the ambiguous moment from before in the room, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and stood silently for a long time.
-
Cheng Hexi slept until 11 o'clock before finally recovering from the immense exhaustion.
She turned on the bedside lamp, but still felt groggy, so she drew back the curtains and turned on the brightest light.
She walked to the French windows, where the garden lawn outside lay silent under the dim light. Perhaps she had slept too long, for she felt a little stuffy and wanted to breathe some fresh air.
I turned around and looked for my phone on the bed. After searching for a while, I found it on the bedside table.
While having dinner at the club, Cheng Hexi's phone battery was almost at the red end. When she turned on the screen again, the battery was full, at 100%, even though it wasn't plugged into the charger.
In other words, when You Yue brought her back, he remembered to charge her phone.
I checked the phone's battery level again later and unplugged it after it was fully charged.
This person is really...
Her cell phone was on the bedside table, and ibuprofen and heat packs were inside.
When seemingly unrelated things are put together, they all reflect You Yue's thoughtfulness and good manners.
She saw unread messages from Xu Zhumeng on her phone. She opened them and found that the most recent one was from an hour ago.
Xu Zhumeng's filming is about to wrap up, and she's been so busy lately that her schedule is completely chaotic. Afraid of disturbing her rest, Cheng Hexi only replied with one sentence:
【Zhu Meng, are you asleep?】
She didn't reply.
She stretched, went into the bathroom and took a shower. She still felt sleepy from just waking up, but her mind was very clear.
He came to a clear-headed thought about the problem of swimming across the river.
By the time Xu Zhumeng replied, Cheng Hexi had already dried her hair and carried a pillow with a faint scent of shower gel to the master bedroom.
She had poor sleep quality, yet preferred a spot by the window. Youyue's pillow, which had originally been in the center, had now been moved to the other side.
The two bedrooms are styled the same, but the master bathroom is larger and doesn't have carpet; otherwise, they are not much different.
The black silk four-piece bedding set perfectly suits Youyue's temperament, and the mattress is also from that foreign brand—expensive and comfortable.
Xu Zhumeng said she had just finished showering and was now applying a face mask, and asked if she could video chat with her.
Cheng Hexi dialed the number directly.
The call was answered quickly.
Although Xu Zhumeng has been tired lately, she's in pretty good shape. She sat in front of the vanity mirror, her hair a little messy.
"I thought you were still working overtime."
Cheng Hexi smiled and said, "I don't really love my job that much."
"Really? That doesn't sound like something you'd say." Xu Zhumeng's face was hidden behind a face mask. She asked, "When did you return to Beijing?"
"This afternoon." She pulled a pillow over her shoulder and sat up on the bed, casually playing with her long hair with the hand that wasn't holding her phone. She said, "After landing, I went home and slept for a while. I had a dinner party tonight, and I was so tired when I got home that I fell asleep again."
Cheng Hexi is a high-energy person. The fact that she's so exhausted shows just how busy she's been lately.
Xu Zhumeng on the other end of the line felt sorry for him: "Did you have insomnia again? Did you eat properly?"
"I haven't been having insomnia; I've been sleeping quite well lately." She paused, then smiled. "Don't worry about me; I'm not a child."
Cheng Hexi avoided the second question, but Xu Zhumeng noticed and gave her a lecture.
Xu Zhumeng has a happy family and is doted on by her parents and brother, which has made her very loving. She can't help but worry about Cheng Hexi.
She knew Xu Zhumeng meant well and felt comforted.
She was indeed all alone before, and her best friend was Xu Zhumeng, but things are different now.
-
It was still early when he came out from his side-lying position; there were still several hours before he usually went to sleep.
You Yue took a shower, swam in the pool for twenty minutes, and then went to the study to work.
During that time, I went to check on Cheng Hexi while she was lying on her side. I saw that her phone was fully charged and I unplugged the charger.
She had probably rolled around halfway across the bed; now she was sleeping on her side, no longer in the upright sleeping position she had been in when he left.
The faint moonlight gently seeped into the room through the single layer of blackout curtains, and her face was serene and peaceful.
Around midnight, You Yue put down her phone and went back to the third floor.
The door to the master bedroom was slightly ajar, and a sliver of light shone through the crack onto the floor near the doorway.
As he walked over, the light shone onto his trouser leg.
Did he forget to turn off the lights? Impossible. So, Cheng Hexi really moved into the master bedroom?
The door was pushed open gently and silently, and the light in the room became angled, illuminating the doorway and extending all the way behind him.
The woman who had just been thinking about him lay on her side on his bed. The room was at a comfortable temperature, her rounded shoulders were exposed to the air, and her long hair was spread out on his blanket.
