Chapter 44: Putting the Wedding Ring on Her
Perhaps realizing her rare initiative, You Yue was fiercer that night than ever before.
His bedding has always been quite good. In the previous times, he was always the type who knew how to coax and stop, and he spoke very nicely, prioritizing Cheng Hexi's happiness.
I don't know what's wrong with me today.
Is it because she didn't admit that she missed him?
You Yue asked this question several times during their lovemaking. In the end, Cheng Hexi couldn't utter a complete sentence. She could only bury her head in his shoulder, turn her head away and say she wanted to, her hand tracing the man's firm back muscles. After a while, she couldn't help but curse him in her heart.
By this time, You Yue had taken off all his suit jacket. The two were entangled by the bedside.
Several red marks were drawn on his sculpted back muscles.
It should have hurt a little, but he seemed oblivious, focusing only on holding Cheng Hexi's chin and kissing her fiercely, while the person in his arms had tears welling up in her eyes.
You Yue reached out and gently wiped away her tears with his fingertips.
"It's because you're not being honest, wife."
Hearing her say "I want to," he seemed to have finally succeeded and became relaxed and at ease again.
After an unknown amount of time, Cheng Hexi was put back on the bed.
She bit her lip, her back pressed against the soft, delicate silk sheets, and gently tilted her chin up.
The man's hand left her beautiful shoulder blades, followed the curve of her waist downwards, and then bent down to kiss Cheng Hexi's red lips, preventing her teeth from making a sound.
She finally cursed at You Yue, then restrained herself from taking her hands away and wrapped them around his neck.
My legs could barely hold on.
Upon hearing that, You Yue responded good-naturedly, focusing only on praising her beauty.
...
Fortunately, he still had a conscience. You Yue knew that she had been discharged from the hospital not long ago, so he only did it once tonight.
Cheng Hexi felt more tired than ever before.
She thought back and realized that compared to today, the man's previous behavior was actually quite gentle and restrained.
Afterwards, Cheng Hexi lay on the bed, not wanting to move. You Yue, on the other hand, was in a good mood and held her in his arms, wanting to take her to take a shower.
Cheng Hexi brushed his hand away, closed her eyes in refusal, and said she could wash herself.
The bathroom wasn't a safe place either, and she wanted to get as far away from swimming as possible.
This man must have taken some wrong medicine.
You Yue smiled, gentlemanly refraining from insisting, and carried her into the bathtub before coming out to tidy the room.
-
Cheng Hexi took a shower and went back to bed.
The tide of passion had receded, but traces of love still lingered on her body.
She was wrapped in a bathrobe, and even moving her legs made them ache; she was so tired that her mind went blank.
A moment later, the other side of the bed sank slightly, and You Yue's cheerful voice reached her ears.
"Have some water. Is your throat sore?"
Cheng Hexi shifted to a lying position and glanced at him expressionlessly upon hearing this. Her face was still slightly flushed from the bath, making her completely unappealing.
All day long, she was impeccably dressed, with her shirt buttoned all the way up. Now, lying on his bed, she was revealing her most hidden side to him.
You Yue's well-hidden desire for control was greatly satisfied.
His bathrobe was loosely draped, revealing his chest muscles. Cheng Hexi drank her water and then closed her eyes again, no longer looking at him.
Youyue was in a good mood, so she put the cup on the bedside table and went to tidy up the bathroom.
A short while later, he returned to the bedside.
It wasn't even Cheng Hexi's usual bedtime, but she was already drowsy.
You Yue reached out and dimmed the light to its lowest setting. Instead of getting into bed, he knelt on one knee beside the bed and took her left hand.
The bedroom was dimly lit, and the seven-figure mattress was diligently fulfilling its purpose.
The marks on her body couldn't fade away anytime soon, but they were completely covered by the silk nightgown.
Noticing his movement, Cheng Hexi slowly opened her eyes.
You Yue had just taken a shower, and a few strands of his black hair fell across his forehead, making his features appear even more striking and giving him an air of nonchalant elegance.
The safety amulet that had been resting on her chest was now dangling in front of him again.
His gaze was focused, his pupils reflecting the shadow of the person on the bed.
Suddenly, Cheng Hexi realized that a ring had been pushed into the ring finger of her left hand.
The full-diamond wedding ring sat securely on her finger, still dazzling in the dim light.
Cheng Hexi remembered that she had taken off her ring while taking a shower. She was tired and sleepy after You Yue carried her out of the bathroom, so she left it by the bathtub.
She had worn the ring for a long time, and the foreign feeling at the base of her finger had long since disappeared; it seemed to have become part of her flesh and blood.
She got used to it and didn't even realize it was missing.
Cheng Hexi opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but not knowing what to say.
You Yue stared intently at her and suddenly said, "On the day we got our marriage certificate, you put the ring on yourself, didn't you?"
He smiled and said, "I'll make it up today."
She could hear her own heartbeat, like a drumbeat pounding in her chest.
After putting the ring on her finger, You Yue lifted the covers and got into bed, his warm chest pressing against her back.
He kissed the back of the neck of the person in his arms and said, "Sleep."
They were so close that Cheng Hexi could hear his heartbeat.
They were all fully aware that they were consciously sinking into depravity.
You Yue has been well-fed and clothed since childhood, and in the past many years, he has had everything he could want.
Having grown up in this circle, surrounded by glitz and glamour and subtle flattery, he has managed to remain true to himself because he clearly knows what he is thinking and what he wants.
He disdained casual affairs and never even considered them.
He wanted Cheng Hexi, so he had enough patience to take things slowly.
When she was hospitalized, she was able to have her assistant call him immediately, which You Yue felt showed that she had made great progress.
-
Exhausted, Cheng Hexi woke up the next day with her alarm clock, but was still feeling tired.
Normally, You Yue would have gone for a run and exercise long ago without fail, but today was unusual; he was still lying in bed.
He wrapped his strong arms around her.
Cheng Hexi realized she had used his arm as a pillow. She tried to get up, but she was too weak from lying down for too long and almost fell back into his arms.
You Yue woke up when her alarm went off, but didn't open his eyes. He pulled her back into his arms and asked, "Want to sleep a little longer?"
Cheng Hexi couldn't believe that You Yue had said those words. She found it unusual, paused slightly, and asked him, "Are you sick?"
"……No."
With someone around, it's natural to want to stay in bed a little longer, especially since he had just flown back from Berlin and was still jet-lagged.
You Yue's restlessness in bed last night made Cheng Hexi forget that he had just returned from a business trip. Now that she remembered, she knew he was sleep-deprived, so she didn't rush to get up.
My body is also very sore, and I guess I'll be covered in marks again.
Long-term self-discipline has left You Yue with a strict biological clock. He was already awake and wouldn't go back to sleep, so he simply lay in bed with Cheng Hexi in his arms.
A little while later, Cheng Hexi took the initiative to tell him, "I'm going to have lunch with Yu'an at noon."
You Yue looked down at her: "She asked you out?"
Cheng Hexi said "yes", and said, "Yu'an knows about my hospitalization. She said she wanted to come see me, but you didn't let her."
You Yue's tone was unusually lazy as he hummed in agreement: "It was my fault for not allowing it."
“She comes to see you and they just keep talking, you can’t get a proper rest. I told her that if she wants to see you, a few more days won’t make a difference.”
Cheng Hexi gave a short laugh.
No wonder Chi Yu'an specifically instructed her not to let her cousin come; it turns out there was a prior grudge.
"How did Yu'an know I was hospitalized?" she wondered.
On the first afternoon of Mingming's hospitalization, Chi Yu'an called without knowing about it.
“Ying Zeqing said it, didn’t he?” You Yue wasn’t surprised. “You know they have a good relationship.”
Cheng Hexi smiled slightly as she thought about their relationship.
The morning light was blocked by the curtains, leaving the room quiet and peaceful. A moment later, she suddenly asked, "Have you and Yu'an known each other for a long time?"
You Yue: "We grew up together, but she is younger than all of us, so she is not as close to Jingyao and the others as she is."
"Does she also know about your school days?"
Cheng Hexi recalled the story Chi Yu'an had told her about You Yue crashing into a G-Wagon, and it felt very vivid.
You Yue chuckled and asked directly, "Are you starting to get curious about me?"
He moved closer to Cheng Hexi, his breath brushing against the back of her neck: "You can ask me anything you want to know, why ask others?"
Cheng Hexi almost trembled at his breath.
She herself didn't know why she had just said that.
There was no going back now, so she could only pretend it had never happened. She glanced back at him and immediately got out of bed to wash up.
You Yue was so enraged by her glare that he lay on the bed for a while before getting up.
-
After meeting with Chi Yu'an, Cheng Hexi returned home at 5 p.m. and immediately went to her study to hold an online meeting.
You Yue's usual cars were all in the garage, but she didn't see him, so she asked Aunt Yao. Aunt Yao said he was working upstairs.
Both study doors were closed. Cheng Hexi went into her own room without disturbing him.
This meeting was still about that merger; she was also flying to New York in a few days.
The atmosphere at noon was pleasant, and she ate heartily, not feeling hungry at all by evening. It wasn't until Aunt Yao came to call her downstairs for dinner that Cheng Hexi realized it was already dinner time. But she hadn't finished her work yet, so she said she wouldn't eat yet.
Twenty minutes later, You Yue came to knock on the door and brought out dinner himself.
She had just recovered from her stomach ailment, and the doctor specifically instructed her to eat on time.
It was almost eight o'clock when I finished work.
As Cheng Hexi crossed out a line from her to-do list, she felt relieved. She looked away from the screen and noticed that the dinner on the table had gone cold.
Thinking that You Yue and Aunt Yao had come to urge her twice, she couldn't help but feel guilty and embarrassed.
As she walked out of the study carrying her tray, she ran into You Yue, who was coming downstairs.
He was dressed in his pajamas, his gaze sweeping over the plates before finally settling on Cheng Hexi's face.
Cheng Hexi felt guilty, realizing that You Yue's usual gentlemanly yet somewhat lazy demeanor had vanished in front of her, replaced by an oppressive aura.
You Yue seemed unsurprised that she had forgotten to eat. He didn't say anything and took the plate from her.
The two walked downstairs side by side.
Aunt Yao has already finished get off work.
He went into the kitchen, put the plates in the dishwasher, turned around and saw Cheng Hexi leaning against the door. He asked, "Are you hungry?"
She answered honestly: "A little."
"I just cooked some porridge, would you like to have a bite?"
You Yue took out a new bowl.
I wanted to call the manager of Yunjian earlier to ask them to deliver the food, but I didn't know when she would finish work, so I decided to cook it myself.
She shouldn't eat too much at night anyway.
"You can actually cook?" Cheng Hexi walked into the kitchen, went to his side, and watched him ladle chicken porridge into a bowl.
You Yue can cook, and he will even cook for her.
She used a surprised tone to mask the turmoil in her heart.
You Yue didn't consider himself a good-for-nothing young master. It wasn't surprising that he could cook, especially since he didn't actually know much about it. He had just learned how to make this porridge.
He admitted frankly, "Not really."
Then I put the bowl on the table and asked her to taste it.
Cheng Hexi took a sip.
It tastes delicious and has a wonderful aroma.
You Yue twitched her lip, feeling that she sometimes really understood her.
He used to sometimes forget to eat when he was busy, and Cheng Hexi was the same way, otherwise her stomach wouldn't be in this state now.
But she doesn't seem to care about her health at all, having just been discharged from the hospital.
Just then, Cheng Hexi looked up and asked, "Aren't you going to eat?"
"I've already eaten," You Yue said, looking down at her.
He stood there for a while, but instead of staying with her at the restaurant like last time, he said he had work to do and went upstairs.
After the warm porridge entered her stomach, Cheng Hexi pondered for a moment, still feeling that You Yue's mood just now was a bit off.
It seemed like there was something to say, but the words were left unsaid.
Is he angry?
