Her pills
==================
Wu Jianwei sat on the bench downstairs in the community for nearly half an hour. Only after confirming that Meng Yanxiu had driven away did she slowly stand up, stop a car, and go straight to a cafe in the city center.
Song Yan arrived earlier than her. As soon as she entered the door, Song Yan stood up from the extremely private position in the corner and waved at her with a smile.
Wu Jianwei walked over and sat down on the soft chair opposite Song Yan. The semi-open space formed by the seat blocked out the noise from the outside world.
"Jianwei, it was such a coincidence last time at the hospital that I saw you being intimate with a male doctor. At the time, I was so busy trying to persuade Yanxiu not to take it personally that I didn't even have time to say hello to you." Song Yan finished speaking and without waiting for her response, she called over the waiter, "I want a Dirty. Jianwei, what would you like to drink?"
Kirimi raised her eyes slightly and whispered to the clerk, "Cold brew, thank you."
Song Yan put down the menu, and after the waiter left, she casually mentioned, "On the day of your wedding, my dad was in the hospital, so our whole family didn't go. You wouldn't mind, right?"
"Why should I mind?" Wu Jianwei smiled knowingly, "I didn't invite you, do you mind?"
Wu Jianwei had hoped to communicate peacefully with Song Yan, but her overbearing manner irritated her. Furthermore, she hadn't known Song Yan well. They'd first met at Meng Yanxiu's grandfather's birthday party, when they were strangers. Later, when she accompanied Meng Yanxiu back to the old house, they'd occasionally run into Song Yan, but their conversations were brief. Meng Yanxiu had always intentionally kept her from interacting with him.
When the conversation reached a deadlock, the waiter brought the coffee. Song Yan chuckled and took a sip, while thinking about what to say next.
"Jianwei, since you have this kind of personality, I will speak frankly."
"You go ahead." Wu Jianwei met her gaze, still polite.
"Auntie Lan told me that Yan Xiu didn't get married to you, and he won't in the future." Song Yan put down his coffee cup and spoke slowly, "Actually, I don't care at all that he had a wedding with you. He just deliberately made things like this to disobey his family because he and Auntie Lan had conflicts over the years. It's just a little trick, harmless."
Kirimi nodded calmly: "So? What do you want to talk to me about?"
"I can accept your existence." Song Yan wiped her mouth with a tissue, as if wiping away something unclean. "My family taught me to be tolerant of others."
"You accept me?" Wu Jianwei was shocked by this ridiculous word and looked at Song Yan in surprise. "In what capacity do you accept me?"
Song Yan's face was filled with an offended look. "Yan Xiu and I will definitely get married. This is a consensus reached long ago by our two families. Do you think he will give up his inheritance rights if he rebels against the family again?"
Song Yan paused, his eyes scanning Wu Jianwei's face with scrutiny, his tone contemptuous, "I still don't understand what Yan Xiu likes about you? Besides this face, what else do you have? But this is also good. You two are not equal on a psychological level. Your knowledge, family background, hobbies... everything is vastly different. Sooner or later, he will get tired of you, and I won't have to care about your existence anymore."
"You think I'm pretty too?" Wu Jianwei listened patiently to her nonsense, his face calm as he looked back at her calmly, "It seems that there's nothing wrong with your eyes. It's a pity that your brain isn't so good."
"You! Wu Jianwei!" Song Yan suppressed his voice, looked around, and squeezed out a word through his teeth, "Do you have any manners? The most important thing you should do now is to be grateful for my magnanimity and for tolerating you. As long as he keeps you away, doesn't have children with you, and doesn't cause a scandal, I can turn a blind eye."
Wu Jianwei chuckled softly: "You're still acting too hard. If you want to marry him, go find him and tell him all this. What are you talking about here with the theory of the first wife and the mistress? Do you want to marry me?"
"You..." The tissue was shredded into pieces in Song Yan's hand.
The waiter interrupted them and said, "Customer, we just launched the French brunch in our store. Do you want it?"
Song Yan suppressed his anger and glanced at the menu: "I didn't have breakfast, I want a French caramel raspberry toast."
The clerk asked Wu Jianwei again: "Do you need anything?"
"No need." Kirimi nodded slightly.
After the waiter left, Song Yan's face darkened: "Why, do you want me to think that you and Yan Xiu have eaten together?"
"No." Kirimi said in a light tone, "We didn't eat, we just kissed until we were full."
"Wu Jianwei, you're so vulgar!" Song Yan stared at her in surprise. "Did anyone in your family teach you to be shameless? Oh, I guess not. Your parents spend all day dealing in cheap flour, running a small business for five or ten yuan. I'm afraid they don't even have basic manners..."
"Song Yan, I'm giving you a lot of respect," Wu Jianwei interrupted rudely. "Put away your sense of superiority. What kind of plastic turtle did you grow up on? What right do you have to insult my parents? I'm telling you, I held back from slapping you right now because of my upbringing. Besides, who needs your tolerance? I'm a person who hates dirt the most. I can't tolerate even a grain of sand in my eyes, let alone you."
"You!" Song Yan's face turned pale with anger.
"Shut up and eat your toast." Wu Jianwei didn't give Song Yan any chance to breathe and continued, "I'm not the third party, don't give me that name. And you're still keeping her outside? Is this your family education? Your family only taught you feudal dregs? Did no one notify your family when the Qing Dynasty fell?"
Song Yan was caught off guard by her counterattack. He sneered and tried to take back the initiative: "You said so much, aren't you just trying to force him to marry you? Aren't you just after his money? What methods did you use to make him fall in love with you?"
"Who forced who to get married? I'm not like you. I won't die without a man." Wu Jianwei leaned back and shrugged. "I have to correct you on one point. I was attracted by his looks. Of course, I also like his money. As for what means I used, why don't you ask him? Isn't he willing to tell you?"
Wu Jianwei deliberately moved closer and said in a serious tone, "Then I'll tell you, I put a Gu on him. I went to Miaojiang to find the love Gu. Do you want me to introduce you to him?"
The air was as taut as a string.
At this moment, the waiter's voice suddenly interrupted: "Please serve the caramel toast to you two. The iron plate is very hot, please be careful not to touch it."
An iron plate with bubbling hot air was brought to the table. At the moment of moving the plate, the waiter accidentally knocked over Wu Jianwei's coffee cup, and the dark brown liquid almost spilled. Fortunately, she was quick to catch it.
The clerk just breathed a sigh of relief, but in a panic, he pressed the edge of the hot iron plate heavily against her hand before she could withdraw it.
"Hiss!" Wu Jianwei suddenly pulled his hand back, and felt a sharp pain at his fingertips.
"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!" the clerk apologized repeatedly, his tone panicking. "We have burn ointment. Please come with me. I'm so sorry!"
Wu Jian frowned slightly and nodded, then stood up and left with the clerk. As they passed by, the clerk gave Song Yan a subtle look.
Song Yan immediately leaned over, took the bag that Wu Jianwei left on the seat, took out the medicine box, poured all the pills inside into the trash can under the table, and covered it with a few napkins.
Then, Song Yan took out a medicine bottle from her bag and put the pills, which were almost identical in shape and color, into her medicine box. After completing all this, Song Yan quickly put the bag back in its place and continued to drink her coffee calmly.
After Kirimi Wei applied the burn ointment, the clerk apologized all the way, sent her back to her seat, and repeatedly stated that he would bear the subsequent medical expenses.
She looked at her wrapped fingers and sighed softly. She couldn't draw for a few days and could only recuperate at home. She didn't want to waste time with Song Yan anymore and just wanted to end this meaningless conversation.
Unexpectedly, Song Yan seemed to have suddenly lost interest, putting away all his sharpness, and said abnormally: "I won't delay your recovery."
This tense conversation ended abruptly.
On Monday morning,
Wu Jianwei was exhausted from insomnia for days, so she simply turned off her cell phone to completely block out any sounds that might disturb her.
However, he accidentally blocked Wu Zhang's call. Wu Zhang was worried and called Meng Yanxiu instead.
Meng Yanzheng was in a meeting in the conference room when his phone rang. He raised his hand to signal everyone to continue, then walked to the corridor and answered the phone: "Dad."
Wu Zhang's voice was filled with uneasiness: "Yan Xiu, Mi Wu's phone has been turned off. I haven't been able to contact her since last night. Is she okay?"
Meng Yanxiu glanced at the time: "She may still be resting. I will contact her right away. Is there anything else you want to tell her?"
"Oh, that's good..." Wu Zhang paused, his tone softening. "We made some new flavors of lotus cakes, thinking she'd like them, so we planned to send them to you, but we don't know your detailed address. Oh, and her mother is still waiting for your wedding photos; the kid always forgets to send them."
"Okay, don't send it yet. I'll contact you at noon. Also, I'll send the photos now." After a few more pleasantries, Meng Yanxiu hung up the phone and then called Wu Jianwei.
This time the call went through right away.
"Hmm?" Wu Jianwei's voice was lazy and vague. She had just turned on her phone when she received a call. "Isn't the dinner in the evening? Why are you rushing me so early?"
"Call your parents back," Meng Yanxiu said, his voice lowered. "They're worried about you."
"Ah... okay." Kirimi Wei suddenly came to her senses, hung up the phone quickly, and called Kirimi Zhang back.
Twenty minutes later, Meng Yanxiu finished the meeting, arranged his work, and went straight to the airport.
At seven o'clock in the evening, just as Kirimi Wei finished brushing the eyelashes of one eye, there was a knock on the door.
She opened the door holding her mascara and was very surprised: "Why are you up here?"
Meng Yanxiu stood outside the door, holding a shopping bag in his right hand and a box of fresh lotus cakes in his left hand: "I'll wait for you outside."
"...You can come in." Kirimi hesitated for a few seconds and then said, "But there are no slippers... You know, I threw away all your things."
"I know." Meng Yanxiu handed her the lotus pastry and then opened the bag in his hand. "I brought new slippers. But if you want to throw them away later, you can do so anytime."
Wu Jianwei stared at him for a moment, then took a step back to let him in. "Come in, why did you buy lotus cakes? My parents will send them to me."
"This was done by your parents." Meng Yanxiu brushed it off lightly and walked in sideways.
"You..." Wu Jianwei's almond-shaped eyes flashed with surprise, "Did you get it from Su Zhou?"
Meng Yanxiu didn't respond. His eyes fell on her hand covered in ointment, hidden behind the door. His entire body pressure suddenly dropped. "What's wrong with your hand?"
