Chapter 20: Finding the Child
In March in City M, the snow had just melted, the old trees had not yet sprouted new buds, and the scene was still desolate everywhere.
Cangshu Village, located in the northernmost part of M City, is the most remote and poorest village in the entire city. There is no main road leading into the town, only a mountain road that can only accommodate two people at the same time.
The snow had just melted and the paths were muddy, making it very difficult to enter the village. At this time, villagers would not go out unless there was something important.
On a clear day, it would take four or five hours to walk from the town to the village, and in this kind of weather, it would take even longer.
He Ji arrived in town at nine in the morning, and by the time he appeared in Xiaocangshu Village, the sun had already set behind the mountain top.
He did not enter the village, but went around it from the small path next to it. On the hillside on the left side of the valley, there were several schools built of earthen bricks, which was his destination.
After climbing up the hillside, a large flat area of several hundred square meters appeared before his eyes. The dilapidated earthen house had its door closed and was quiet. Only a wisp of green smoke floating into the sky showed that someone lived inside.
He Ji couldn't suppress his anger when he thought that the child had run to such a desolate and barren place to avoid him.
He is not a monster, so what's wrong with following him?
He leaned against the roots of a big tree at the edge of the flat ground, lit a cigarette, and his eyes were fixed on the door of the room from which the smoke was wafting.
He was thinking about whether to beat up the timid yet bold child when the door opened or to hold her and comfort her first.
Before I could decide whether to coax or beat him, the rickety door creaked and was opened from the inside.
Su Yan poured out the water in the basin and turned around, her eyes swept across the roots of the tree. She was about to close the door when she reacted. She stopped closing the door and looked up.
About ten or twenty meters away from her, a dusty man was biting on a cigarette, with an unreadable emotion on his face. When he saw that she saw him, he raised his foot and slowly approached.
His muddy military boots stepped on the mud step by step. His almost silent footsteps seemed to be stepping on her fragile heart, shaking her whole body.
He seems to have lost weight after not seeing him for seven months.
After He Ji approached, he looked her up and down twice, threw the cigarette in his mouth to the ground, stepped on it into the mud with his foot, and sneered, "You are quite capable kid. You ran out for so long and didn't even know to go home."
It was really hard for her to find such a place. If it weren't for that kid Lin Er, he wouldn't have known about this place.
For someone who usually loves cleanliness so much, it's amazing that she could endure living in this dark house for seven months.
"How did you find this place?"
There was still a cold wind blowing outside. Su Yan had been standing there for less than two minutes when her face turned red. She clenched the basin in her hand and stepped aside. "It's cold outside. Come in and warm yourself by the fire!"
He Ji did not answer her question, and closed the door after entering.
In the small, shabby house of more than ten square meters, a brick bed took up half of the space, and the remaining space was occupied by a small table and a small stove. Apart from the luggage bag in the corner, there was nothing else.
The room was obviously cleaned carefully. It was old, but not dirty.
There was only one stool in the room, and He Ji was sitting on it. Su Yan hesitated for a moment, put the basin on the corner of the kang, and sat down beside it.
When He Ji looked over, she lowered her head and looked submissive, as well-behaved as a newly married young wife.
Although she looks cute and well-behaved, He Ji knows that underneath this child's delicate and well-behaved appearance, there is a very strong heart.
He poured himself a glass of water and the slight sound of putting the cup down made the child shudder.
He Ji narrowed his eyes and thought to himself, if he was so cowardly, why did he run away so decisively at that time?
They sat there for a few minutes, neither of them speaking, and a depressing atmosphere permeated the shabby little house.
He Ji took out a cigarette and lit it. Halfway through, he heard a suppressed cough. He narrowed his eyes and stood up.
A figure covered her entire body. Su Yan looked up, but before she could see the other person's face clearly, a puff of smoke was blown onto her face.
She was caught off guard and took a deep breath, the white smoke being sucked into her nose, choking her and making her cover her neck and cough.
He Ji leaned over, and the scent of the opposite sex instantly enveloped her. Her chin was clamped, and a puff of cigarette was passed mouth to mouth.
The girl, who had never been exposed to cigarettes, was forced to drink such a strong gulp of smoke that she wanted to cough but couldn't, and tears of discomfort overflowed from the corners of her eyes.
She struggled a few times but couldn't break free. Her oxygen was exhausted, so she could only let her body go limp and let him hold her around the waist.
He Ji waited until the child's breath was almost weak before letting go of her hand. He stood by the kang and looked down at her who was lying limp on the kang.
After regaining some strength, Su Yan immediately shrank back, grabbed the pillow next to her and hugged it to her chest, with a defensive look on her face.
He Ji originally wanted to let it go, but seeing the child's defensive look, he started to feel itchy.
He pulled her over, turned her over and made her lie on the kang, then his big palm like a palm-leaf fan came down on her.
The pain from her buttocks made Su Yan stunned for several seconds. After the other party stopped, she was angry and annoyed, and her body couldn't help shaking.
She felt wronged and couldn't control her tears, which fell like beads from a broken string.
The little girl was introverted and usually didn't like to talk. Now she didn't make any sound when she cried, but just lowered her head and pursed her lips, looking particularly pitiful.
He Ji stood there and watched for a while, licked his teeth, smiled and pinched her face, "I haven't done anything yet, but you're the first to feel wronged."
Su Yan stopped crying, looked up at him, lowered her head, and her tears flowed even more happily.
He not only raped his relatives but also beat people, and yet he said that nothing happened. If there really was something wrong, wouldn't he have killed someone?
Her resentful look amused He Ji. The child's appearance was really charming.
He sat on the kang, patted his knees, reached out and lifted the child, who was still wiping his tears, onto his knees.
Su Yan's tears were still flowing, but his action scared her to stop. The crystal tears hung on her fair face, and she refused to let them fall.
He Ji wiped the tears from her face with his rough palm and threatened in a deep voice, "If you cry again, I will have your wedding night tonight."
Su Yan: ...
She tried to hold it back, but couldn't help it. She opened her mouth and hiccuped. After she stopped, she took a breath with accusation in her eyes.
He Ji covered her eyes and gently scratched her waist with his other hand, causing the child in his arms to tremble. He smiled and asked, "Did you miss me?"
"You little heartless bastard, you definitely didn't think about it. Even though you didn't want to, I missed you so much that I woke up twice every night..."
It was the first time that Su Yan heard such disgusting words. She was so embarrassed that her ears turned red. She couldn't escape and was forced to shrink in his arms, not daring to move even a finger.
