Chapter 3: He Looks Like More Than Thirty-Two

Chapter 3: He Looks Like More Than Thirty-Two

His forehead was covered in sweat and his clothes were soaked. He stood at the door, looking like he was about to go in.

Su Yan hesitated for a few seconds, but finally stepped aside.

If the other party really wanted to come in, her small body and the thin door would not be able to stop him.

He Ji put the watermelon on the table, went into the kitchen to get a knife in a very familiar manner, and cut half of the watermelon into slices.

"Eat, I have something else to do, so I'm leaving first!"

He came and went in the house as freely as the owner.

After the people left, Su Yan looked at the watermelon cut into pieces on the table and was unable to come back to her senses for a long time.

What does this mean?

The sun was so hot outside, and he ran back in the middle of the day just to give me a melon?

Thinking of the half watermelon in the refrigerator, Su Yan got a headache.

She can eat half a watermelon in the refrigerator for two days. If I get another one now, she won’t be able to finish it even if it gets rotten.

If she had known someone would give it to her, she would not have bought the watermelon. She saved more than ten yuan, which was enough for her food expenses for the day.

After delivering the watermelons, He Ji returned to the construction site. He had many people under him and had contracted several plots of land scattered throughout the city, so he often had to run around.

There was a problem with the crane at the construction site I visited today. A few days ago, a worker was hung on it and couldn't get down.

He spent several days trying to fix it but still couldn't fix it, which delayed the progress a lot.

Fortunately, the people here were able to be transferred to other places to help, otherwise they would have been starving this month due to the suspension of work for so many days.

Seeing him come back, Lin Er, who was resting, called out, "Brother He, where is the melon you just bought?"

"It's so big, if you don't eat it here, you might give it to your lover, right?"

"It would take a lot of lovers to eat such a big watermelon. If you ask me, you should just give us half of it."

Before He Ji could answer, Chen Jun beside him sneered, "Come on, our Brother He doesn't have any old lover!"

"His standards are getting higher and higher. Last time, he rejected a beautiful woman who was attracted to him, and his words were so sharp that they made her cry."

"Tsk tsk, this is too heartless!" Lin Er shook his head and patted Chen Jun's arm with a smile.

"Next time, introduce a mature woman to He Ge. Don't let him break up every ten days or half a month. If this happens a few more times, the matchmaker will not let me in."

Chen Jun rolled his eyes at him and said, "Don't worry, ever since that woman made such a scene last time, Hongniang has stopped introducing anyone to He Ge."

When Lin Er heard this, he tutted his tongue twice, "You're right, our Brother He doesn't know how to be gentle with women. Which woman can stand him?"

The two of them didn't know how to restrain themselves in front of the parties involved. They said whatever they wanted to say, and kept making dirty remarks.

This kind of talk can be heard every day on the construction site, and He Ji's ears are almost callused from hearing it.

He didn't take this to heart, but lowered his head to check the tools, thinking about repairing the crane as soon as possible.

Looking at his bulging muscles, Lin Er pinched his arm and sighed, "If I were younger, I would have wanted to be Brother He's wife. Brother He's body is so attractive."

Chen Jun kicked him and sneered mercilessly, "Forget it, with your small body, can you survive Brother He's hands for once?"

Lin Er: ...

"You really underestimate me. Do you believe I can knock you down with just one punch?"

Chen Jun snorted, "Forget it, I'm afraid you'll cheat me out of my medical expenses!"

Lin Er glared at him, took off his vest and was about to pounce on him to fight.

"Stop messing around, it's time to go upstairs!"

He Ji stopped their fighting, locked the toolbox, and went out first with the things.

Lin Er quickly grabbed his clothes and followed him, shouting, "Brother He, let's go out and have some fun tonight. It's been days since we had a drink together."

"I got drunk by those guys from the south of the city a couple of days ago, and I'm counting on you to help me get back at them."

He Ji gritted his teeth and sneered, "Get lost!"

He is so busy that he has no time to drink. If he has that time, he might as well go back and play with the kids.

Looking at his back, Lin Er and Chen Jun whispered, "There must be something wrong with Brother He. He used to drink all day, but now he doesn't even mention it."

It's fine if he doesn't take the initiative to go, but he can't even go if you ask him to. There must be something fishy going on.

Chen Jun slapped him on the back of the head and glared at him, "Why do you care so much? What does it have to do with you? Just do your work!"

Don’t you even look at who the person you are gossiping about? Is Brother He the person they are talking about?

If they make him angry, both of them will be in trouble.

Touching the place where he was hit, Lin Er grinned, "Then I just said it casually!"

He just wanted to satisfy his desire to talk, but he didn't dare to do anything else.

He has little education, and it is not easy for him to find a high-paying job in a big city. He can't afford to lose everything.

Seeing that he knew his limits, Chen Jun said nothing more and quickened his pace to catch up.

Lin Er, who fell behind, muttered a few words and quickly caught up.

That night, when He Ji returned home and took out his key to open the door, the door of the opposite room was suddenly opened.

Su Yan stood at the door, holding half a watermelon in her arms, looking at him with pursed lips.

"Is the watermelon not tasty?"

He Ji frowned. Half a day had passed, why hadn't he finished eating the watermelon yet?

He usually hangs out with a bunch of rough guys. They work hard and sweat a lot in this kind of weather, so they need to drink a lot of water.

So they can finish such a big watermelon one by one.

Although she couldn't finish a whole watermelon in one go, she should have finished it by the end of the day.

Su Yan shook her head. "It's too big. I can't finish it. It will go bad if I keep it!"

He Ji looked her up and down, gritting his teeth.

No wonder it's so small. Its appetite is like a bird's. It would be strange if it could grow taller.

"I'm too dirty, please help me get it in!"

Being dirty was just an excuse. In fact, he just didn't want the other party to go back so soon.

I haven't seen you for a long time, and I feel like you've become prettier again. You look so tender and chubby, and your skin is as good as that of a baby a few months old.

"I'm going to take a shower, go to the kitchen and help me cut the watermelon!"

He gave orders naturally, not treating Su Yan as an outsider at all, nor did he think there was anything wrong with it.

He went into the bathroom shirtless, leaving Su Yan standing in the living room, not knowing whether to put down the watermelon and leave, or to listen to him and cut the watermelon.

After hesitating for two minutes, listening to the sound of water splashing in the bathroom, she finally went into the kitchen.

For the sake of the air conditioner, I'd better help cut it. It's not a big deal anyway.

He Ji moved very quickly. When he came out, Su Yan had just peeled the watermelon and hadn't started cutting it yet.

He had no intention of driving out to help, so he leaned against the kitchen door, a cigarette between his teeth, looking lazy, with a hint of unruly between his eyebrows.

"Kid, how old are you? Your face is so tender, are you still underage?"

Su Yan shook her head, not caring that he called her tender, and moved her hands gently and slowly.

"Twenty-two!"

He Ji sighed. He was already twenty-two, but Zhenyi couldn't tell. His skin was so tender that it seemed like water could be squeezed out of it.

"How old are you?"

The atmosphere between the two was too depressing, and he kept staring at her. Su Yan couldn't stand it anymore, so she spoke to break the brief silence.

"Ten years older than you."

After hearing this, Su Yan stopped cutting the watermelon for a moment, looked up at him, then quickly lowered her head, pursing her red lips.

He looked more than thirty-two.

He Ji understood her look and laughed out of anger. He walked forward and pinched her chin to force her to look up.

"Tell me, how old do I look?"

Their posture was too ambiguous and they were so close that the scent of his body rushed into her nose.

He had just taken a shower, so he didn't smell bad, but it was just like him, giving people a domineering feeling.
