Chapter 5: Living like an old lady

Chapter 5: Living like an old lady

Just take a bath, it’s not that troublesome, but why is this kid so nervous?

Look at the sweat on my head, it's like I just got caught in the rain.

"It all needs to be washed anyway, so I'll clean it up first and then wash it."

After he finished speaking, he was about to open the refrigerator again. Su Yan didn't know what to say, her heart in her throat.

He Ji saw her clenched hands out of the corner of his eye, thought for a moment, and stopped.

"I'm all sticky, I better go back and take a shower. You don't have to touch these things, I'll come over and clean them up later."

After saying this, he could clearly see Su Yan heaving a sigh of relief.

Seeing her look like she had escaped death, He Ji almost couldn't help laughing.

He had completely forgotten what had just happened, but she remembered it clearly because she was afraid of embarrassment.

It’s just that the refrigerator is empty, it’s not a big deal. Can he beat her up for it?

After watching him leave, Su Yan hurried into the kitchen, put everything in place, and then started cooking lunch.

It was a little late for dinner and she was hungry, so she didn't plan to cook anything too complicated and just stir-fried two dishes.

As for whether He Ji would have any objections, that was not within her consideration.

Just as the rice was cooked, He Ji came back all wet, with unwiped water dripping from his chin onto his chest.

He was holding a vest in his hand and leaning against the kitchen door with a lazy look on his face, like a lion basking in the sun after a full meal.

Su Yan saw him shirtless out of the corner of her eye and was too embarrassed to look up. She turned her back to him and her eyes fell on the washed dishes.

"Little boy, can you sew? My vest is unstitched. Can you help me sew it?"

He was blocking the door like a mountain. Although his tone was questioning, he had already handed the clothes to me.

In this situation, even though Su Yan was unwilling, she had no choice but to find needle and thread.

She was really afraid that if she didn't go, she would get beaten the next second.

I don't have a strong enough heart to accept a shirtless man swaying around in front of me.

She lowered her head and went out. When she took the clothes, she accidentally touched his hand. Her fingers seemed to be burned, so she quickly retracted her hand.

He Ji rubbed his thumb and index finger together and laughed softly, "Coward, I don't eat humans, there's no need to be so scared."

"Well—at least I don't eat it now."

After hearing his first sentence, Su Yan's heart, which had been hanging in the air, was about to fall, but his next sentence frightened her again.

Although she knew that what he said was not true, she couldn't help but let her imagination run wild after watching too many TV dramas.

"Bang!"

The room was closed quickly. He Ji was stunned for a moment, gritted his teeth, and sneered. The kid ran quite fast.

Just two sentences could scare her away. Seeing that his brutality has escalated again, if he continues like this, I'm afraid that every child he meets when he goes out will be scared to tears.

With a sigh, he went into the kitchen, looked at what Su Yan had prepared, and took out another portion of beef and ribs.

The little food she prepared wasn't even enough to feed the cat.

Su Yan hid in the room and sewed her clothes, but did not go out immediately. Instead, she leaned against the door and listened to the noise outside.

There was no sound in the living room, and the other party seemed to have left.

Sitting back on the bed, she looked down at the clothes in her hands, not sure what to do.

She had no opinion of her own since she was young, and always did whatever her parents told her. After her parents died, she was like a computer without a system, and she was completely confused.

The owner of this dress, with a tyranny she had never seen before, broke into her world like a thunderclap.

She wanted to refuse but couldn't open her mouth, and she wanted to drive him away but didn't have the courage. She could only let him wrap around her inch by inch like a blood-sucking vine.

She sat in the room for a long time until He Ji knocked on the door and she woke up from her dream.

As soon as she opened the door, she smelled the rich aroma of food. Su Yan's eyes lit up and she became much more energetic.

Although she can cook, she always cooks perfunctorily because she eats alone. The last time she had such delicious food was almost half a year ago.

He Ji took her wrinkled vest, put it on, and pushed her towards the dining table.

"What are you staring at? Go eat."

Su Yan walked over and saw two sets of bowls and chopsticks on the table. Her heart felt swollen, filled with something unknown.

It is hard for people who have been hungry for a long time not to be moved when they see delicious food.

Seeing that she didn't move, He Ji pressed her shoulders to make her sit down, reached out and picked up the chopsticks and put them in her hand.

"Try and see if it suits your taste."

Knowing that Su Yan would feel embarrassed, He Ji didn't look at her again after he finished speaking. He sat down on the other side and ate his meal.

His attitude of not paying too much attention did make Su Yan relax a lot.

She picked up a piece of beef, and when she bit it, the aroma of the sauce burst in her mouth, making her taste buds jump.

The food was delicious. Su Yan, who had been hungry for a long time, had a big appetite. She ate two bowls in a row before reluctantly putting down her bowl and chopsticks.

She was so full that she couldn't even drink water, and she had to hold on to the table to get up.

"I'll clean up the dishes later."

He Ji was already full by the time she had served the second bowl of rice. He was now leaning back on the sofa, fiddling with his phone leisurely.

He saw her put down her chopsticks out of the corner of his eye, turned his head and waved at her.

Su Yan didn't know what he was going to do. She tilted her head, blinked, and took small steps over.

He Ji was so adorable by her little gesture that his bony fingers moved, and the urge to pinch her pink cheeks became stronger and stronger.

His masseter muscles moved again and again, and when he met Su Yan's puzzled eyes, he finally suppressed the thought.

He handed over the phone, "Add all the contact information."

When he hadn't seen her a few days ago, he thought about calling her. There was a phone number on the rental contract, but when he called it, it was an unavailable number.

I don’t know when the contract was printed, and I didn’t even know to change it when the number changed.

Su Yan didn't hesitate, took the phone, pressed a few buttons, and then handed it back.

He Ji took a quick glance and noticed that she had only written her cell phone number. He raised his eyebrows and said in a deep voice, "Is that all?"

How many people are calling her now? She is a young girl, doesn’t she even have a WeChat account?

"That's all." Su Yan nodded.

After graduating from high school, she cancelled her WeChat account and has not registered a new one yet.

She had no one she needed to contact, and nothing to talk about with others, so she was naturally too lazy to do it.

He Ji was obviously not satisfied with just making a phone call. He reached out and asked Su Yan to take out her cell phone.

She didn't know where she had thrown her cell phone. Su Yan went into the room and searched for it for two minutes, then came out empty-handed.

"Nothing—"

He Ji raised his eyebrows and dialed the number. After a few seconds, a pleasant ringtone came from under the sofa.

He looked under the sofa, didn't see the phone, and then pulled the sofa cushions aside.

The palm-sized pink cell phone fell into the crack of the sofa and was now flashing because of an incoming call.

The phone had obviously been dropped here for some time, and she hadn't thought of looking for it.

She doesn't play with her cell phone and stays in a room of dozens of square meters every day. At such a youthful age, she has lived like an old lady.
