Chapter 4: Who do you look down on?
Su Yan's face turned red instantly, and the hand pinching her chin was burning hot. The temperature was like a heat wave, giving her the illusion of being burned.
She turned her face away and said slowly: "The watermelon has been cut, you can eat it slowly!"
Her face was almost redder than a freshly cut watermelon. He Ji licked his lips and suddenly felt that eating the watermelon would not quench his thirst.
Why eat watermelon? Wouldn’t it be sweeter if you eat this child?
His eyes dimmed as he pondered the feasibility of this idea.
His body temperature was higher than that of an ordinary person. Standing too close to him, Su Yan felt like she was about to sweat.
My heart started beating rapidly, and the temperature in the room seemed to be rising continuously. Even the air conditioner couldn't blow away the heat on my body.
"It's already late, I'm going back first!"
After Su Yan finished speaking, she walked around him and went out. Her steps were messy, and she looked like she was running away.
He Ji leaned against the table and lit a cigarette. A chuckle came out from the smoke, which was especially noticeable in the quiet and empty room.
It’s fun to go home and play with the kids every day.
The next day, Su Yan had finished the noodles. She had eaten watermelon in the morning to keep herself full, but by noon she could no longer hold on.
After taking the money, she happened to meet He Ji who had returned when she went out. She hesitated for a moment, did not say hello, and walked down the stairs quickly, sticking to the wall.
He Ji raised his eyebrows, thinking that he hadn't done anything excessive, so why did she look like a mouse seeing a cat?
Looking out from the window at the stairs, he saw her putting on a mask. He Ji looked up at the fiery red sun hanging above his head.
Wearing a mask in such hot weather, aren't you afraid of suffocating yourself?
He Ji didn’t even have time to eat the lunch he packed. He just threw it on the table, grabbed the car keys and chased after him.
Su Yan hadn't walked far when she heard the sound of explosions on the street. The speed was so fast that she didn't even have time to frown before the motorcycle stopped steadily in front of her.
Looking at the person driving the car, she thought that sooner or later this person would be beaten up by his neighbors.
I don't know what's the point of modifying this car. It only disturbs people.
Won't this car be caught by the traffic police when it's running on the road?
Standing under such a scorching sun, he could still be distracted. He Ji lost his temper and shouted, "Where do you want to go? I'll take you!"
He patted the back seat and motioned Su Yan to sit in.
The motorcycle was very high, reaching her waist, and it was difficult for Su Yan to even climb up.
Thinking of its loud voice, Su Yan took two steps back, rejecting it with all her heart.
"No need, it's very close!"
"Where are you going?"
"supermarket."
He Ji: ...
Looking at the small supermarket less than 200 meters away from them, He Ji gritted his teeth, parked the car aside and got out.
"Come on, I'll help you carry your things."
Su Yan, who only had 100 yuan in her pocket, said: "...No need..."
It's just a hundred dollars, you can't buy much, so I don't need your help.
He Ji acted as if he didn't hear what she said. He pulled out the key, turned it around in his hand twice, and raised his chin towards her.
It seemed that he was determined to go with her. Su Yan didn't say anything else. She bit her lower lip and walked forward quickly.
After entering the supermarket, He Ji pushed the cart in front, followed by Su Yan, who looked like a young wife.
Seeing him walk to the raw meat area and throw two one-pound boxes of beef into the car, Su Yan clenched the money in her pocket.
If she had known this would happen, she would never have let him follow her. The money in her pocket was not enough to buy these two boxes of beef.
In order to avoid making a fool of herself when paying later, she decided it would be better to tell the truth.
He Ji took a fancy to another piece of fresh pork ribs and was about to take it when someone pulled his clothes.
He looked sideways and saw the child behind him with a wrinkled face. He held a hundred yuan in his other hand and handed it to him hesitantly.
"I only brought a hundred yuan with me, so I can't buy that much."
He Ji clicked his tongue, turned his hand around, and gently poked her between the eyebrows.
Seeing that she was forced to take two steps back because of his actions, he laughed: "Who are you looking down on? Do I need you to spend money when I'm here?"
He's a grown man, and he still asks women to pay when he goes to the supermarket?
Although his tone was not very good, his force was light. Although he was forced to take two steps back, he did not feel any pain on his forehead.
After hearing his words, Su Yan was stunned for a moment and silently withdrew her hand.
She should go to the vegetable market in the afternoon to buy it.
He Ji had no idea and didn't look at the prices on the shelves. He just threw double the amount of something he liked into the cart.
After shopping in the supermarket for less than half an hour, he had already filled up his cart. When checking out, he did not forget to complain to the staff that the cart was too small.
Looking at the four plastic bags filled with things, Su Yan felt that it was not that the cart was not big enough, but that his heart was too big.
She spent more than a thousand yuan on these things, which was enough to cover her monthly grocery expenses.
Seeing him carrying two plastic bags in one hand so easily, Su Yan looked down at her arms, wondering if she had eaten too little.
If I had eaten more, maybe I wouldn't have not gained a pound of weight in two years.
After going up to the third floor, He Ji waited at Su Yan's door very naturally, raised his chin, and signaled her to open the door quickly.
He acted as if he was going to put the thing in his hand back at home, which frightened Su Yan so much that she waved her hands away.
There are so many things, and not all of them are dishes. If she really opens the store, she will really lose money if she spends a month's money but can't eat enough for a month.
The most important thing is that she hasn’t even warmed up to the rent she just received and doesn’t want to spend it so quickly.
"Well, you should take everything to your side. My refrigerator doesn't have enough space."
He Ji had seen all kinds of people, and he saw through her little thoughts at a glance.
It's just that she feels embarrassed to accept these things, but he still refuses to let her have her wish.
He had to put these things in her refrigerator today no matter what.
"Open the door. If you really can't put it in, put it on my side."
"Don't dawdle. It's already this late. Aren't you hungry?"
Speaking of being hungry, Su Yan remembered that when he came back, he was holding a takeaway in his hand.
But now he seemed to have forgotten and didn't show any intention of going back to eat.
Su Yan looked up at him quietly, but she was caught red-handed. He stared at her straightly, and her face turned red.
This time, Su Yan was speechless. She took the key to open the door and let He Ji walk in like a master.
She didn't turn off the air conditioner when she went out. When she came in and was blown by the cold air, she couldn't help sneezing a few times.
He Ji put his things down and turned up the air conditioner temperature a few degrees. "Next time you go out, remember to turn up the temperature a little. It's easy to catch a cold if it's too hot and too cold."
Su Yan responded obediently, went to get a towel to wipe her face, and came out of the bathroom. When she saw He Ji carrying the things into the kitchen, her heart jumped.
The refrigerator was empty. If he opened it, wouldn't what he just said be exposed?
If he found out that I was lying to her, would he get angry?
Seeing that he had already reached out to the refrigerator, Su Yan subconsciously shouted, "Wait!"
He Ji stopped and looked at her.
"Let me clean up. You're sweating all over. You should go back and wash up first."
He Ji didn't do any work today, so there was no dust on his body. The sweat he sweated out was just from coming back from under the scorching sun, so there was no smell at all.
Under normal circumstances, he would definitely not go back to change clothes, but now in the child's fragrant house, his originally determined heart was shaken.
