Chapter 36: An ugly daughter-in-law must always meet her parents-in-law
Su Yan nodded and replied that she understood. Then she saw the other party scratching his head, chuckling twice, and then running away.
Su Yan touched her face and thought that she was the one who ran away first before, but now there was someone who was more embarrassed than her.
She turned around and closed the door. Less than two minutes after she sat down, the cell phone in her hand rang.
It was an unmarked number, and she didn't know whether to answer it. While she was hesitating, the ringing stopped.
This time, she didn't have to make a choice. Su Yan breathed a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to lean against the headboard to rest for a while, her cell phone rang again.
She picked it up and saw that it was the same number. The vibrating phone was in her hand, and the shrill ringtone urged her to answer it quickly.
Su Yan pursed her lips, walked out the door with her cell phone, and went back to look for He Ji.
The ringing stopped, and then rang again within two seconds. She took a deep breath and pressed the answer button with slightly trembling hands.
"Hey, what took you so long to answer the phone? It's been so long, and you didn't even bother calling home. You were still hesitant when I called, as if answering my call would kill you."
"Have you thought about what I told you last time? I'm telling you, that girl is really good. If you don't come back, she'll be married off to someone else."
"I know you don't like to hear this, but I have no choice. You are already in your thirties, your brother is two years younger than you, and you have two children, but you still haven't made any progress."
"You should have a few children while I still have some strength. That way I can still help you. Otherwise, in a few years, I won't even be able to take care of myself, so how can I help them?"
"Hey, hey, I've said so much, are you listening? I'm telling you, you can't pretend that you have no signal and can't hear what I'm saying."
Not getting a response, the other party became anxious and even spoke faster.
Su Yan saw He Ji from afar, waved at him, and pointed at her cell phone.
He Ji was covered in engine oil. He leaned against the machine and squinted at the child running towards him.
"Don't run so fast. There are a lot of nails on the ground."
He Ji spoke casually only when Su Yan was only a few meters away from him, obviously not realizing how serious it was to step on a nail.
Su Yan didn't say anything and held the phone in front of him.
The person on the other end was shouting, and the sound coming through the phone was not drowned out by the roar of the machine.
"Are you even listening? I'm almost hoarse from talking."
He Ji did not take the phone. He lowered his head and approached Su Yan's hand, talking, but his eyes were always fixed on Su Yan.
"Mom, your daughter-in-law is timid. You will scare her if you speak so loudly."
"Bah, I don't care who's a coward. If you don't come back for a blind date, I'll kill you. What did you just say? Wife? Did I hear you right?"
"With a guy like you who's this big and always looks like you're going to collect a debt, you think you can find a wife on your own? You're kidding me."
He Ji looked at the child whose face had already turned red, gritted his teeth, and said with a click of his tongue, "Mom, if you talk like that, it will easily cause family conflicts."
"She's right next to me now. I'll have to coax her for days with what you said."
There was silence on the other side for a long time. Finally, he cleared his throat and asked quietly, "Are you serious?"
He Ji didn't respond, but leaned forward a little, pressed his hot lips against Su Yan's hand, bit her sleeve with his teeth and pulled it up, then gently bit her fair and soft wrist.
It was not until Su Yan could no longer hold on to her hand and silently withdrew it and switched to pick up her phone that he smiled hoarsely.
He looked up at Su Yan and raised his eyebrows, "Come, say hello to your future mother-in-law."
The whispering over there stopped, and Su Yan looked at He Ji and shook her head in panic.
Listening to the two of them talking, she wanted to find a hole to bury herself in. Now that she was talking, she wished she could disappear right there.
"What are you afraid of? An ugly daughter-in-law has to meet her parents-in-law. I'm just saying hello. I can't eat you."
The person over there was still waiting, and he kept urging her. Su Yan was so anxious that she was almost spinning in circles. In the end, she had no choice but to squeeze out a "hello".
Seeing her nervous and flustered look, He Ji couldn't help laughing and leaned over to kiss her on the face.
"Kid, why are you so cute? You're so cute that I want to eat you up in one bite."
He's mother didn't hear what Su Yan said, but she heard her son's doting words, which made her so disgusted that she got goose bumps.
She rubbed her hands and was about to speak when she remembered what He Ji had said. So she lowered her throat and spoke in what she thought was the gentlest voice.
"Since you have a girlfriend, treat her well. When you are free, bring her home for dinner."
After saying that, she thought of the blind date again. She rubbed her face, cursed him inwardly as a bad boy, and then began to explain in a pinched throat.
As soon as she said that, she might say that her phone was out of battery again. He Ji was very straightforward. He said he would call her when he had time and then hung up the phone.
Standing up, he leaned against the machine again, staring at Su Yan with a half-smile, until her little face turned red, as if blood would drip if touched lightly.
"Kid, did you hear what your mother-in-law said? When are we going back for dinner?"
Su Yan was already extremely embarrassed, and being teased by him again, she bit her lower lip, threw the phone into his arms, turned around and ran back.
He Ji picked up the phone, looked at the black oil on his body, and finally didn't chase after him.
The child loves cleanliness, so I can't hold her even if I catch her. Instead of holding it in, I might as well fix the machine, wash her clean, and then hold her as much as she wants.
Su Yan entered the room, closed the door and leaned against it to catch her breath. The words just now kept ringing in her ears and her heart was still beating non-stop.
Her trembling legs could no longer support her, so she slowly squatted down, looking down at her pink palms, unable to describe her current mood.
There seemed to be tension, panic, a hint of joy, and more of an indescribable emotion.
She squatted on the ground for a long time, until she heard a knock on the door and realized that her legs were numb from squatting.
She stood up by holding onto the door panel, and listened to the knock on the door again. She licked her dry lips and asked, "Who?"
"It's me."
He Cong was holding two lunch boxes in his hands, listening to the noise inside.
There were no footsteps, but the sound came from behind the door, so I knew she had been hiding in the doorway.
Su Yan slowly opened the door, and He Ji couldn't wait and squeezed in through the crack in the door.
"It's time to eat. Do you want to wash your hands?"
He Ji took a shower and threw his dirty clothes outside. He was only wearing a pair of boxer briefs. His tanned chest was bulging with muscles, looking wild and sexy.
Su Yan didn't dare to look any longer, lowered her head and hummed.
He Ji took the basin out, got some hot water, poured some more hot water into it, tested the temperature himself first, and then waved for her to come over.
