Chapter 223 Inquiry

Lu Jingxuan stared intently at her, and Li Xi lowered her head uncomfortably. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You're beautiful." His deep voice was magnetic, gentle, and affectionate.

"You're such a chatterbox." Li Xi glanced at him.

The allure in her eyes and brows made Lu Jingxuan stare in disbelief.

Seeing that it was getting late, Li Xi had to hurry back and declined Lu Jingxuan's offer to take her home.

I boarded the bus and headed home with a jumbled mess of thoughts in my mind.

When I got to the door, I took a deep breath and opened it.

There was no one in the living room, but a faint aroma wafted from the kitchen, and she hesitated for a moment.

Fu Tingshen came out carrying a plate. She was still standing at the door. He raised his voice and asked, "Why are you standing at the door?"

Li Xi seemed to wake from a dream, brushing a stray hair behind her ear, "Oh, I was lost in thought."

"Go wash your hands, I'll get the rice."

The apron straps were tied behind his back, with a slightly imperfect bow hanging there, giving him the image of a good family husband.

Li Xi stumbled into the bathroom. The woman in the mirror had a dazed look in her eyes and a bewildered expression, which slowly turned into a determined one.

When she arrived at the restaurant again, Fu Tingshen had already taken off his apron and was standing by the table, as if waiting for her.

His slightly curved lips made him appear exceptionally gentle, and his affectionate gaze was captivating.

He pulled out a chair for her to sit down, and then sat down next to her.

The food in front of her looked and smelled delicious, but Li Xi couldn't taste it.

The incident that afternoon had a significant impact on her, and she couldn't help but tentatively ask, "Brother Tingshen, how was the food at the school cafeteria at noon today?"

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.

Fu Tingshen's expression remained unchanged, and his actions of picking up food were very smooth, without pausing even once.

Without rushing to answer Li Xi's question, he said, "Come on, eat some shrimp. I specially went to the market to buy these. Luckily, I ran fast, or they would have been gone in a second."

A shrimp sits atop a bowl of white rice, its juices glistening on it, making it stand out prominently.

After completing this series of actions, he said, "I wasn't in the cafeteria at noon. I went to the state-run restaurant near the department store. I wanted to have a big meal while you were away, but I didn't expect you to ask. It seems even God won't let me keep it from you."

Then, puzzled, he asked, "Why did you suddenly ask that?"

Li Xi's eyes darted around. "Oh, it's nothing. I just wanted to eat the braised pork from the cafeteria and wanted to ask if you got to eat it today."

"Is that so?" Fu Tingshen asked ambiguously.

Before Li Xi could react, he said excitedly, "Speaking of state-run restaurants, I met a girl there whose back view looked a lot like yours. What's even more coincidental is that the man next to her called her Xiao Xi. Isn't that a coincidence?"

His tone was relaxed, as if he were simply sharing a funny story with her, without even glancing at her.

Li Xi secretly relaxed. Fortunately, otherwise he would have noticed her unpleasant expression as soon as he looked up.

She buried her head in her food, her chopsticks moving faster. "Really? That's quite a coincidence."

"Yeah, if it weren't for the man next to her, I would have almost thought it was you."

Changing the subject: "Hey, by the way, where did you go today? Why are you back so late? Were you feeling unwell?"

What seemed like ordinary concern sounded like a shackle to Li Xi.

Her eyes remained lowered. "A bit of a rogue, just wandering around."

Fu Tingshen hummed in response, and then said nothing more.

The atmosphere was eerily quiet. Li Xi put down her chopsticks and tried to clean up, but Fu Tingshen stopped her, saying that the bathwater was ready and she should go quickly.

Once again pinned down by Fu Tingshen, Li Xi's fear remained, perhaps even greater.

Before he could even utter a word of pleading, it was choked off, swallowed up along with his breath.

It was still the same love without foreplay, a tearing pain sweeping over my whole body, so painful I could hardly breathe, new wounds pressing on old ones, repeating yesterday's routine.

While he was suffering so much, Ye Zhiyu was not having an easy time either.

In the afternoon, Brother Chen Binlong suddenly came to visit, saying that there was a problem with a batch of goods in Haishi and he had to go and take a look.

Lu Chen had to leave immediately, and Ye Zhiyu helped him pack his clothes.

"You'll need this, and you should take that with you too, so you don't get lost when you're in a hurry."

"And this..."

"that..."

Lu Chen stretched out his long arm and trapped the person who was circling in the room in his arms.

Ye Zhiyu twisted her body, still holding the things she was going to pack for him, and propped herself up with her hand.

"Let me go! There's still so much to pack. Brother Chen's car will be here soon." The voice sounded normal.

Lu Chen turned her around, and sure enough, her eyes were red-rimmed.

He sighed, took the things from her hands and threw them aside, then his large body enveloped her.

"Okay, I'll be back soon, okay? Don't be sad, your eyes are all red."

Her chest was being pushed by a small hand, and she retorted, "Who said I was sad? My eyes are red because sand got in them."

A jolt came from her chest, causing Ye Zhiyu to sway as well. Lu Chen's voice, tinged with amusement, came through the room: "Where's the sand in the room?"

"If I say it's there, then it is." Ye Zhiyu pouted, her competitive spirit rising, temporarily forgetting the sadness of their brief separation.

"Okay, okay, yes, you say so, so it is."

The person in his arms quieted down, her slender arms wrapping around his waist, and said in a muffled voice, "You need to come back soon."

Inside the room, Lu Chen was only wearing an undershirt, so he sensed Ye Zhiyu's tears the moment they welled up.

When you loosen your grip on her slightly and look down, large, pearl-like tears are falling in droves.

Lu Chen bent down slightly to taste the pearls; they were sweet.

One by one, he kissed the soft, warm skin he had already explored and become familiar with.

She gently parted her pearly teeth, and her master was caught off guard.

A powerful aura wafted over, enticing the smooth, delicate skin to dance gracefully.

A large hand lifted the hem of his clothes and slipped inside, slowly moving upwards close to his skin.

"Mmm~" Ye Zhiyu let out a sweet moan, her hand weakly reaching out through a pair of hands that were trying to grab him.

She pushed him hard to free herself, her breath coming in gasps: "No, your luggage..."

Lu Chen wasn't angry when he was pushed away; he simply took off his shirt.

With a long reach, he pulled the fleeing man back into his city of desire.

"Don't worry about it. I'm a grown man, I don't need to be so meticulous."

Ye Zhiyu tried to struggle, but Lu Chen sank down on her, and all that remained were broken groans.

"Sweetie, there are only two hours left. I'll go crazy if I don't see you for a few days. Be good." He was also reluctant to leave Ayu, but if this matter wasn't resolved, they would have to start all over again.

"Mmm~"

Ye Zhiyu softened upon hearing this, but there was still one problem.

However, Lu Chen did not want to answer her question.

Looking from the entryway towards the sofa, all you can see is a pair of slender, fair arms reaching upstairs, indicating a desire to go upstairs to the bedroom.

But opportunity only comes to those who have the initiative, and soon the outstretched arm was pressed down by a large hand.

Slightly wrinkled clothes were scattered around.
