Chapter 2 The Captain's Son

A male educated youth, his eyes bloodshot, suddenly shouted, "So what if he's the brigade leader's son? Does that mean he can bully people without being severely punished?"

“Yes, if the team doesn’t care, we’ll go to the town; if the town doesn’t care, we’ll go to the county.”

"Yes, we demand an explanation."

Ye Zhiyu was speechless. Which eye of yours saw someone bullying me? Do you even have a brain?

What explanation do you want?

Captain Lu Weimin arrived with another group of people, panting and sweating profusely.

As soon as he arrived, he saw a group of people surrounding his son, pointing and whispering.

The villagers made way for Lu Weimin, letting him go to the front.

Lu Weimin stood directly in front of Lu Chen and asked in a deep voice, "What explanation do you want?"

His protective stance silenced the noisy educated youth who had been making a fuss.

The villagers who had just been watching the commotion explained the gist of the matter.

Lu Weimin wasn't stupid; he immediately identified the problem.

"Li Zhiqing, is that the one who came to tell us to come and rescue people?"

Li Xi timidly hid behind Fu Tingshen, her head bowed: "Yes."

"Okay, since you came here to save someone, and my son saved the person, what do you mean by stopping us from taking the person to the clinic?"

"That's right, that's right."

The villagers who came either grew up with Lu Chen or watched him grow up. They were there to watch the excitement, but their hearts were with him.

Li Xi bit her lip. "Captain, I know he's your son, but you can't favor him. We were all sent-down youth responding to the country's call to participate in the construction. I went to report the news and rescue people, but when I left, Zhiyu was fine. In the blink of an eye, he's like this. When we came, we saw him carrying Zhiyu on his back. Who knows if Zhiyu would have disappeared if we hadn't met him?"

Lu Weimin squinted, "Which eye of yours saw my son bullying her?"

A single sentence jolted me awake: "Yes, who saw it?"

On the contrary, this female educated youth kept leading them to think in that direction.

Li Xi hesitated and could only cry softly. Seeing this, Fu Tingshen shielded her completely, as if to say, "Don't even think about bullying me, Captain."

As the two sides faced off, Ye Zhiyu's body slowly regained sensation, almost waking up.

Suddenly, to her surprise, Li Xi took advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention and hid behind a group of educated youths, trying to strip her clothes off.

Ye Zhiyu accelerated immediately, regained her mobility, and suddenly opened her eyes.

As Li Xi was unbuttoning her clothes, she met Ye Zhiyu's open eyes and was immediately terrified, letting out a scream.

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

He leaned backward, using his hands and feet to quickly move away from Ye Zhiyu.

The people around were startled and looked over.

Seeing that Ye Zhiyu had woken up, the female leader of the educated youth settlement ran over to help her up.

"You're awake. Are you alright? How are you feeling?"

Ye Zhiyu shook her head helplessly, her gaze fixed on Li Xi, who was still sprawled on the ground.

Li Xi felt uneasy under her gaze, gently got up, and put on a worried expression, "Thank goodness, Zhiyu, you're finally awake. I was so worried."

Ye Zhiyu sneered: "You're about to strip me naked. If I don't wake up soon, I really won't survive."

Li Xi's face stiffened, and she gave an awkward laugh. "Zhiyu, what are you talking about? I don't understand."

The group exchanged bewildered glances; something was definitely amiss.

Captain Lu Weimin looked disgusted and turned to ask, "Ye Zhiqing, you've just woken up. How did you faint? Tell everyone the truth."

Before Ye Zhiyu could speak, Li Xi interrupted, "That's right, Zhiyu, we're all here. Don't be afraid. Whether he bullied you or not, we're all on your side."

A male educated youth chimed in, sticking his neck out: "Yes, tell me what's wrong with you. Did this kid bully you?"

Ye Zhiyu exclaimed, "Wow, that's brilliant! She's made a preconceived notion. If the original owner were here, she would definitely have gone along with what she said, since the original owner didn't see who hit her either."

Unfortunately, she wasn't the original owner of this body.

Ye Zhiyu looked in the direction they were pointing and saw a tall man wearing a coarse cloth short jacket. He had deep-set features and his brows were slightly furrowed. There was a scar on his brow bone.

They look like they're not to be messed with.

There's a high probability that someone did a good deed but was wrongly accused, and they'll look very unhappy.

The male educated youth urged, "Educated Youth Ye, speak up."

My train of thought was interrupted.

Ye Zhiyu frowned, her spoiled temper flaring up, and she retorted directly: "Which eye of yours saw him bullying me? You just start making things up, don't you?"

"My head has been bleeding for half a day, and you haven't taken me to the clinic first. Instead, you're arguing about who saved me."

"If anything happens to me today, you will all be the murderers."

The educated youth looked annoyed upon hearing this, especially the loud and boisterous male educated youth who slapped his head.

Why didn't I think of that? If only... sigh, thinking this, I slapped my head again.

Ye Zhiyu's lips twitched. This person must be an idiot.

Captain Lu Weimin's expression softened. "Then, Ye Zhiqing, what happened to the injury on your head?"

Ye Zhiyu's eyes searched through the crowd and spotted a middle-aged man with a sleazy appearance hiding timidly at the back of the crowd.

"It was him. He hit me and tried to steal my money."

The crowd looked in the direction she pointed, and upon seeing the person, they erupted in an uproar.

"Isn't this Old Wang?"

"That's not right, he came with us from behind, that's impossible."

When someone raised a question, Old Wang seized the opportunity to criticize, refusing to admit anything: "That's right, I've been with everyone the whole time, don't make false accusations."

Without evidence, who would dare to do anything to him? He's acting like a dead pig that's not afraid of boiling water.

Lu Weimin glanced at his son and saw him nod, so he understood.

"Who says I have no evidence? What are your weaknesses?"

Old Wang looked down and noticed some small, dark spots of varying sizes on his dark brown jacket.

Those were bloodstains from when Ye Zhiyu was hit with a stick.

He hurriedly tried to brush it off, saying, "It's a little oily, what, you're going to meddle with that too?"

"Oh, your food must be really good." Ye Zhiyu said meaningfully.

Everyone in the village knew that Old Wang was destitute, his meals were always so simple, and he was over fifty and still couldn't find a wife.

Besides, who uses that much oil when cooking?

Noticing the strange looks from the crowd, he wiped the sweat from his face with trembling hands and said stiffly, "Can't I have a better meal today?"

“But you forgot, someone else saw you.” Ye Zhiyu said calmly.

"Tell me, who is it? I want to confront him face to face!" Old Wang shouted excitedly, but immediately regretted it as he realized who it was.

Everyone realized what was going on and looked at Lu Chen, who hadn't said a word.

Lu Weimin: "Second brother, tell me, what did you see?"

As she spoke, she glared at the group of educated youth, urging them to continue slandering her son.

“I saw him knock Ye Zhiqing unconscious. As soon as he made a sound, he ran away in fright.”
