Chapter 30 Postponement of the Wedding
Li Mingyuan was a little drunk when he returned home, and he smelled of perfume from the bar. The two people sitting in the living room smelled it as soon as he entered the door.
"Why did you drink so much?" Li Mingyu put down the book in his hand, immediately stood up and walked over to him, supporting his shaking arm. Li Mingyuan's body was limp, and he leaned lazily against his second brother, resting his head on his shoulder and sighing with satisfaction.
Wu Yihan watched from the side, shook his head helplessly, put down the tablet and stood up: "I'll go get him a glass of honey water." There was a habitual tolerance and a hint of imperceptible indulgence in his tone.
Li Mingyu half-supported, half-carried him to the sofa and sat him down. Li Mingyuan slumped down on the soft sofa as if boneless, his cheeks flushed. He stared at the double images of his two brothers in front of him with a dazed look, and suddenly smiled foolishly.
"Hey hey... Second brother... Big brother..." He called out incoherently, with a strong smell of alcohol, "You guys... haven't slept yet... Are you waiting for me?"
Wu Yihan returned with warm honey water. Upon hearing his words, he snorted unhappily, "Who's waiting for you? Stop being so sentimental." Despite saying so, he still handed the cup to his brother's mouth and said, "Drink it."
Li Mingyuan took his elder brother's hand and drank a few sips obediently. The warm and sweet liquid slid down his throat, making him squint his eyes comfortably. The smell of alcohol and unfamiliar perfume on his body became more and more obvious in the quiet living room.
Li Mingyu sniffed gently, with a hint of worry and curiosity on his gentle face: "Xiao Yuan, where did you go to play? Why do you smell so good?" He asked rather tactfully.
"Does it smell good?" Li Mingyuan raised his arm and sniffed it himself, then smiled again, with a hint of boasting, "Good-looking boys... all smell so good... hehe..."
Wu Yihan's brows furrowed slightly. He wasn't a conservative person, but he still found his brother's indulgence somewhat unsatisfactory. "Who did you go with? Xiaoxue?"
"Yeah! Xuexi... took me there..." Li Mingyuan nodded vigorously, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret, but in fact, the volume did not decrease at all, "Her bar! There are so many people... It's so fun... She is so good... I hugged one on the left... and touched one on the right..."
He gestured with his hands and spoke incoherently, but it was enough for his two brothers to imagine what the scene was like.
Li Mingyu felt a little amused and patted his arm gently: "Why did you learn these from her?" There was not much blame in his tone, but more of a sense of fun in his brother's silly look.
"But the most interesting thing is not these. It's that I met Liao Feng's baby." He was lying quietly on the sofa, but suddenly sat up as if he remembered something, and said excitedly while holding Li Mingyu's hand.
I became interested when I heard about the two of them. Liao Feng was particularly concerned about that child?
Li Mingyuan: "When he saw Xue Xi, he was like seeing a ghost." Because he was drunk, he was in a very restless mood. Sometimes he spoke passionately, and sometimes he lay on the sofa in a depressed mood, which made Wu Yihan and the others feel helpless.
After finally helping him to sleep, it was already very late. Li Mingyu was not able to stay up all night, so Wu Yihan held him in his arms. For some reason, both of them felt a little insomniac.
"Brother, why don't we postpone the wedding date?" Li Mingyu thought for a long time and looked at him. Hearing Li Mingyu, Wu Yihan tightened his arms around him almost imperceptibly, his closed eyelashes trembled, and then slowly opened.
He didn't immediately refute or agree, but lowered his head in the dim light, trying to see Li Mingyu's expression, his voice low and steady: "Why do you say that suddenly?"
Li Mingyu turned around in his arms and looked up at him, his eyes filled with clear worry and a subtle hint of guilt. "I don't know... I just feel very uneasy." He pursed his lips and continued, "Look at An Ge and Xiao Yan. They're still in the hospital, and we don't know what their situation is... They're in so much pain."
He reached out and unconsciously clutched the front of Wu Yihan's pajamas. "We...we're having a grand wedding at this time, as if we don't care about their lives at all...I don't think this is right, brother. I can't accept everyone's blessings at this time with peace of mind."
Wu Yihan listened quietly, his deep gaze falling on Li Mingyu's face full of anxiety. He understood Li Mingyu's thoughts. His Xiaoyu was always so kind and sensitive.
The words he had prepared about "not having to be kidnapped by others" suddenly became difficult to say when he saw the real pain in Li Mingyu's eyes.
He was silent for a long time, which eventually turned into a very light sigh. He tightened his arms and hugged her deeper into his arms, his chin resting on the top of Li Mingyu's head. His voice was even lower than before, even with a hint of compromise:
"I understand." He paused, as if making a difficult decision. "If you feel that this cannot bring peace of mind, then we... can wait a little longer."
This concession made Li Mingyu slightly stunned. He didn't expect Wu Yihan to change his mind so quickly.
Wu Yihan sensed his surprise and gently stroked his back, explaining, "You're right. At this moment, our joy does seem... a little inappropriate. Especially for Yi'an." At the mention of Yi'an, a hint of complex emotion slipped into his voice. "At least, until his condition stabilizes, until everyone... can take a breath."
His words no longer had the absolute firmness they had before, but were replaced by a maturity that assessed the situation and respect for Li Mingyu's feelings.
He postponed his wedding not because he was completely "kidnapped", but because he understood Li Mingyu's anxiety, and he himself had a complex sense of responsibility and guilt towards his old lover that he could not completely let go.
"The wedding is important," Wu Yihan said softly, but with renewed determination. "But it should be held when all of us can face it calmly, not like now, when it's mixed with so many other emotions. I hope that on that day, you will feel only pure happiness and joy, without even the slightest reluctance or guilt."
Li Mingyu looked up at him. In the dim light, Wu Yihan's eyes were deep and gentle, full of understanding and tolerance. He felt warm at the thought of his request being so seriously accepted, but at the same time, he felt a little distressed that his brother had to make such a concession.
He reached out and hugged Wu Yihan back, burying his face in the crook of his neck, and said muffledly: "Brother, I'm sorry... and thank you."
"Silly." Wu Yihan kissed his hair. "Go to sleep. Tomorrow I will personally contact the hotel and all parties involved to explain the situation and postpone the wedding. Everything will be taken care of, don't worry."
The night was deep, and the two hugged each other. Because of a difficult but unanimous decision, their hearts were strangely calm.
When the news of the postponement of the wedding reached their ears the next day, Xu Nuoyan subconsciously looked at Ran Yian next to him, but he did not react and just looked at the medical records in his hand quietly.
"Brother An, it seems like we still need a few months before we can be discharged from the hospital." He climbed from his bed to Ran Yian's bed. They hadn't broken up yet, so it was nice to lie together. Ran Yian was reluctant to push him away. He had finally crawled over here, and if he went back, what if he pulled his wound?
Seeing that he wouldn't let him leave, Xu Nuoyan took advantage of the situation and hugged him, lying on his chest like he did at home. Although Xu Nuoyan was always the aggressor, he preferred to act like a spoiled child in front of Ran Yian because she was younger than him and habitually relied on him.
"I'm injured, you really are," Ran Yian complained, but his hand still stroked his head, wondering why they postponed their wedding. Could it be because of him? The thought of this made him feel uncomfortable. He didn't want to be the one who destroyed other people's marriages.
When Liao Feng brought the food in, he saw them hugging each other. He felt that his vision was damaged, especially since they were both patients, and wearing hospital gowns gave him a weird feeling. "You two hugging each other like this really look like psychos, you know?"
He put the lunch box on the table, hoping that the idiot Xu Nuoyan would get up from Ran Yian and stop disgusting him. Xu Nuoyan rolled his eyes at him and was about to go back to his own bed, but found that he couldn't move, so he looked up at him.
Ran Yian's bad mood suddenly relaxed because of the two of them. They were so funny, and he was curious about Liao Feng's reaction.
Liao Feng's face was full of question marks. Did Xu Nuoyan mean for him to carry him to his own bed? Xu Nuoyan nodded, looking very righteous.
"Don't you have long legs? What are your legs for?" He could carry Xu Nuoyan on his back when he was dying, but he didn't want to carry Xu Nuoyan from one bed to another. He felt embarrassed just thinking about that scene.
"If you carry me, you will die." He clearly saw the disgust in Liao Feng's eyes, so he was ready to get out of bed, and then he fell to the ground with a thud. The sound was very pleasant. Liao Feng's first reaction was not to help him up, but to take a photo and send it to Song Xuexi.
Xu Nuoyan: "Damn it, are you sick? Help me up." He has become immune to the behavior of his bad friend Liao Feng. If Song Xuexi was there, it would become two people mocking him together.
Liao Feng put away his phone and helped him up. Xu Nuoyan was in so much pain that he was held up by him. He felt so embarrassed that he wanted to die. He could tolerate it at other times, but being held by another man in front of his partner was such an embarrassing scene.
But when he looked back, there was a faint smile on Ran Yian's pale face. Seeing him smile, Xu Nuoyan felt that it was worth it. He felt that he had gained something by seeing Ran Yian smile after falling.
Liao Feng had always disliked his love-brained behavior, and now seeing him looking at Ran Yian with a crazy look on his face, he really wanted to slap him. In the end, he promised Nuoyan and slapped him on the head, "If you move again next time, I will throw you into the private room." After saying that, he put the lunch box in his hand, turned around and handed the lunch box to Ran Yian.
At noon, he had to go back because of an emergency meeting at the company. He repeatedly reminded them several times before leaving the hospital. Ran Yian closed his eyes and fell asleep, and Xu Nuoyan looked at him for several hours, motionless.
"You've been looking at me for three hours. Am I a laboratory specimen?" When he woke up, he found Xu Nuoyan still looking at him, so he couldn't help but ask. Xu Nuoyan was not embarrassed by being discovered, but continued to look at him and said, "Is it not okay for me to look at my boyfriend?"
When Ran Yian heard him say that, she almost said, "I want to break up," but she swallowed the words in the end. Now Xu Nuoyan is still lying in the hospital bed, and it is really a bit too much to break up now because of him.
At this time, two people they were not expecting came in. They were Li Mingyu and Wu Yihan. Seeing them, Xu Nuoyan didn't think anything of it, but this was not a good thing for Ran Yian.
"Brother, second brother, why are you here?" Xu Nuoyan broke the silence. Li Mingyu's gaze moved from Ran Yian to Xu Nuoyan, and he walked over to him and sat down.
"Xiaoyan, are you okay?" Xu Nuoyan is the genius he values most. He is a genius in scientific research, and Xu Nuoyan's parents are his teachers.
Ran Yian felt that they were getting too close, and Wu Yihan at the door felt the same way. He didn't understand why Xiaoyu valued Xu Nuoyan so much, although he also acknowledged Xu Nuoyan's talent.
"Xiaoyu, don't get so close to him," Wu Yihan always said directly when he was jealous. He walked over and hugged Li Mingyu's waist to let him lean against him.
Xu Nuoyan felt speechless looking at the two of them. No wonder Li Mingyuan was not at home and was out every day. Who could stand the two of them being so clingy?
Li Mingyu pushed him gently. He didn't like being so intimate in public, especially in front of Wu Yihan's ex. It would make a bad impression, as if he was deliberately showing off.
"Brother An, how are you?" Li Mingyu looked at Ran Yian, his tone filled with subtle nervousness, but Ran Yian didn't even look at him. He just looked at Xu Nuoyan and replied, "I'm fine, thank you for your concern." This polite and distant sentence made him feel more uncomfortable than any scolding.
A feeling of guilt and shame crept up his chest, making it hard for him to breathe. Wu Yihan noticed that something was wrong with him and quickly took out a tranquilizer from his pocket and fed it to him. After taking the medicine, Li Mingyu looked much better.
"Xiaoyu, you're not feeling well, so you'd better go back." Ran Yian frowned not because he was disgusted, but because he felt distressed from the bottom of his heart. He had always been very friendly to Li Mingyu. During his school days, he often went to their house and met Li Mingyu often. But after those things that happened later, Ran Yian's eyes changed when he looked at him.
He ordered everyone to leave, and no one dared to say anything. Xu Nuoyan had always listened to him on everything, and Wu Yihan seemed to have no choice but to give in to Ran Yian. Li Mingyu also didn't say anything because he felt guilty.
"Then I'll come to see you next time." Li Mingyu stood up and took a last look at Ran Yian, then left with Wu Yihan. After they left, Xu Nuoyan turned around and looked at Ran Yian. He found that she was crying, and his heart ached.
"Brother An..." He wanted to get out of bed but his body wouldn't allow it. He could only watch his lover suffer and could do nothing else.
