Chapter 189: Letter of Advice from the Guild

Chapter 189: Letter of Advice from the Guild

Lin Jiu didn't care.

His eyes fell on the silver box at his feet.

Looking closely, there was also an envelope on it.

He bent down to pick up the envelope, and after reminding others, he opened it and began to read.

This is your first mission as a novice exorcist, but don't worry, your senior, Todd, is a seasoned exorcist. To prevent accidents for a rookie like you, the guild has prepared a set of exorcist rules for you. Remember to keep them in mind.

Seeing the name Todd, Lin Jiu paused slightly, looked up at the strange person who was standing not far away and had not responded yet and was still an NPC.

He was wearing the same suit as Lin Jiu and the others, but the difference was that he had a red armband with gold embroidery on his arm.

It seems that this ghost is the veteran exorcist Todd.

Lin Jiu withdrew his gaze and continued to look down.

[Rule 1: Remain calm when encountering any monster. If you can't face it, retreat immediately! Remember! Don't think retreating is shameful!]

[Rule 2: This mission is relatively low-level, so there are only five bottles of holy water. Remember to use it sparingly.]

[Rule 3: The cross is effective against most monsters, but its effectiveness will weaken with each use, so remember to pay attention.]

[Rule 4: Silver weapons are effective against all monsters, and are most effective against vampires!]

[Rule 5: According to the guild's investigation, the monsters you will encounter this time are very likely vampires. Remember to pay attention to Mr. and Mrs. Smith.]

[Rule 6: Darkness is when demons are most active, and it's also the best time to perform exorcisms. However, when patrolling at night, you must pay attention to safety! Note: Patrols should be conducted in groups of two.]

[Rule 7: Don't believe anything a monster says!]

[Rule 8: If you hear any suspicious sounds, you must calmly analyze them and not act rashly. It's best to have a secret code between teammates.]

Rule 9: Most monsters have the ability to infect others. Once an incident begins, be sure to pay attention to everyone around you. If anyone seems suspiciously missing for a while, be vigilant! You can use holy water or other weapons to test for them.

[Rule 10: Finally, I wish all exorcists good luck! Please make sure to come back alive, newbie!]

After reading the letter from the guild, Lin Jiu first quickly went over all the rules in his mind. Anyway, they were all correct, so he only needed to remember them and did not need to judge anything.

The others were still watching. The three newcomers were obviously nervous and their progress was very slow.

But the game won't wait for them.

With a sharp creak, the gate of the castle opened.

The veteran players had just finished reading all the rules and all looked up.

The person who walked out of the castle was a white-haired old man in butler's clothes.

Todd walked in front of the players without knowing when.

"Good evening, gentlemen exorcists." The butler walked forward cheerfully and gave a gentleman's salute. "Thank you very much for accepting the commission from the castle."

"A monster has appeared, so we're definitely here." Todd was very good at handling this kind of polite conversation, and he immediately took the initiative to take the lead in the conversation. "How are Mr. and Mrs. Smith?"

The housekeeper looked distressed when he heard this: "Not so good. The master and the mistress haven't even had a good rest recently."

"Is that so...? I understand. We'll find the monster and exorcise it as soon as possible."

Todd didn't give the butler a chance to exchange pleasantries. After saying this, he naturally hinted that it was time to enter the castle. "It's getting dark soon, maybe we can explore the interior of the castle in advance."

"Oh...that's right." The butler nodded and moved aside to make room for someone. "Everyone, please."

Todd nodded, turned around and motioned for the players to follow.

Lin Jiu picked up the box on the ground and followed first.

Charles followed closely behind.

After passing through the gate, you will first see a somewhat deserted front yard.

Because there are trees all around, the front yard gives people a gloomy feeling even though the sun has not set yet.

The castle itself gives people a feeling of being full of evil spirits.

Unlike Lin Jiu who looked around boldly, Todd and other players were very cautious or careful.

The butler walked in front to lead the way, with the castle gate open. After all the players went in, he smiled and went to close the gate first, then came back to close the castle gate.

After Todd entered the castle, he began to observe his surroundings. When the butler returned, he asked directly, "Where are the most common places for strange phenomena to occur recently?"

The butler quickly replied, "The master's study, the corridor, and the utility room."

He then added some information about where strange phenomena occasionally occur.

To sum up, the only things that haven't appeared are the living room and the rooms of Mr. and Mrs. Smith's two children.

Todd nodded. As he walked around the living room, he asked, "Where are Mr. and Mrs. Smith's rooms?"

"It's in the innermost room on the left side of the third floor," the butler replied.

"Okay, I understand." Todd said with a smile, "I'd like to trouble you to show us around the castle."

The housekeeper smiled and said, "It's not a big deal. You all have come from afar, so we naturally want to entertain you well."

The butler and Todd walked in front, and the players followed behind like a tail.

This period of time is safe, and the three newcomers took this opportunity to read all the rules. As for how much they remembered, no one knows.

The castle is very large and has three floors in total.

The first floor is mainly composed of a living room, kitchen and dining room, and the remaining space is a reception room and a utility room.

The second floor is home to some guest rooms, a study, and the housekeeper's own room.

The third floor houses the rooms of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Joel, and Anna, as well as a second utility room.

Strange things happened in both storage rooms, but the one on the third floor was the worst.

It took about twenty minutes to tour the entire castle, and then a few more minutes to assign rooms.

After returning to the living room, Todd asked the butler one last question: "Excuse me, is there a basement in the castle?"

The butler did not answer this question as quickly as before. Instead, after thinking for a while, he slowly shook his head and said, "No, I didn't know there was a basement in the castle."

Todd stared at the butler's expression for a few seconds, then looked away before the butler looked over.

"Okay, I understand the general situation." Todd smiled slightly: "Thank you for your hard work."

The butler shook his head: "No, no."

The two exchanged pleasantries.

The butler glanced at the time and saw that the sun was already setting outside.

"Then I'll go prepare dinner for you all. Mr. and Mrs. probably won't be dining with you tonight."

Todd waved his hand: "It doesn't matter. Your health is the most important."

The butler nodded and left.

In the living room, only Todd and the ten players were left.
