Chapter 12 Research Institute

Hearing her brother's words, the mother frowned visibly: "Is there a problem in your class too?"

There are more people wearing green clothes than before.

My brother spoke with such confidence, as if to say, "Bring me a lie detector, and I'll tell you the truth."

Even the father frowned: "Is things getting serious at Green Burn Middle School too?"

Yin Zhu and her brother exchanged a glance and saw the smile in each other's eyes. They roughly understood: it was the truth, but completely different from what their parents thought. If their parents thought half the class had been affected, then in reality, it was probably only two or three people.

"I'm asking for leave for you today. Please come with us."

The mother reluctantly agreed.

...

"What does this older brother want to do? He doesn't seem to be the embodiment of evil?"

"The strangest thing about this family is probably the mother. During dinner, Yin Zhu created a conflict, but the father and brother didn't react. Only the mother clearly wanted to kill the Chosen One."

"What if the lie gets exposed later? Will that cause problems?"

"I bet five cents that it won't happen. Yin Zhu's talent skill can obviously circumvent illegal behavior. Unless it's a creature without intelligence, he should be able to find a way to persuade the other party."

"I also wish I had this talent to score points immediately when I speak logically, so I wouldn't have to worry about exams."

"Upstairs, please don't make me remember this!"

"Shut up! Shut up!"

Perhaps because she had been tormented too much during her school days, that comment caused a huge uproar, and the barrage instantly turned into a student venting session. Fortunately, Yin Zhu on the live stream was on her way to the research institute in her parents' car, which was a very boring live stream, but it was enough for the viewers to pass the time.

The research institute where my parents worked wasn't too far away; you could even see the school's teaching buildings from the entrance.

However, they were not on the same project, so Yin Zhu happily carried her little backpack and wanted to follow her mother.

“You all go and follow your father.”

The mother flatly refused: "The subjects I'm researching are dangerous; you shouldn't come along."

Yin Zhu said pitifully, "I'll behave and not cause trouble."

"no."

Seeing that her mother seemed to be showing signs of change again, Yin Zhu quickly changed her tune: "Then Mom, please be careful. My brother and I are going to Dad's office to do our homework."

These words softened the mother's attitude somewhat, and she waved her hand as the two rascals followed their father away.

At this point, Yin Zhu had basically determined the source of the problem.

Dad's office was quite bright, and there was a researcher's code of conduct on the wall. Yin Zhu didn't even look at it, and just pushed her brother: "Brother, you go and look at it. I'm going to study. I'm a good student."

Yin Mei almost laughed out of anger: "Am I not one?"

"The older brother should learn to take care of the younger brother," Yin Zhu replied earnestly.

In the end, neither of them looked at the book, and their dad slapped them on the head each, making them obediently go to study.

Lunch was at the research institute's cafeteria. Since her mother hadn't arrived yet, her father took the two children to eat first. The cafeteria had rules, which Yin Zhu glanced at; most seemed normal, but one rule—"There are no green vegetables in the cafeteria; if you see them, don't order them"—was quite strange.

You can get food at the window, but Yin Zhu looked around and couldn't find any green vegetables. In the end, she ordered a stew of potatoes and beef, and also ordered a bowl of rice. She enjoyed a delicious meal.

When they had almost finished eating, Yin Zhu saw her mother come over.

My mother seemed a little tired. When she returned with the dishes, there was a green dish on the plate.

"Ah... Ugh!"

Just as Yin Zhu was about to say something, her brother next to her quickly stuffed a piece of braised pork into her mouth.

The mother seemed completely oblivious to anything amiss, and the father's expression remained unchanged. On the contrary, he glared at Yin Zhu and the other child, saying, "If you don't eat properly, I'll leave you at home next time."

Yin Zhu swallowed the meat with a sense of frustration.

After lunch, Mother seemed more energetic. She told Father to take good care of the two brothers before going back to her work.

This time, Yin Zhu didn't miss it and went straight after them.

"I'm going to the restroom."

Her brother didn't stop her, but just gave her a "good luck" look.

So when the father returned from the restroom, he found only the older brother at the dining table and immediately exclaimed, "Where's your brother?"

"He said he was going to the restroom, didn't you see him?" Yin Mei said casually.

"No." The father was puzzled, thinking that Yin Zhu was still in the toilet. "Then let's wait for him a little longer, so that he won't come back and not be able to find us."

Yin Zhu chased after them all the way...

Then his mother found out.

Why did you follow me here?

Her mother glared at her fiercely, but wasn't particularly angry: "Don't run around. Many things at the research institute are very valuable."

Yin Zhu blinked: "Don't you know who I am? Let me see, maybe I have a way."

At this point, she held up two fingers and waved them: "When she encounters such strange things, she probably would also want to help others, right?"

...

"Aaaaaah, I can't watch anymore! I feel like he's got so many death flags hanging over his head that he can't possibly remove them all! Just look at him!"

"Is he confronting the indigenous people?"

"The Bizarre World Where Only Dad Was Kept in the Dark"

"Don't just type in a random sentence and call it the title of a light novel!"

On the screen, the mother was staring at Yin Zhu with a blank expression. Neither of them spoke, and Yin Zhu maintained her bright smile, seemingly unaware that she had said anything outrageous.

In the end, the mother actually gave in.

"Alright, brat, don't say a word once you're inside."

The mother led Yin Zhu to her office. As they reached the door, Yin Zhu glanced at the sign—[Green] . Her mother opened the door, pulled her inside, and quickly closed it.

As soon as Yin Zhu entered her mother's office, she had a bad feeling. The room was rather dark and even unusually quiet.

The moment the door opened, Yin Zhu noticed that there were three researchers in the office, all wearing work uniforms. They all looked towards the door at the same time, and only turned back after the door closed.

When moving from a bright place to a dim one, the eyes are not very useful at first and need some time to adjust, so Yin Zhu immediately focused all her attention on her ears.

Her mother led her to the desk, broke off a glow stick for him, and handed her a piece of paper, part of which was covered by brown stains.
