Perhaps somewhat surprised that Yin Zhu actually had something to say, the burly man's expression immediately became somewhat subtle: "What is the property management committee? Why are you looking for me?"
Yin Zhu had already prepared her words, so they came out naturally: "I was working outside for several days, and I finally got home today, only to find that there's already a manager in charge of the community. You living here should be aware of that, right?"
The skeletal man stood beside him listening, his head nodding involuntarily.
Yin Zhu's gaze swept over the two of them in a very routine manner. He continued, "Although I don't know where the supervisor is, it's really unsettling to have someone like this lurking in the neighborhood. Rather than waiting to be killed, we should take the initiative."
"You mean to say..."
The big guy felt he understood Yin Zhu's meaning and smoothly continued, "By establishing a property management committee and counting all the residents in each room, we can minimize the space for that manager and force him out. Even if we don't find a manager, we can still gain a greater advantage in the community."
Uh, actually I didn't think that way.
Because of the time constraints, Yin Zhu only wanted to gather a group of people to formulate new rules based on the community's existing rules, in order to help other residents avoid danger. Doing things under the guise of "for your own good" is likely to gain more support.
This idea also has flaws, because most citizens of Sin City don't care about the lives of others.
However, upon hearing what the big guy said, Yin Zhu immediately nodded, as if she had just heard what she was thinking: "That's right, sis, what should I call you? Your reaction is so quick, you got what I was trying to say right away."
The big guy's ideas were more in line with the local customs of Sin City—that one's own interests were paramount.
"He Biansheng, everyone calls me Brother Sheng."
The skeletal man next to him then raised a question: "Can the three of us really form a property management committee? The other residents in the community might not listen to us, right?"
“I’ve been thinking about who I should invite to join the committee,” Yin Zhu said. “As soon as I saw Brother Sheng, I felt that you were a good fit. You have high combat skills, but you also seem very intelligent. You’re not the kind of fool who only has strength. I was worried that I wouldn’t have a reason to strike up a conversation, but I didn’t expect you to come to me like this.”
The last sentence was a joke, which made He Biansheng burst into laughter.
Yin Zhu's flattery did make He Biansheng feel much better. After laughing, she looked Yin Zhu up and down, then suddenly reached out and patted her head: "I'll protect you in this neighborhood from now on."
Yin Zhu felt no emotion at the fact that a woman referred to herself as "brother".
After all, many female celebrities on Earth are called "brother" by their fans because of their overly bold personality, and some female celebrities even directly refer to themselves as men. The social and psychological issues involved are very complex, and we will not discuss them further for now.
Yin Zhu appreciated He Biansheng's kindness; this thing was a rare find in Sin City.
However, Yin Zhu wouldn't really rely entirely on others for protection. After all, if someone is willing to protect you, they certainly expect you to obey them; if you refuse to comply one day, the day you fall out might be the day they're ready to kill you.
Relying on others for everything is just as terrible as having nothing at all.
This is why Yin Zhu knocked on the neighbor's door. Since returning home yesterday, Yin Zhu had noticed the lights were on in the skeletal man's apartment, knowing that someone had moved in across the hall. She even suspected that he had been watching her through the peephole, but hadn't made any rash moves.
People who do this are definitely not outgoing; they are wary but not overly so, and even if they are aggressive, they won't do it openly.
Today, Yin Zhu brought He Biansheng to his house, giving the neighbor a home-field advantage while also eliminating the threat posed by He Biansheng, who was following him. The only danger here is that if the two men know each other, Yin Zhu could very well be caught in a trap.
But don't forget, Jinggui knows the neighborhood well.
It would secretly tell Yin Zhu and He Biansheng about their situation, and naturally it would also know about the skeleton man across the street—Wang Gu.
Upon seeing He Biansheng extend an olive branch to Yin Zhu, Wang Gu immediately tensed up, fearing that he had let the wolf into the house and would be tricked by the two of them. He immediately took a few steps back without making a sound.
Yin Zhu naturally wouldn't let him off the hook.
She suddenly turned to look at Wang Gu, and smiled at him, saying, "Brother, since I thought of bringing this up at your house, it's natural that I trust you. I've met you once before; I think you work at a hospital?"
This was naturally something Jing Gui told Yin Zhu; otherwise, Yin Zhu wouldn't have been able to remember so many people and events.
"That's right, you've seen me before?"
"Yes, I happened to see you once when I passed by the hospital. I never thought we would become neighbors now."
Seeing that both of their eyes were on him, Wang Gu stopped avoiding them and took the opportunity to say, "I moved here after I found out that there was a supervisor here. Other residential areas either don't have a supervisor or the supervisor's rules are very strict, but this place is spacious and comfortable, which is great."
Of course it's lenient, because Jinggui isn't the real person in charge and basically doesn't dare to interfere in anything.
Yin Zhu mentally complained.
However, what Wang Gu said is indeed a line of thought. Most places in Sin City are dangerous. Places with rules are dangerous, but places without rules are even more dangerous, because you can never guess whether someone will give you a big "surprise" in the middle of the night.
Criminals are human beings too. What they want is the freedom to do whatever they want to others, not the freedom for others to do whatever they want to them.
