Looking at the long list of rules, Yin Zhu couldn't help but sigh:
That's just right.
Although the previous Jiayuan Community also had rules, those were self-written, so they always lacked something in terms of eeriness. Now, the strange rules of this inexplicable retirement apartment immediately made Yin Zhu's mind wander.
However, compared to the rules, Yin Zhu had something more important to do.
After closing the door and hearing the lock click shut, Yin Zhu went to the stairwell. Perhaps because these apartments were built for the elderly, the stairs were rarely used, making the stairwell very narrow and somewhat cramped.
In contrast, the elevator lobby is very spacious; compared to the elevator lobby of a normal residential building, the elevator here can even fit an emergency bed.
This place seems to have always been a suitable place for the elderly to live.
Yin Zhu couldn't help but ponder.
Compared to the previous kindergartens and temporary apartments, the nursing home did not have that strange sense of incongruity, unlike a situation where the manager requisitioned an area and renovated it.
It's likely that this place was originally a nursing home.
After going downstairs, Yin Zhu quickly found the Love Canteen. It was surrounded by many tall buildings, and the main entrance was a large heart shape. There were also many pink, white and red balloons tied around the entrance. If you didn't know better, you might think you were going to a wedding banquet.
The cafeteria also has rules, but perhaps considering the possibility of dementia, there are only three simple rules:
1. Food in the cafeteria must be eaten in the dining hall and cannot be taken out.
2. The cafeteria does not offer takeout service.
3. If you find anything strange in your food in the cafeteria, please return your tray and food to the window.
With no time limit, no content restrictions, and not even anything strange, Yin Zhu had never seen such simple rules before, and she was so moved that she almost cried.
Reassured, Yin Zhu walked into the restaurant and found a window to get her food: "Just give me whatever you want, I'm not picky."
The chef standing at the window sized Yin Zhu up and down, put down the long-handled rice ladle in his hand, and pointed to the right: "Young man? Go eat at the staff window, this is for the elderly."
The chef at the staff window didn't say anything more and served me a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, a large bowl of rice, and a plate of stir-fried celery with pork.
After this little incident, Yin Zhu took her meal to an empty table, smelled the aroma of the food, and began to eat heartily.
Now, the mealtime is a little later than that of the average elderly person, and there are only a few people in the charity canteen, including several young staff members.
The walls of the cafeteria are covered with motivational slogans, and older people really like them.
However, as she was eating, Yin Zhu suddenly noticed someone walking over and stopping beside her.
"Tsk tsk, little girl, aren't you afraid of getting fat from eating so much?"
A sarcastic remark slipped out.
Yin Zhu raised her head slightly and glanced at the old man in his sixties or seventies standing next to her. He was someone she had no connection with but who liked to act like a know-it-all. As always, she couldn't say anything nice: "Since you've come to Sin City, it's better to be a little chubby. But you, at such a young age, have no one to take care of you in your old age. You have to come to a place like this to suffer."
The old man showed no anger at Yin Zhu's offense, but just chuckled and said, "This is a good place, you young people wouldn't understand. But then again, you young people might not live to my age."
Yin Zhu sensed a hint of smugness in his voice.
Yin Zhu wasn't too bothered by the old man's counterattack: after all, when she attacked someone, she was already prepared to be countered.
However, the first half of the sentence bothered Yin Zhu.
Sin City Nursing Home...is a good place for the elderly?
Yin Zhu was completely bewildered by his cryptic words. She seemed to understand something, yet she also seemed to understand nothing at all. She couldn't figure it out for the time being, so she could only continue eating in silence.
Seeing that Yin Zhu ignored him, the old man felt awkward and walked over to other people's tables with his hands behind his back.
He seems like someone who likes to teach others.
Yin Zhu habitually discussed things with Jing Gui in her mind, but this time she didn't hear any sound. After a while, Yin Zhu remembered that Jing Gui had already started to dominate Jiayuan Community and had no time to care about her, the former "transporter".
However, one problem after another arose. Before Yin Zhu had finished eating, she heard strange noises coming from the cafeteria again.
"ah!"
An old woman's scream suddenly pierced the sky, the sharp sound almost penetrating Yin Zhu's eardrums and echoing throughout the entire charity canteen.
There weren't many people in the charity canteen at this time, and the old lady's shout immediately attracted everyone's attention.
Yin Zhu was no exception; she watched the commotion from the sidelines while holding a spoon in her mouth.
However, upon closer inspection, Yin Zhu noticed a problem.
The old lady's dish was chicken feet, which smelled delicious after being cooked. However, judging from the ring on the chicken feet, there was probably something quite terrifying hidden behind it.
The old lady seemed startled by the dish containing chicken feet. After calming herself down for a while, she finally took the tray to the window. This incident made Yin Zhu lose her appetite, and she seriously suspected that her food had also been skimped on. However, she didn't have the courage to prove it and could only accept it reluctantly.
3. If you find anything strange in your food in the cafeteria, please return your tray and food to the window.
Would people put rings on chicken feet?
How could that be? Only humans wear rings. So the origin of that dish is quite obvious.
What will the chef do with the returned food? Throw it away? That would be such a waste of food.
