Chapter 164 Qinglong Mountain Royal Sanatorium

Yin Zhu remained vigilant towards everyone at the Sin City Nursing Home.

Even though Hong Xigua seemed to have no major problems, Yin Zhu only chose to trust him after comparing him with others, but still maintained a certain level of vigilance.

After all, if things turn out differently, at least I won't be embarrassed.

So when Granny Sun started bringing up the topic of getting old, Yin Zhu already sensed something was wrong. Her words began to carry a hint of sarcasm, and she used a rather cheerful tone to cover up her hostility.

Just like Granny Sun didn't have good intentions towards her either.

When she was in school, Yin Zhu felt that life was hard and that you had to treat different people differently: be friendly to classmates, be filial and obedient to parents, be respectful to teachers, and have your own opinions about others... It seemed that to become an outstanding person, you had to be so shrewd that it was like you had a split personality.

However, after starting work, Yin Zhu has come to terms with her own incompetence. She can't do anything so complicated. Just reflecting others' attitudes back to her like a mirror is enough for her.

This is completely different from the ancient saying, "Use others as a mirror to understand your own gains and losses," but it is just as useful.

Mirrors are wonderful things.

The mirror trick is also one.

Having lost an external helper, Yin Zhu missed Jing Gui for the nth time. If it were here, it could have helped her see the residents of other buildings through the window.

However, considering that this is the city lord's territory, if trouble breaks out, Mirror Ghost himself may also be in danger.

Yin Zhu's job at the activity center is not complicated; it's basically like doing odd jobs. After all, these elderly people have lived here for many years and have long since formed their own system, so they don't need much outside help.

In fact, Yin Zhu has four colleagues at the activity center, but they rarely communicate with her.

Even as Yin Zhu walked toward them, she could clearly sense that they were deliberately avoiding her. Some were instructing the elderly on dancing, while others were helping them pack their things. Apart from Yin Zhu, they kept their distance from each other, as if they had formed some kind of tacit understanding.

Yin Zhu was initially a little hesitant, but then she quickly remembered one of the points in the employee guidelines.

6. Try to remain alone, avoid getting too close to the elderly, and never invite anyone to your home, even colleagues you met at the nursing home.

This conflictes with the guidelines for senior living apartments.

12. When returning home at night, please try not to be alone. It is best to walk with other residents to ensure your safety.

If only one of these two points is true, then without a doubt, judging from the performance of other employees, the information known to the employees is correct. However, Sin City's rules have always been genuine, not some deceptive gimmick, so this rule probably does have some applicability.

Having figured this out, Yin Zhu decided to observe the situation again after get off work today.

For the chosen ones, working in the nursing home is tedious and boring. Fortunately, they don't have to live there for the rest of their lives. They only need to find useful evidence and try to escape from Sin City.

The key to escape lies with the city lord.

The city lord is hiding in this sinful city's retirement home. He may have become an old man, an employee, a boss, or a secretary. No one knows what he looks like.

Even Yin Zhu could only use the process of elimination to subtly inquire about the existence of "Cheng Chu" from the elders.

Although Yin Zhu still came up empty-handed after a whole day, she did discover a pattern: the longer one has been an old person, the more blurred one's memories of the past become, while the shorter one has been an old person, the more one remembers about the outside world.

Yin Zhu asked almost half of the elderly people in the activity center, but not a single one of them could tell her anything about "Cheng Chu". Among these hundreds of elderly people, only about four or five still knew what a "city lord" was. Of those who did know, only one person advised Yin Zhu to follow the rules, while the others actually encouraged Yin Zhu to break the rules.

"That's really awful." To prevent her memory from deteriorating, Yin Zhu recorded the video on her phone, so she was idly scrolling through her phone while complaining about the old man she had just encountered.

After looking around as usual, Yin Zhu muttered to herself:

"Help my think tank check if they're lying. If there are people who know the city lord but aren't saying anything, there's probably something wrong with them."

The Blue Star think tank received the news, and people immediately began to work.

It was just past closing time, but Yin Zhu didn't rush to leave. She simply watched the other people leaving after she went outside. The employees weren't walking in groups; some even deliberately kept their distance from others.

The elderly people mostly traveled in twos and threes, as if it would be safer that way.

"Little girl, can you take me home?"

A hand patted Yin Zhu's shoulder. Because it happened so suddenly, Yin Zhu turned around and took several steps back before she could calm down and look at the old man.

This is an old man whose hair is white from head to toe, even his eyebrows are white. He is probably close to eighty or ninety years old. Even in the whole nursing home, he looks very old. He is leaning on a wooden cane covered with iron, and the head of the cane is shaped like a dragon.

He stroked his long white beard and asked Yin Zhu with a smile, "My wife passed away not long ago. Could you take me home?"

"Which building do you live in?" Yin Zhu did not refuse immediately.

"Me? I live in room 201 of Tian Shu Building." The old man thought Yin Zhu wanted to take him back.

“You look quite healthy.” Yin Zhu changed the subject and directly refused him. “I have to go back to the office. I’m afraid that if I take you there, it will be closed. So you should look for other elderly people. There are so many people in the nursing home, there must be someone who is with you.”
