The moment Yin Zhu could clearly see the inside of the room, her fists hardened.
She was absolutely certain that she had grasped the doorknob of room B26 after leaving the room, and that there was no sign of movement when she looked at the lights in the hospital corridor, but the room inside was clearly different from the one she had just left.
In other words, the room next to her had already changed the moment she stepped into the corridor.
No wonder the rules require patients to keep track of their room numbers; it's highly likely that Yin Zhu's location changed the moment she left the room.
Yin Zhu's thinking was too materialistic, which made it impossible for the supernatural world to directly embrace fantasy.
After quickly observing the bewildered man in the room, Yin Zhu leaned against the wall and chuckled, "I'm here to check on you. Have you been taking your medication on time?"
"Yes..." the man answered instinctively.
"How long have you been in the hospital? What illness did you have? Why haven't you been discharged yet?" Yin Zhu blurted out a series of questions, seemingly unaware that there was anything wrong with her behavior, as if she hadn't accidentally wandered into someone else's room and was there to interrogate them.
"One month... no, you're not a doctor!"
The man reacted quickly, pressing the button on the bedside table with remarkable efficiency, and then adopted a "If you dare to come any closer, I'll take you down with me" attitude.
18. If a doctor or nurse attacks you in your ward, you can press the button by your bedside to alert the doctor on duty, and then bravely fight back until the doctor comes to your aid.
Yin Zhu's eyelids twitched.
Indeed, she hadn't thought of that before. When Yin Zhu first saw this rule, she only thought of the strange nurse attacking others; she never imagined it could be used to summon a doctor.
This room is a little different from the B26 room where Grandma Yan lives. There is a cardboard box in the room, and the seams around the edges seem dirty. I wonder if it is this man's personal item.
Besides that, there was no one else in the house.
Yin Zhu felt vaguely that something was wrong.
The two remained silent for a moment, then footsteps echoed down the hallway. In the brightly lit corridor, a doctor in a white coat, carrying a lamp, ran up and knocked five times before opening the door: "What's going on?"
The person in the white coat was one of the people who brought Grandma Yan here.
"She's going to kill me!"
"It's a misunderstanding, I was just joking."
Yin Zhu and the man on the bed spoke almost in unison, but the content they said was completely different.
Before the man could say anything more, Yin Zhu continued, "I went into the wrong room. I didn't mean to visit. I was about to go back, but I felt that I had disturbed others, so I had to be polite and not just open the door and leave. So I made a harmless little joke."
The man looked at Yin Zhu with great suspicion.
Seeing that nothing serious had happened, the doctor in the white coat breathed a sigh of relief: "Come with me, I'll take you back."
"Thank you, I'm in room B26."
Yin Zhu politely accepted the offer from the doctor in the white coat and left the room with him without any further trouble.
After leaving the house, Yin Zhu looked back and found that the door number was B07.
The doctor in the white coat walked in front, and Yin Zhu followed behind. The two walked along the corridor for a while and finally stopped next to the ward marked "Room B26". Through the glass, Yin Zhu could clearly see that Grandma Yan was sleeping inside.
"Thank you so much."
As Yin Zhu spoke, she expressed her gratitude in sign language. Then, without waiting to see if the doctor in the white coat understood, she turned around and walked straight into room B26.
Upon hearing the noise, Grandma Yan suddenly opened her eyes, and after seeing that it was Yin Zhu, she closed her eyes again with relief.
"Aren't you afraid I'm a bad person?"
Yin Zhu was somewhat curious.
“What do I, an old woman, have to worry about? It’s you who should be worried about being dragged down by us. You young people are the real delicacies that the devils want to eat, while we are just food that has been squeezed dry.”
This was the first time Yin Zhu had ever heard Granny Yan say such discouraging things.
If we disregard her appearance and only consider her temperament and demeanor, Granny Yan in the past would have been at most around forty years old. In addition, the way she made Yin Zhu call her by her first name, and the way she spoke and her tone of voice, should be those of a young person.
Yin Zhu had always thought that Granny Yan's youthful mindset was the reason for her imposing presence. Now she realized that Granny Yan's youthful mindset was more like self-deception, and she hadn't even fooled herself. Once faced with real danger, she would immediately realize that she was actually quite old.
What about Lu Youqi and Hong Xigua?
Yin Zhu didn't think about it too much. Instead, she recalled the scene she had just witnessed and finally understood where the unease in her heart came from.
One of the rules that patients need to follow is this:
3. Maintain cleanliness in the rooms and ensure each patient has a caregiver.
Yin Zhu was accompanying Grandma Yan as a caregiver, but there was no trace of a caregiver in the man's room. If there was any difference, it was that there was a large cardboard box in his room.
Was it the cardboard box that served as the caregiver's function, or...?
Is the caregiver "stuck" in the cardboard box?
Yin Zhu recalled the strange dark marks in the gap of the box, as if some liquid with a strong bloody smell had leaked out. Immediately, a messy red and white severed limbs appeared in her mind, so she did not want to think about it anymore.
However, this brief adventure allowed Yin Zhu to gain a better understanding of the place.
Once she enters the corridor, her risk level will be much higher. Furthermore, if she mistakenly enters another ward, the other patients will be extremely wary of her.
