Naza was surprised that Yin Zhu would point this out so directly.
Seeing the prince's shocked expression, Nazar pursed his lips and tried to answer calmly, "I just got it too. How did you find out?"
"Would you believe me if I said it was a dream?"
Even at a time like this, Yin Zhu didn't forget to joke, "Okay, actually I saw it last night. You must have just awakened, so you're not quite in control yet, right? Or rather, you can't maintain that state stably, so you didn't tell us."
Nazar nodded, tacitly agreeing with Yin Zhu's guess.
She woke up the night she was rescued, and because it was so sudden, she initially felt like she was dreaming.
It was a feeling of being chosen by power, but it was too illusory to describe, like a thought that had been floating in the mortal world since ancient times, which could sometimes be touched and sometimes slipped through one's fingers.
“After you left, I secretly tried to control this power at the prince’s house, but I didn’t expect to be discovered by the other gods.”
Nazar felt somewhat guilty.
She also liked the older woman who was a few years older than her. Although she didn't know why, Nazar just felt very comfortable around her.
Furthermore, Naza felt even more guilty and uneasy because Hirano San was captured by the gods while trying to draw away the pursuers for her and the prince, fearing that something might have happened to her. As for Yin Zhu, although she had received news of Hirano San's death, she didn't intend to tell them, preferring to leave them with a lingering memory.
"This is not your fault, it is Eve's problem."
Yin Zhu comforted Naza again using that same excuse, and then revealed her plans: "Now that you've awakened, you should stabilize your abilities and wait for the Godhood Ceremony..."
Yin Zhu's eyes turned icy cold: "Let's steal that box and see what secrets it holds."
"But before that, let's leave first."
The worm checked the time on its watch.
The problems with the Hidden Pavilion have already been discovered by the higher-ups of Vina City. The rules of the current Colosseum are almost identical, with only minor changes in details, so it was only a matter of time before it was exposed.
If they stay here, they'll probably be trapped by those monsters.
The four quickly reached a consensus and left the arena. Guided by the prince, they found an abandoned villa. Rather than being abandoned, it was more accurate to say that the villa's original owner had become food for the infected; in fact, the house was quite clean.
Incited by Yin Zhu, the prince solemnly warned Eve not to harm her friend.
"If this is your wish, Eve will grant it for you."
Eve remained obedient and sensible, bowing her head as if she were a very well-behaved artificial intelligence that never acted on its own, made its own judgments, or took any extra actions.
One downside of artificial intelligence is that if it needs to be more straightforward, even a slight deviation can lead to terrible consequences if AI takes liberties with it.
After Eve explicitly agreed to the prince's request, Yin Zhu knew that there should be no further trouble in this regard.
Just in case, Yin Zhu pulled Naza over as well, pointed at her and said to Eve, "This little girl has awakened her divine form. Eve, do you know what a divine form is?"
"The Divine Image is a unique ability of gods. It is a giant human figure formed by the fusion of social consciousness and one's own power. All A-level citizens have a chance to awaken the Divine Image, and a small number of lower-level citizens with noble bloodlines may also awaken the Divine Image."
Eve was reading from the encyclopedia with a serious expression.
"I have noble blood?" Nazar was a little shocked. She never expected that she, a low-ranking citizen who was skilled in martial arts, would one day be told that she had noble blood.
Yin Zhu, however, was used to it: "It's not surprising. Poverty doesn't last three generations. After all, people who are poor to the third generation usually starve to death. Many powerful and influential people have as many children as possible, and then when they fall from grace, their children suffer together. Anyone who's still alive today must have had some remarkable ancestors."
This actually refers to the Dragon Kingdom on Earth.
In ancient China, the poor died in all sorts of ways: they were exploited and worked to death, starved to death because they couldn't grow enough food, were conscripted into the army as cannon fodder, or were killed by the rich for their pleasures...
In one dynasty in history, there was even a situation where children were not raised. This meant that children were not raised, and apart from two boys and one girl, all other children, regardless of gender, were either thrown away or drowned in a basin of water.
This seemingly inhumane behavior, given the already high infant mortality rate in ancient times, meant that having more children meant more children could survive. However, it actually reflected the social reality at the time: heavy taxes meant that ordinary people simply couldn't afford to raise children. Keeping three children might ensure their survival, while raising even one more could lead to the entire family starving to death.
As taxes became heavier, the number of children who refused to become officials would continue to decrease, and in severe cases, all but the firstborn child would be killed.
The oppression of the poor by taxes contrasts with the extravagant lifestyles of the rich; some princes might even father dozens of children. This royal family, enjoying superior resources, naturally has a higher probability of survival than the poor, which is why Yin Zhu complains that many people have ancestors who were quite remarkable.
The reason for not using "high-ranking officials and nobles" is simply that Yin Zhu felt it was too specific and perhaps not rigorous enough.
Although Nazar didn't understand Yin Zhu's meaning, he roughly understood her special status: "After I possess the Dharma Form, can I become an A-level citizen as long as I go through the Godhood Ceremony?"
"Theoretically speaking, that's true."
Eve gave an affirmative reply, confirming that it was indeed written in her database, and that the prince and Nazar would then be her new masters.
