The night never ends.
The area outside Ghost Village Middle School was shrouded in white mist, and just looking at the mist gave Kijima Suzuka a sense of danger.
Inside the dark red-walled school building, figures moved about. If this were on a normal Earth, people would just think that people were having evening self-study. But this is the ghost realm. Why would ghosts go to school?
"Didn't you say Hanako was the easiest to communicate with?"
Suzuka Kijima suddenly felt irritable and restless. She kicked the dazed cat demon hard and looked at another faceless ghost: "What danger is there here?"
"Ghost Village Middle School is mainly the territory of eight-foot adults."
The ghost answered honestly, but the answer gave Kijima Suzuka a sudden bad feeling: "What about Hanako?"
"Hanako only stays in the school toilets and doesn't come out."
"They don't fight?"
"Eight-foot-tall Lord is no match for Hanako-sama."
Now, Suzuka Kijima fully understood the root of the problem—she habitually believed that powerful demons would rule an area, but Hanako, due to her obsession, would only stay in the toilet, so the area outside the school was controlled by other demons.
What kind of personality does that eight-foot-tall man have?
"The Eight-Foot Lady likes to have ghosts play the role of students. She is very fierce and hates disobedient students. If a student angers her, she will use a spell to kill other ghosts and turn them into part of her power."
This answer is arguably the worst answer.
So now, Suzuka Kijima has to experience school life all over again.
After slightly relaxing her control over the other puppets, Kijima Suzuka saw that the other ghosts had regained consciousness, some of them looking around in shock.
"How did I get here? Isn't this Ghost Village Middle School?"
"Oh no, they've entered the school!"
"This is Lord Eight Feet's territory!"
Suzuka Kijima blended in with them, and when asked, she simply said "I don't know," thus getting away with it.
The cat looked at the others, then at Kijima Suzuka and Kappa, but didn't react much. It just licked its fur and muttered, "Looks like I can't leave without graduating."
graduate?
Suzuka Kijima never expected that the ghost school would be so proper.
However, she did not ask questions rashly, but quietly observed the other ghosts and monsters to make sure that not every ghost knew about this matter.
Sure enough, a coward asked the cat, "Can I leave after graduation?"
“Yes, let’s go to school and register first. Master Ba Chi doesn’t like unemployed people barging into her school.” Cat took the lead and led the other ghosts to the office building next to the teaching building, where everyone registered as a student.
When writing her name, Kijima Suzuka casually gave herself the pseudonym "Moe Nami".
The office staff member was an old woman with only one eye. She quickly made a student ID and handed it to Kijima Suzuka: "Mengami, this is your ID. Please keep it with you at all times. If you go missing, please come here to report it lost, and I will give you a temporary student ID."
"What are the consequences if I lose my student ID?" Suzuka Kijima asked.
"Meng Nami, your student ID is mainly for normal life at this school. Although you are still a student even without an ID, there are many places you can't go." Grandma Yiyan gave a simple answer.
Relieved to hear that her life was not in danger, Kijima Suzuka breathed a sigh of relief.
She didn't control the monsters to force their way in, largely because she wasn't sure just how strong the Eight-Foot Master was. It would be good to let these monster puppets scout ahead for her.
If she maintained control of the puppet, the other demons would easily discover that she was the core of this group of monsters, making her vulnerable to being surrounded and attacked. Now that Kijima Suzuka has broken up the group, she is less conspicuous among them.
If things get really dangerous, she can always regain control of the monsters to shield herself from harm.
After leaving the office, Kijima Suzuka glanced at her student ID: Class C, Number 13. Most of the other ghosts who had come in with her had also been assigned to Class C, so her side still had the upper hand.
With this in mind, Kijima Suzuka was no longer afraid.
With the cat demon there, she didn't dare to stand out too much. So, led by the cat demon, Kijima Suzuka and the other ghosts arrived at the school building.
Unlike residential buildings, school buildings are typically three to four meters high per floor.
If the man of eight feet tall is indeed as his name suggests, that is, about 2.6 meters tall, it is no wonder that he would choose a school as his base, since ordinary residential buildings are much shorter.
Only in places like schools, in order to make them bright and spacious, are the floors exceptionally high.
In the lobby on the first floor of the teaching building, there is a copy of "Ghost Village Middle School Rules". It is more like it is written with red paint than blood. Every word is so red that it is eye-catching as soon as you enter.
Kijima Suzuka pursed her lips and stepped forward to carefully examine the rules:
[Ghost Village Middle School Rules]
[1. The principal of Ghost Village Middle School is an eight-foot-tall man; you must greet him when you see him.]
2. Please do not leave the school before graduation.
3. Our school promotes a joyful learning environment, but students are expected to complete at least four lessons daily. Please maintain a high level of enthusiasm for learning.
4. You will have one test opportunity each day; passing this test will allow you to complete one stage of your learning.
5. Upon completion of the four stages of study, you will be given a graduation exam. Passing the exam will result in graduation, while failure will be punished.
6. If you fail the graduation exam three times in a row, you will be held back a year.
7. Please get along well with your teachers and classmates.
"Nekomata, do you know what the punishment is for the graduation exam?" Kijima Suzuka asked, staring at the rules. For some reason, she had a bad feeling about it.
The cat thought for a moment and answered confidently, "It won't die."
The demon next to him wanted to laugh but dared not. After all, although the cat demon looked gentle, it was actually a powerful demon. If it angered the cat demon, it would be no match for it.
Kijima Suzuka rolled her eyes, thinking she had talked a pointless game, and headed straight for Class C's classroom.
Class C was nearly empty, and there was no teacher giving a lesson. A three-eyed monster was talking to another monster whose movements looked very strange. When they saw Kijima Suzuka enter, the two of them merely glanced in the direction of the door before quickly resuming their card game.
Each table had a number on it, and Kijima Suzuka quickly found her seat.
As soon as she sat down, she heard a rustling sound coming from her desk drawer, which sounded particularly eerie. Kijima Suzuka instinctively stood up and quickly moved away from the desk.
However, the sound disappeared when she stood up.
Kijima Suzuka took a deep breath, still too afraid to look for herself, so she casually controlled another ghost that had entered the classroom to help her check what was in her desk drawer.
The ghost stiffly walked to Kijima Suzuka's seat, bent down, and reached inside. It seemed to touch something, but just as it was about to pull it out, it stopped abruptly, as if it had encountered something. The next second, it was pulled into the desk drawer, its body being forcibly compressed, making a clattering sound throughout the classroom.
