A cat, a kappa, and a little girl sat around the table, eating the food on it. Each of them had a wandering gaze and different thoughts.
Through numerous instances, Kenji Yamamoto vaguely sensed an unspeakable need.
He will provide the Chosen One with a barely safe start, give the Chosen One a newcomer identity, and explain that the purpose of the Unspeakable Rules of the Strange Game held on Earth is definitely not just to destroy Earth.
While it's uncertain whether the Unspeakable should adhere to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, such a grand undertaking couldn't possibly be purely for fun. If the Unspeakable were an ancient god like those in the Cthulhu Mythos, even an unintentional glance would drive someone mad, and Earth would have long since perished; however, based on the Cyber Mythology instance, Kenji Yamamoto is quite certain that even He would need to meet certain requirements to devour Earth.
Or rather, a certain standard.
The fact that the Unspeakable Ones can force the Blue Star to play by the rules, but cannot forcibly devour the Blue Star, suggests that they themselves may also be bound by rules.
From the most basic needs perspective, if the Unspeakable were merely physiological needs, such as being fed and clothed, then the difficulty of the dungeon would never have been so low; the Unspeakable would have tried every means to kill Blue Star from the very beginning.
If it's for reproductive needs... there must be an unspeakable reproductive barrier between humans and animals.
Influenced by his own cultural environment, Kenji Yamamoto couldn't help but think of the many non-human doujinshi and seriously suspected that if it really was a reproductive need, it was unspeakable. If he asked the authorities on Earth, there would definitely be many perverts willing to participate in some close-range third-kind contact.
If it's about seeking safety and respect, then the fact that He creates so many frightening situations makes it seem like humans are less secure than the unspeakable itself. Kenji Yamamoto believes this is the real reason why humanity feels insecure.
Of course, we can't say for sure. Perhaps by doing this, He can obtain something from humanity that we humans ourselves cannot discover, to strengthen Himself, or to face other disasters, but that's beyond Kenji Yamamoto's control.
Then it would become a matter of survival of the fittest in nature again.
If the observation is driven by curiosity, or if it's simply about enjoying the process of manipulating lower-dimensional beings, these are rather bad situations for Earth. This means that once the unspeakable loses interest, it could very well lead to the destruction of Earth.
Fortunately, this possibility is also unlikely, otherwise Sin City would not have put up an effective resistance in the first place.
Although their resistance fell short and they ultimately became a playground for ghost stories, they provided Earth with a significant clue, proving that humans can also use the power of rules to protect themselves, provided that humans have a way to obtain that power.
One thing is worth noting: the chosen ones among all the nations of Earth are only humans, and among humans, only those with relatively high intelligence are selected, indicating that the Unspeakable has absolutely no interest in non-intelligent beings. The existence of non-human chosen ones in the two major instances, "Cyber Mythology" and "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons," further confirms Yamamoto Kenji's conjecture.
—What is sought in words is intelligent beings, not just humans.
Is it an unspeakable lack of wisdom?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Those rules that had the Chosen Ones so completely undermined couldn't have been created by someone without a brain.
With a blank expression, Yamamoto Kenji shoveled food into his mouth in front of the cat demon and concluded:
The Unspeakable Rules of the Strange World is a highly purposeful conspiracy targeting intelligent beings; moreover, it is suspected of inciting internal strife among humans to create chaos and recruiting some humans as its own race—this was revealed by the head of Sin City.
The Unspeakable is also bound by rules and cannot directly harm the Blue Star; it can only indirectly erode the Blue Star through the game of rule-based supernatural tales.
The unspeakable forces behind this instance are clearly targeting the Sakura Kingdom, so sacrificing oneself for the Sakura Kingdom is pointless. The only way to survive is to find a way to join the unspeakable forces, achieve a perfect clear, and attract their attention.
Seeing that Yamamoto Kenji was staring blankly like an idiot, the cat didn't care much: "After this meal, I'm going to the Yuki-onna's territory. You stay home and take good care of the house with the Kappa."
"Mmm." Kenji Yamamoto nodded reservedly.
Asking a grown man to dress up as a little girl is really asking too much of him. To avoid arousing suspicion from Nekomata, Kenji Yamamoto had no choice but to cultivate the persona of a quiet, withdrawn child, avoiding saying too much and making mistakes.
Kenji Yamamoto knew how to successfully clear the Snow Woman's Domain, but he didn't want to remind Nekomata.
In Kenji Yamamoto's mind, the cat was merely a guiding NPC; she had long since been swallowed up by the unspeakable along with the entire spirit orb. The difference between a movable NPC becoming an immovable ice sculpture is essentially minimal.
"You don't have many friends, so it's best to bring them along. They might be of some help." There was a hint of worry in the kappa's eyes, but his words were not entirely sincere.
The cat nodded in agreement while glancing at Kenji Yamamoto.
If it were Yin Zhu, she would probably have gotten used to his way of speaking by now.
Now, Kenji Yamamoto is sitting here, completely ignoring the dialogue, his mind blank, not listening to a single word.
"Sakura-chan, although you haven't remembered your name yet, sometimes it's good to forget your past, otherwise it will only add a lot of trouble." The cat muttered as if giving a last message, "If one day you are unfortunately captured and offered to Shuten-dōji, remember, don't stay until the seventh day. Try to find Lady Tamamo-no-Mae. She should have a way to take you away."
"...Huh? Oh."
Kenji Yamamoto wasn't listening at all. After all, he hadn't used the name "Sakura-chan" for more than a few days, and it was a female name, making it difficult for him to react in time. Not to mention that most of the dialogue was content he had repeatedly listened to before entering the dungeon.
