Cheng Zhu was caught off guard by Alice's directness and didn't react for a moment: "Wh...what?"
"We need to find a way to get out of here."
Alice repeated what she had just said. With a wave of her hand, an LCD screen appeared in mid-air, displaying a top-down view of a region. Judging from the labels on the different areas, this was the floor plan of the North Campus of Slote High School.
Alice snapped her fingers, and a building marked "Library" appeared on the map.
"Slot High School doesn't have a particularly strict curriculum for students. On the contrary, it emphasizes a joyful learning experience and teaching students how to get along with others, so the curriculum isn't too demanding. Tomorrow, let's go to the library together to choose our courses, and then decide on our next steps."
This is what Alice said to Mary before, and she is just repeating it here.
“The library…” Just hearing the name, Cheng Zhu seemed to see a lot of rules, and she could guess one of them right now: “Talking is generally not allowed in this kind of place, so you have to keep quiet.”
"...We can send messages."
Alice glared at Cheng Zhu with exasperation. Even the technology of Future Star had reached the point of having mobile phones, let alone the fact that this world itself could send messages remotely.
However, when it comes to sending messages, Alice remembered something: "But just in case, we'd better not send messages too far apart. Only when everyone is in the same area will the content of the message be less likely to be disturbed."
How did you know?
This was Cheng Zhu's first reaction.
After all, Alice knows far too much. If she didn't clearly favor humanity, Cheng Zhu might even suspect that she had been possessed by something supernatural.
However, people always tend to make excuses for what they don't understand. Cheng Zhu immediately thought of Alice's identity. As a well-known noble lady, she might have some intelligence sources that he, a suburban immigrant, was unaware of. He quickly changed his tune to salvage the situation: "If the pollution can tamper with the content of private messages, then that might be a bit troublesome."
Taking back that statement directly would seem too deliberate, so Cheng Zhu chose to change the subject, as if that statement was just an unimportant issue.
“That’s true. I expect the rules downstairs will be updated soon. This is information sent to me from home, and it was encrypted when it was sent. It’s indeed a very tricky problem.” Alice explained with a smile, completely unconcerned by Cheng Zhu’s doubts.
After the two chatted about the details for a while, Alice suddenly stopped talking and quickly said to Chengzhu, "Let's go out first. We can't talk about these things outside."
Then I quickly ended the study space.
The fairy-tale scene gradually dissolved, and Cheng Zhu knew why they had left. The reason was simple: Mary outside had crushed the yellow-skinned rat.
"What's wrong?"
Alice took her electronic pet with a pained expression. The moment her fingertips touched it, the yellow mouse puffed up again, nimbly scrambled under the bed, and disappeared without a trace.
“I heard the sound of water outside the door just now, but I received a message from the dormitory manager saying that the anomaly in room 402 has been cleared.” Mary found this very strange. This contradictory text message was probably trying to lure her into opening the door so that everyone in the dormitory could be caught.
"It shouldn't be that bad, right?" Alice frowned, walked to the bedroom door, turned her back to the two people, and looked down at the message she received: "Location is correct, the dormitory manager said there is no problem, so it's resolved. Let's go out."
14. Please trust the dormitory manager; they will do their best to help you.
Since that's what the rules say, then we should believe the rules.
To convince Mary of her judgment, Alice stood at the front of the group and opened the bedroom door herself.
There was nothing outside the door.
"See? I told you there wouldn't be any problems." Alice turned around, put her hands on her hips, and smiled confidently at the two people in the room.
However, as Alice turned around, Cheng Zhu saw the normal environment behind her begin to change, gradually transforming from an ordinary dormitory into a dilapidated laboratory. A monstrous, unrecognizable tumor-like creature approached Alice, seemingly wanting to tear her apart.
"Watch out behind you!" Mary shouted first, making Alice scratch her head in confusion: "What's behind me?"
The lab behind her suddenly flickered and scrambled like gibberish before the lumpy monster could get close to Alice, before finally returning to its original dormitory appearance—this was what Alice saw when she turned around again: "It's normal, isn't it?"
Chengzhu and Mary exchanged a glance, unsure of what to say.
Judging from the other person's slightly shocked expression, they had also seen that scene, but Alice was completely unaware of it, whether by luck or some other reason.
"Come out, the living room is safe."
When Cheng Zhu turned around, he found that there was no one at the door anymore, and Alice had already started to come downstairs.
Staying hidden in the bedroom all the time wasn't a good idea, so Chengzhu thought for a moment and then bravely stepped out of the room. Seeing that Chengzhu was also safe and sound, Mary finally decided to follow the two of them.
Alice was in the hall looking at the rules for the next part of the scroll on the screen, and her expression was clearly not good.
"The rules have changed?"
Cheng Zhu quickly realized a terrible situation and rushed to Alice's side, only to see a new rule:
[15. When sending messages to people in different areas of the school, the content may be corrupted or altered; please judge the authenticity yourself.]
16. Students shall not spend more than twelve hours in their bedrooms each day.
