Chapter 41 My First Job

No sunlight streamed through the glass into the room, and no birds chirped and sang in the branches.

In this dark and gloomy environment, Yin Zhu woke up naturally once again. With her room key and the mirror ghost, she left room 404, went up to the twelfth floor for breakfast, and then returned to the lobby on the first floor to check out.

"You have one more day to stay."

The receptionist politely reminded her, but Yin Zhu was not tempted by his strange good looks. She simply nodded firmly and said, "I have a new place to stay, so I don't need to."

"Would you like me to inform your fellow travelers?"

"No."

After rejecting him for the second time, Yin Zhu clearly noticed a hint of disappointment and regret in his expression, and sneered inwardly: I knew you were trying to set me up here.

She hadn't forgotten the third rule of the temporary apartment:

The staff wore uniform white waiter uniforms and name tags, but aside from guiding you on the first day, you would expect to receive a tip for any further assistance.

On her very first day here, Yin Zhu noticed this place after reading the rules. She could chat with the staff without receiving any payment, but the rules stated that "troublesome" staff members needed to be tipped, not "asking staff members to show you the way" required a tip. In other words, asking them to do things in any sense probably fell under the category of "troublesome".

I was about to leave, and they still tried to trick me!

Yin Zhu cursed him inwardly for his treachery.

Without showing any emotion, Yin Zhu said goodbye to the receptionist and walked towards the place she had chosen, map in hand.

After crossing two intersections on the main road and walking about 400 meters, Yin Zhu finally saw a small supermarket that was about two stories high. Although it was brightly lit, it was unusually not as dilapidated as the surrounding area. Instead, it was so new that it seemed out of place with the environment.

On the map, this supermarket is located to the west of the No. 1 Middle School, separated from the school's laboratory building by only one wall.

Before entering, Yin Zhu glanced up and saw a paper sign above the main entrance: "Tongfu Inn." Frankly, she felt the name was more suited to a traditional Chinese-style building than this standard, clean-cut Western-style villa.

A job advertisement was posted on the glass door of the supermarket, with very simple requirements:

After working for a week, you can take any item from the store as your wages.

Because she had no idea about the prices in Sin City, Yin Zhu immediately asked Jing Gui, "Do you think this price is reasonable? You can take any item as your salary after working for a week."

"If you get something valuable, it's a good deal."

Jinggui's answer was ambiguous.

However, this answer confirmed one thing for Yin Zhu: there must be something in this supermarket that is very valuable to Sin City, which is why even Jing Gui said so.

As soon as Yin Zhu pushed open the glass door, she heard a familiar voice.

Welcome!

Yin Zhu was slightly taken aback, not expecting to run into someone familiar while casually applying for a job: "Xiao Chen? You work here too?"

"Yes, you can only leave after working a full week."

Chen Lvdou answered dejectedly.

He was wearing a neat supermarket uniform, with the white shirt tucked neatly into his black suit pants. He looked much more handsome, giving the impression that clothes make the man.

Yin Zhu looked around the room but didn't see anyone else. A look of confusion appeared on her face: "Where's Sheng Hui? Haven't you all been together lately?"

"Brother Hui, he works the night shift and is sleeping at home right now."

Chen Lvdou answered generously, without any intention of hiding anything.

Yin Zhu caught the key point: "So you're living together now? Which neighborhood do you live in?" She had looked at several neighborhoods on the map, but those places were either too close to dangerous areas or had inconvenient surrounding facilities. After weighing the pros and cons, Yin Zhu finally chose Jiayuan Neighborhood.

As soon as she asked the question, Yin Zhu noticed the hesitation on his face and immediately smiled confidently: "I live in Jiayuan Community." Indeed, it's polite to introduce yourself before asking someone.

Yin Zhu had no idea that her smile was like a devil's smile in Chen Lvdou's eyes.

He shuddered suddenly, then looked around warily. After confirming that no guests were coming, he whispered to Yin Zhu, "We live in Yuelai Community... Do you know that your community has a manager?"

"A supervisor? There isn't one, is there?" Yin Zhu knew that her prank had succeeded.

"You wouldn't believe it, someone saw the community's rules of conduct at the property management office... I heard there are cleaners in blue uniforms late at night... Be careful when you go back."

If the first half of the sentence was within Yin Zhu's expectations, the second half made her frown slightly: "A cleaner?"

Yin Zhu knew better than anyone who wrote the rules of Jiayuan Community, and therefore knew even more clearly that they were purely fictitious rules with no possibility of becoming reality. Her talent lay in interpreting rules, but not in creating them. In reality… Yin Zhu meant that in a world of rules, it was impossible for bizarre situations to actually correspond to the rules.

If we disregard the possibility of the rules coming true, then the chances are much slimmer.

The most likely explanation is that someone else is doing the same thing, playing tricks and using the rules they wrote to their advantage, making the prank even more realistic.

In other words, this person shares the same starting point as you to some extent.

Thinking of this, Yin Zhu's expression grew even worse.

Damn it! She was planning to get a blue outfit to wander around the Jiayuan residential area at night and scare people, but someone beat her to it!
