Chapter 167 The Second Dream

Similar cities, similar monsters.

Similar chases and escapes.

Yin Zhu had another dream.

This dream has the exact same scene and characters as the previous nightmare, seemingly a sequel to the previous dream, or a classic remake of that dream.

When Yin Zhu woke up, her expression was very complicated. She sat on the bed with a blank look in her eyes, in a dazed and confused state, because she found it hard to determine whether the dream was a nightmare and wondered why she had such a dream.

The first half of the dream was exactly the same as the last one.

But in the latter half, Yin Zhu was exhausted from running, and her anger grew with each step: Why did she run away? What right did it have to chase her? What had she done wrong? She hadn't done anything wrong!

In her dream, Yin Zhu suddenly turned around, used the wall to make a 360-degree turn, and kicked the huge thing behind her.

The thing was huge, giving Yin Zhu an unparalleled sense of oppression, which was why she kept running away. But with Yin Zhu's kick, the monster was sent flying, crashing into the surrounding buildings and knocking down several of them.

Am I that strong?

Yin Zhu blinked, a little puzzled.

With great effort, Yin Zhu opened her eyes after closing them, and immediately woke up. The blinking motion was so clearly imprinted in her mind that it abruptly woke her up.

"...Hmm." Yin Zhu glanced at the time displayed on her phone; it was only four in the morning. She closed her eyes and lay back down. "What kind of nonsense is this..." Yin Zhu had a hard time figuring out what she had dreamed about. The first half was a complete horror and disaster movie, but the second half took a sudden turn and became a wish-fulfillment fantasy.

It's still early, I can sleep a little longer.

Yin Zhu doesn't know how to interpret dreams, and she certainly wouldn't continue to ponder a dream that has little to do with reality when her eyes are already tired.

She slept very well; her head barely touched the pillow before she fell back asleep.

This little incident startled the viewers who stayed up late to watch the live stream. Most of the people who were still awake at this hour were doing other things while watching the live stream. Suddenly, they heard a creaking sound – the sound of someone sitting up from a wooden bed. They quickly switched the screen to the ghost story live stream.

However, Yin Zhu, who suddenly sat up from her dream, looked confused, then quickly lay back down and immediately fell asleep again, without any surprise.

"What's with all this jump scare?"

"Oh my god, that scared me half to death in the middle of the night!"

"Why is someone still awake at night?"

During the live stream, a viewer sent three consecutive comments, but at that moment, most viewers were either playing games with their friends, staying up late reading novels, or working late into the night, so basically no one paid any attention to him.

This is the time when 90% of the audience is asleep, which is precisely the time with the lowest activity level.

The think tank breathed a sigh of relief after discovering that Yin Zhu was just having nightmares; often, no news is the best news.

"Is Yin Zhu under a lot of pressure?"

At this time, the think tank was in a phase of taking turns to rest. Although they knew that Yin Zhu was safe in the nursing home and would most likely not encounter any danger while sleeping, the think tank still kept at least half of its members awake on duty to avoid any unexpected dangers.

People need rest, even think tank members need to sleep, but the Chosen Ones can't be left unsupervised; there always have to be a few who are alert.

In reality, the think tank has many departments, including one responsible for monitoring the Chosen Ones in various countries. After all, there are still hundreds of countries alive, and the think tank's manpower alone cannot keep track of them all. Moreover, the think tank's main task is to focus on its own Chosen Ones, making it difficult to spend time monitoring all live streams. Therefore, this Chosen One monitoring department reports directly to Zhang Baye of Group A and Li Tailan of Group B, submitting their findings upwards for further processing and recording.

Most of the team members have additional "part-time jobs." Anzhi, as the sole leader of the two groups, is responsible for liaising with think tanks from various countries, while the ten members of each group have additional tasks.

Yu Qi and Zhang Mingyu mainly focus on analyzing the mental health of the chosen ones. When Yin Zhu returns to Blue Star, if she needs psychological counseling, the two of them will also arrange related matters for her.

Tong Xinyan from Group B corresponds to Su Jinyun from Group A. Within the think tank, she mainly provides perspectives on interpersonal relationships and social interactions. After all, the original inhabitants of the supernatural world are "alive." If they are treated as game NPCs with pre-arranged data, serious mishaps may occur in their interactions.

Saint Radiance is a negative example. Relying on his powerful abilities, he indiscriminately killed those in charge, and was directly targeted and killed by the entire Sin City.

As Yin Zhu said, each instance presents a fantastical world that can be played out interactively. Although there is a relatively fixed storyline, the characters' reactions will be completely different as the chosen ones interact more deeply.

When the chosen ones leave a place, the people there will still have their own lives and make some changes.

"The copy is alive."

This is the consensus of think tanks from various countries on Earth.

This is precisely what distinguishes think tanks from genuine game strategy teams. They can only extract the elements that allow the chosen one to pass the game by observing the chosen one's behavior, but they cannot truly interfere with the chosen one's experience.

Even the same sentence can have different effects in the instance if the chosen one's attitude and tone are different.

For example, Yin Zhu's "leading" behavior at the beginning of the "Grand Theft Auto" instance was later imitated by other chosen ones from other countries who had the opportunity to watch the live stream. However, because he did not have enough "heinous crimes" to suppress the other new citizens, and his arrogant attitude was not natural enough, no one was willing to listen to him in the end.
