"Someone, quickly gather all the cardinals!" Rocco III shouted.
The servant outside the door was taken aback when he heard Rocco III's words, and then immediately went to relay them.
The attendant was surprised to notice that Rocco III's voice had undergone a significant change, becoming much more powerful and resonant.
This is completely inconsistent with Rocco III's advanced age.
However, Rocco III's prestige left the attendant no room for thought, and he went directly to relay the order.
Immediately, the Pope and the various cardinals of the Papacy hurriedly put on their clothes and rushed toward Rocco III's bedroom.
It is important to know that Rocco III, as the previous pope, cultivated many talents for the papacy, and even the current pope is one of Rocco III's disciples.
A cardinal noticed an archbishop beside him and couldn't help but ask a question.
"Don, why is the teacher summoning us in such a hurry?"
Don lowered his head and thought for a while, then sighed and said.
"Perhaps the teacher has already felt the Lord's call and is going to heaven to be with the Lord."
His tone was filled with sorrow.
The cardinal who had asked the question remained silent, for he knew that Rocco III had lived for over a hundred years and was far too old.
A legendary figure who has lived from the war-torn era to the present day.
Everyone felt grief at the impending passing of this legendary figure.
Because the current state of the religion is still at its peak, it was entirely created by this legendary old man.
Some cardinals even suspected that this legend was hiding a powerful clerical force.
The reason he's summoning everyone now is probably to settle his affairs after his death and hand over his hidden power.
The group arrived outside Rocco III's palace, but instead of rushing in, they waited outside for the servants to summon them.
After a short while, the attendant said respectfully.
"Your Holiness the Pope, and Your Excellencies, His Holiness Rocco summons you."
Everyone nodded and hurriedly ran into the palace.
The palace was enormous, but a huge gauze curtain blocked everyone's view.
Rocco III lay behind the gauze curtain.
King Rocco III looked at the high-ranking members of the clergy who had rushed in and couldn't help but let out a long sigh.
These are all talented individuals discovered during Rocco III's century of reign.
They were able to help the Church become very powerful, but their loyalty to the Lord could not earn Rocco III's trust.
Because at that time Rocco III knew that the influence of the Church would gradually weaken in the future.
However, Rocco III was unwilling to accept the decline of the Church, so he selected a group of outstanding and faithful individuals from among the many believers and formed the Church as it is today.
Rocco III knew that only talented people could ensure the continued strength of the Church in the future.
As for faith, as long as the religion exists, then they have faith.
Even so, Rocco III still placed the most loyal people to the Lord in the important departments of the Church.
For example, the contemporary pope, the head of the arbitration body, and the grandmaster of the Knights of Honour. These important positions are held by people who are extremely loyal to the Lord.
"Ahem, I am returning to the Lord's embrace," Rocco III said, feigning weakness.
Immediately, everyone knelt down in sorrow.
Rocco III, however, did not know whether these people were genuinely grieving or simply putting on an act.
Previously, Rocco III might not have been able to recognize him, but now Rocco III has plenty of time.
Rocco III now has plenty of time to outmaneuver these scheming men.
However, not now. Rocco III wanted to eliminate them quietly, without causing turmoil throughout the church.
“Do not grieve, my children,” Rocco III said kindly.
"Teacher, we can't bear to part with you," the Pope said, his eyes red.
Pope Rocco III was very satisfied with him; he was capable and had faith. However, the only thing that displeased Rocco III was that the pope was too merciful.
This pope is easily swayed by emotions and tends to show leniency towards certain individuals.
This was Rocco III's only complaint, yet also his greatest satisfaction.
"Cough cough, my time is running out. I have felt the Lord's call. You must all remember what I am about to say," Rocco III said weakly.
“Teacher, we will always listen,” the Pope said sadly.
"Do you know why our religion has been able to survive through the long river of history?" Rocco III asked.
"Please answer this question, teacher," everyone said in unison.
At that moment, Rocco III seemed to return to the time when he was young and strong, educating these people.
“That’s because my teachings contain true supernatural power,” Rocco III said.
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the room was filled with surprise and disbelief.
"However, this force is currently very weak. But it is also the trump card that allows us to confront various countries head-on," Rocco III said again.
Suddenly, everyone realized that their teacher was a cunning old fox who had only revealed the truth to them now.
"Ahem, my time is running out. I know there are quite a few ambitious people among you," Rocco III said after a few coughs.
"The students dare not." Everyone immediately lowered their heads in fear.
"Ahem, don't be alarmed. I've intentionally allowed your ambitions to flourish. Only those with the corresponding abilities can possess the corresponding power. I only have one last favor to ask of you," Rocco III said weakly.
"Please explain, teacher," everyone said, bowing their heads.
"Whatever you do for your own ambitions, you must consider the consequences," Rocco III said in a pleading tone.
Everyone was stunned, because this was the only time they had ever heard Rocco III speak in a pleading tone since they met him.
However, a small number of people were secretly pleased, because this meant that Rocco III was truly on the verge of collapse.
The once invincible Rocco III finally yielded. Many ambitious figures remarked with a sigh.
"As you command," they all said in unison.
“Ahem, I know you are very curious about the extraordinary. But you are not qualified to know. Only the Pope, the Director of the Presidential Office, and the Grand Master of the Knights are qualified to know. So the three of you stay, and the rest of you may leave,” said Rocco III.
Immediately, everyone present felt unwilling, but after exchanging glances, they obediently withdrew.
After all, Rocco III did not die.
With red eyes, the three knelt on the ground, looking at the gauze curtain with grief.
Looking at these three people, Rocco III was filled with satisfaction.
These three individuals were the talents that Rocco III had nurtured throughout his life.
