"You messed it up?! You fucking say you messed it up?!" He Shuisai grabbed Han Xiaodong by the collar. "You dug up someone's grave here and messed it up! Now we're all going to die here!"
"Don't get so worked up." Han Xiaodong pushed He Shuisai away and straightened his collar. "It's just a minor failure in an experiment, it's perfectly normal."
"Then as an apology, I'll let you and your little brother reunite."
Reversing the Heavenly Gang!
Han Xiaodong vanished instantly, and Akabane Tsukasa, who was originally planning to hide in a corner, appeared next to He Shuisaiya with a bewildered expression.
"What?!"
"Don't just stand there!" He Shui Sai Ya grabbed Akabane Tsukasa's shoulder as he looked at the white bone claws scattered on the ground. "Quickly use your abilities to drive them away!"
"I want to drive them away too! I've already used up all my talent uses! You can revive, but I can only wait to die!"
"Resurrect my ass! I've already used up all my resurrections!"
The two looked at each other, and an awkward silence filled the air.
The bone claw pierced Hessaya's skin, and blood seeped into the ground along the white bones!
Like a trigger, the bone claws swarmed forward and tore the two to pieces!
[The Japanese ghost story teller He Shui Sai Ya has died...]
[The Japanese ghost story teller, Akabane Tsukasa, has died...]
"That's great, these two even walk together."
Jiang Ran walked along the fields for a while and came to a huge mansion.
Compared to the other buildings, although they were all somewhat dilapidated, the building in front of us was much more luxurious, not only in terms of its size but also in its decoration, which was completely out of place with the other houses.
Pushing open the gate of the mansion, Jiang Ran walked in, and what came into view was a corpse on the ground.
"Wait a minute, this doesn't seem to be an NPC from a ghost story world, but a ghost story master!"
Jiang Ran turned him over. He couldn't remember the person's name, only that he seemed to be an A-level ghost storyteller from the Iron Tower Country.
His body had its eyes wide open, as if it had suffered a great shock before dying.
"Was he killed by the scarecrow because he was afraid?"
"No, I'm afraid not. He wasn't beheaded, and there were no wounds on his body."
This also indicates that there are other dangers in the house!
Jiang Ran turned around and noticed a tattered notice posted behind the door.
[Rule Nine: Do not enter the property without a valid reason, otherwise the guards will drive you away.]
[Rule Ten: The patriarch has always believed in ghosts and spirits and has invited immortals from all over the world to discuss the Dao. If there are any masters of immortal arts, please inform the patriarch before meeting him. If he can impart the Dao to you, the patriarch will reward you handsomely.]
[Rule Eleven: Master Zha Pian, the leader of the Ascension Sect, resides in the Ascension Room. He is a distinguished guest of the family head. Please do not disturb him, otherwise the family head will expel you.]
[Rule Twelve: No one may enter Miss Ren Xiaodie's room before the wedding ceremony.]
Next to this notice, there is another notice that looks a bit newer.
[Rule Thirteen: Everyone has moved out, and the residence is now sealed off. No one is allowed to enter, lest the ominous spirits within be disturbed. When you see this sentence, do not hesitate, leave immediately.]
[Rule Fourteen: If you insist on staying in the courtyard, please remember that the plague is not scary, and you do not need to worry about being infected. However, when you feel something around you, please believe that it is real, and you should not disturb it. You should also not enter certain rooms at will.]
Rule Fifteen: There cannot be any corpses in the courtyard.
[Rule Sixteen: If you witness something that should be invisible, do not act rashly, do not lose your composure, and do not leave. Most importantly, never let this being know that you are "dead."]
Both notices were directed at the residence, but their contents were quite different. Based on the age of the two notices, Jiang Ran could deduce that the first notice was posted before the plague and the second notice was posted after the plague.
"The guard, the head of the family, Master Zha Pian, Ren Xiaodie..."
In the current timeline, all the characters mentioned in the first four rules are long dead. So what is the point of these four rules?
Is Jiang Ran going to do something with them, who have become "beings that should not be seen"?
"Leaving is out of the question. Come on, Gwen, let's go see what kind of monsters and demons roam this mansion!"
“But doesn’t the rule say you need a legitimate reason?” Gwen looked up at Jiang Ran. “Aren’t you afraid that some kind of guard will crawl out of the ground and mess with you?”
“A legitimate reason? Of course I have one!” Jiang Ran pulled out the invitation and waved it in front of Gwen. “I received a wedding invitation, so I came.”
"Um... it would be pretty scary if they actually crawled out of the ground to greet you."
"If that's the case, I'll have to pry information out of them."
Weeds and cobwebs covered the entire courtyard, and the two could only discern its former glory from the broken bricks and tiles.
A gust of wind blew by, and Gwen shivered!
"Hey! I think... I think something just touched me!"
"It's normal, just pretend you weren't touched."
"How could I possibly think of it as... Ah! That thing seems to have touched my face again!"
Jiang Ran also noticed something around him, but it was harmless for the time being, and he didn't intend to waste his time on it.
Walking through the stone path overgrown with weeds, Jiang Ran entered the main house of the courtyard.
Upon entering the main hall, one sees an exaggerated portrait of an immortal hanging on the wall, with spilled incense ash on the table below.
A gentle breeze blew by, and the door closed again.
This time, however, no candles were lit, and Jiang Ran could only grope his way forward in complete darkness.
"Gwen, is there anything in this room that can be used to start a fire?"
There's a box of matches in the drawer under the table, but I don't know if it can be lit.
Following Gwen's directions, Jiang Ran pulled out a box of matches. Fortunately, the matches could be lit, providing a meager amount of light.
"No, the matches will run out soon, we need to find something else."
Jiang Ran continued rummaging through the drawer and thankfully found a half-burnt candle that was still usable.
As the candlelight flickered, Jiang Ran looked up at the painting on the wall, only to find that the portrait, which had previously kept its eyes closed, had opened them at some point, its invisible gaze fixed intently on Jiang Ran.
"Playing tricks and deception."
Jiang Ran raised the candle in his hand high, and the flames instantly covered the portrait, burning it to ashes.
"All the fear stems from insufficient firepower."
Jiang Ran twirled the pistol in his other hand.
