Chapter 330 Blood Moon

Unlike the research lab on the third floor, the research lab on the first floor was locked. Fortunately, Jiang Ran had the key she got from the man and was able to open the door smoothly.

Moonlight streamed through the window into the research and development room, where rows of culture tanks stood. Jiang Ran continued walking in. He had thought that using babies for experiments in the research and development room on the third floor was enough, but he didn't expect that they were actually using embryos for research and development here!

They wanted to genetically alter these embryos that were not yet fully developed, but no one knows what these embryos will eventually grow into.

A tube extended from the inside of the culture tank and connected to a huge instrument. Jiang Ran noticed that there seemed to be a forgotten notebook at the bottom of the instrument.

Everything is moving in a positive direction!

Perhaps a new human race will be born under my watchful eye! This is truly something to be proud of; compared to this research, even the Nobel Prize pales in comparison! I will become a driving force in the progress of human civilization!

Wait, why are they telling me not to start the final step of the research yet? Why are their people leaving? We've already reached the final step!

I don't understand their actions. If I just pressed that button, whether I succeeded or failed, my efforts would at least yield a result! But they want me to obey their orders and leave first? No, how can that be!

This experiment must be conducted by me!

The notes end here, and it seems the owner of the notes did not complete the final step he mentioned.

However, the research here didn't end due to any external intervention; rather, did the organization behind the scenes withdraw on its own? What, then, was their purpose?

As the author of the notes said, research on new humans can basically be declared a success as long as a breakthrough is made in the embryonic genes, and if it fails, the experiment can be repeated. Why did they stop research and development at this stage?

"Could it be... that the real target of the person behind this isn't the New Humans?"

Jiang Ran reached for the red button in the center of the instrument, only to find that the button was locked and could not be pressed at all.

With the help of the moonlight, Jiang Ran could see that the tiles on the floor of the entire research and development room seemed to be engraved with strange patterns, which, when connected together, seemed to form a blood-red circular pattern!

Just then, something was thrown in through the window!

"who?!"

Gwen manipulated the threads again, and a few seconds later retrieved a drone. It seemed that the other side had learned its lesson and was no longer planning to send any real people.

The object thrown on the ground was a walkie-talkie.

"Buzz—can you hear me, sir?"

Jiang Ran looked out the window: "And who are you? If you want to talk, why hide it?"

"Haha, you're playing a big joke on me. Would I dare to show my face in front of you? I initially thought you were on Dr. Yang's side, but thinking about it, if they have such strong fighting power, there's no need for them to hide."

"I deeply misunderstood what happened before. Perhaps we can become friends."

“Let’s be friends—” Jiang Ran smiled slightly and sat down on the chair next to him. “I really enjoy making friends, especially friends like you whose background is unclear.”

"But friend, what exactly do you want to do? Why don't you tell me?"

"You have such a powerful fighter by your side, she can easily defeat any of the cyborgs I have researched. It is truly beautiful and intoxicating, but my friend, you have failed to use this power for good!"

"Oh? You have a problem with me?"

"No, no, no! How could I dare? I'm just a little disappointed."

"Since ancient times, human conflicts have been constant, contradictions have never disappeared, and peace has never truly arrived. But if we just take the time to think about it, we will find the origin of the contradictions!"

"That is humanity itself! As long as humanity exists in this world, the entire world will never be at peace!"

A person with such a belief would never conduct experiments on "new humans," or even if they did, their purpose would certainly not be to advance human civilization!

"So what?" Jiang Ran's gaze turned cold. "So that's why you need enough power to destroy humanity? You're saying this to me, have you forgotten that I'm human too?"

"Friend, it seems you still can't escape the pathetic human mindset. Well then, tonight, everything will end. Goodnight, and never wake up again."

The walkie-talkie was left with only a beeping sound.

"Is this guy an idiot?" Gwen couldn't help but complain. "Putting aside his ideology, his plan to destroy humanity is underestimating humanity."

Even if these cyborg warriors are incredibly powerful, that's about it. Even if he had a cyborg army, they would be quickly defeated by human firearms. Isn't he underestimating modern technology?

“These cyborgs have indeed reached their limit.” Jiang Ran paced back and forth in the laboratory. “That’s why they stopped this research. No, or rather, this research was a smokescreen from the beginning. Their goal was never to cyborgs!”

"Gwen, try breaking these jars!"

"good!"

Gwen punched the jar, but was bounced back by a force!

These jars are protected by the power of rules and cannot be forcibly broken! This means that these items are important props in the plot, and if they are broken prematurely, the plot cannot proceed!

"Remember that man who said he was looking for something in the research lab on the first floor? I think we need to find that thing."

As the two searched, another key was found.

Jiang Ran now has two keys whose purpose is still uncertain. The first one was found in a hidden compartment on the fifth floor. It was a rather troublesome situation because it only had the key but no door.

At the same time, a ray of red light shone in from outside the window!

Jiang Ran looked up and saw that the originally bright moon had been stained with a red tinge. This red tinge quickly engulfed the entire moon in a very short time. In less than a minute, the moon in the sky was blood red!

[Rule 5: Please always pay attention to the moon outside the window. If the moon is normal, you may move freely as long as you do not violate other rules. If a blood moon occurs, please hide under the bed immediately until the blood moon ends.]

The blood moon has arrived!

The tiles on the ground shone with a blood-red light, and an extremely cold aura emanated from them!
