Chapter 338 Who's Lying?

The referee's words left everyone somewhat confused. Could someone be lying?

"I know you might be a little confused, so don't worry, let me explain the rules of the game carefully—"

"There will be 12 characters in the residential building. I want each of you to find these 12 people, ask them a specific question, and then remember each person's answer!"

"Of these 12 people, only one will lie in his/her answer. Each of you has only one chance to report to me and guess who is lying."

"If someone guesses correctly, they pass the level! If they guess incorrectly," the referee paused, then flashed a wide smile, "I'll kill them on the spot!"

After hearing the rules, many people had only one thought—this is way too simple!

That's right, it's simple. There are only 12 people in total. Theoretically, as long as 11 people try and fail, the 12th person will definitely get the correct answer. Would an SSS-level dungeon be so easy for them to clear?

Besides, even though guessing wrong would mean death, as long as they don't guess, wouldn't that be great? For these scoundrels, this is absolutely fantastic news!

However, several SSS-level ghost story tellers keenly discovered the trap in the rules. Although it is clearly stated that there are 12 people, the identities of these 12 people and what questions to ask them are unknown. If they want to pass the level, they must dig out this information!

However, this is an SSS-level world, and the dangers that can be detected on the surface are probably the easiest of all the dangers...

"Oh, right!" the referee reminded again, "During this game, all your external live streams will be shut down, and people outside will not be able to provide any hints or observe you!"

No one was too surprised; in fact, this was what gave it a bit of the feel of an SSS-level dungeon.

"Furthermore, no one may leave the game until someone has completed it! If anyone seriously injures or kills another Ghost Tale Master during this game, I will kill them immediately!"

The slackers complained bitterly; a world where they couldn't quit after the first day was like a colorless sky—utterly terrible! However, the latter rule, which restricted others, did, to some extent, ensure their safety.

"Alright, enough chit-chat, let the game begin!" The referee's eyes narrowed to slits. "Without any clues, it must be very difficult to find them, right? No problem, I can accept your bribes!"

Bribery? Is that even possible? But anything that can be used to bribe strange creatures is probably not a good thing.

"Here, I only want two things." The referee held up two fingers. "First, your lifespans. If you are willing to bribe me with ten years of your lifespan, I can tell you the name of a character from the story!"

A lifespan of ten years?!

Most people present shook their heads. Trading ten years of life for a chance to pass the game was something to consider. But if you can only change one person's name with ten years of life, who would be willing to trade with you?

"Secondly, I want a red stamp like this!" The referee pulled a coin-sized stamp from his pocket. "If you can bring this stamp to me, one stamp can be exchanged for a person's name. This is a very worthwhile deal for you."

Thus, everyone knew how to play the game: first, exchange stamps for information about the characters in the story; then, obtain the answers to the story from the characters; and finally, combine all the answers to determine which one was false!

"Alright, I have nothing more to say. Go find it yourselves."

The referee waved to the crowd, signaling that they could leave.

"Wait, don't rush!" A ghost storyteller from India stepped forward, pointing a finger directly at the referee. "I'm going to make my guess now!"

"You're the liar! Referee!"

This guy acted so quickly that it surprised everyone else, and he wasn't the only one who had the same idea.

The referee only said that the liar must be among those 12 people, but never said that he wasn't one of them! Maybe this is just a smokescreen!

But while it's a guess, guessing wrong could mean certain death, so no one was willing to be so reckless as to try it. Only this guy took the lead!

"Oh?" The referee's gaze sharpened. "Are you sure?"

"certainly!"

Under the confident gaze of the guy, he didn't wait for the referee to announce that he had passed the level, but instead received a huge slap in the face!

Snap!

The man's head was instantly slapped off, rolled several times on the ground, and fell into the sewer!

"You're being too clever for your own good." The referee pulled a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe the blood from his hands. "You've been reading too many novels."

"I see... Well, thank you for letting me know!"

The Indian guy's head flew off, but his body didn't fall down. The next moment, he grew a new head!

No wonder this guy was so confident to come up and try things out; it turns out he has a life-saving talent! If he guesses right, he will set an unprecedented record for clearing an SSS-level dungeon. Even if he fails, it will only consume one of his talent's opportunities.

"Is this where your confidence comes from?" The referee glanced at him disdainfully. "I told you, if you guess wrong, I will kill you."

"If you think you can survive by my hand, feel free to try!"

"Well......"

The Indian man suddenly clutched his neck, and a black smear spread rapidly from his previous wound, spreading throughout his entire body in just a few seconds!

He's carbonized!

"Is this the SSS-level dungeon? It really doesn't leave any room for error. But thanks to this guy, at least we've ruled out one wrong answer."

Apart from the other two Indian ghost story tellers, no one would feel sorry for him.

“Referee, I have another question,” Aransta stepped forward. “You only told us how to obtain the names of important characters in the plot, so how are we supposed to find out what questions to ask them?”

"If I've told you everything, what's the point of playing?" The referee chuckled irritably. "Find out the answer yourself. Of course, if someone's willing to bribe me with ten years of their lifespan, that's fine too!"

In other words, are the questions that need to be asked hidden around the characters in this story?

"Jiang Ran, perhaps I have a way to quickly find important characters in the plot."

Rusger turned his head.

"Oh? What?"

"Kill! Important characters in the plot certainly won't be killed, so those who can be killed must not be important characters in the plot. This might be a basis for judgment!"
