Chapter 402 Don't Let Shackles Bind Your World

I quickly pulled up my sleeves, trying to stop myself from looking at those disgusting things, but that horrific image still lingered in my mind, making me want to vomit!

I vomited up a clump of bloody stuff—it was a clump of red maggots! Hahaha! I finally understand why I'm completely cured. In a body like this, how can illness have any chance of survival?

I have become a monster, and even retreating will not change that fact. I looked up ahead and saw that Mr. Wheel of Fortune had turned into a twisted mass of tentacles, but he was still moving forward.

After a long period of stagnation, I took another step upwards.

So far, only my body has changed. I've decided to climb to the top and see what's up there! If I lose control of my will halfway there, I'll jump off the Stairway of God to prevent myself from becoming a monster.

I passed through the clouds and continued upwards, just walking like that. My legs had developed a mechanical movement, or perhaps they could no longer be called legs, but rather a tangled mass of tentacles constantly wriggling forward.

Apart from my thoughts, I am no longer myself.

Actually, I never noticed that the Stairway to God was getting wider and wider. I was no longer on Earth, but wandering in the astral plane. I don't know if a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand years have passed. I even forgot why I was here. The twenty-odd years of human life seem so small and insignificant in the face of such a long span of time.

Who am I? What is my name? Where am I going?

In the starry sky, only four distorted creatures, each the size of a star, remained. We looked at each other. The ladder of the gods had vanished. I could feel my consciousness surging towards a convergence point like a tide. I tried to grasp this power, to take control of these authorities!

I don't know how much time passed, but I completely mastered this power, controlling my body to shrink continuously until I finally took human form. I regained my appearance as Hellina, but I remembered nothing.

I grasped fragments of time and space, watching my past life like a movie. I know I was once Herlina, and I once participated in an adventure. It was clearly my own experience, but now it seems so unfamiliar to me.

In the astral realm, four "gods" were born!

There are no more Emperor, Pope, or Wheel of Fortune; there are only [Emperor], [Pope], and [Wheel of Fortune]. I could also choose my former code name [World] as my own divine name, but I did not choose that.

I am the [Shackles]. Hellina is dead, the world is dead, the starry sky is the shackles of the world, and God is the shackles of Hellina.

Time has lost its meaning for us; we can wander to any point in time. I returned to the time when Helina first started climbing the Stairway to God, and I just watched her quietly, not knowing why.

All the gods merged at the same point in time, and I finally met all the gods except for myself. Apart from the four of us, the other gods became gods at different times, but time had lost its meaning, so there was no need to talk about time anymore.

[Director] [Gravekeeper] [Pope] [Emperor] [Deathly Happiness] [Night Wanderer] [Great Sin] [Doll] [Black Crow] [Ascetic] [Shackles] [Wheel of Fortune]

We are the Twelve Gods.

Divinity has completed its final gathering; at no other point in time can a god be born, unless one of us falls.

In the starry sky, perhaps a second on Earth is equivalent to millions of years, or perhaps we only feel a second has passed, while Earth has already been destroyed and ceased to exist. We repeatedly travel through the cracks of time to condense divinity, but it seems that we stop there and can no longer go any further.

I once tried to create a world myself. Because of my manipulation of time, it was easy. I created a corresponding world based on the template of Earth and soon arrived at the age of dinosaurs. Being a creator is indeed a novel identity.

I continued to control the evolution of life, and soon arrived at the period of ancient humans, followed by the tribal era, and then the feudal dynasty!

My evolution failed.

When the life I created came to intelligent humans, I found that the humans I created were as dull as puppets, with intelligence no different from that of monkeys. They could not be called humans; they were merely things that looked similar to humans.

These humans lack the intelligence corresponding to their status!

I tore down this world and started over, repeating this process two or three times, only to end up with failure again.

Do you know why you failed?

The Wheel of Fortune appeared behind me.

"I can wield the power of time, but I cannot perfectly manipulate the power of life..."

I once tried to oxidize apes over an infinite period of time, but their intelligence did not improve significantly. Just like dinosaurs that have lived for hundreds of millions of years are still dinosaurs, and rats will remain rats no matter how long they live.

Wisdom belongs to creation, it is the authority of life. I can use it, but only superficially. Even if I give myself unlimited time, I still cannot break through this point.

"If it were natural evolution, apes would naturally evolve into Homo sapiens. The only difference would be the amount of time. But for you and me, even hundreds of millions of years would be like the blink of an eye, and it wouldn't matter at all."

I quickly understood what He meant: "Are you saying that from the very beginning when I created this life, I already limited its potential?"
