Chapter 407 This Strange Town

"This is the currency we use for trading, called Tian Guang Coin. If you can't get Tian Guang Coin, you can't do anything here. So I suggest you find some work to do, at least earn some money to eat."

"Okay, I understand, thank you."

Making money was never difficult for them. The group ventured deep into the town, and Gwen used her silk threads to plunder the pockets of passersby, quickly accumulating several hundred Tian Guang coins.

Furthermore, they discovered that the food and water here were normal and edible, requiring no additional purification step.

Rusger clapped his hands: "It's not far from our base, less than an hour's drive. We can buy supplies here and then transport them back to the base!"

"That's indeed a good idea," Jiang Ran nodded. "Let's search for information here for a day and see if we can figure out what's going on in this town. We'll transport the supplies back tomorrow."

The group split into two groups for the time being: Rusgerer stayed with Aransta, while Jiang Ran took two girls and a dog with him.

The town is not very modernized; mobile phones are not yet common, and the lighting is provided by old-fashioned, low-quality electric lights.

Jiang Ran arrived at a tavern and, amidst the noise, chose an empty table to sit down. Not long after he sat down, a little boy ran over.

"Judging from your clothes, you must be people from out of town," the little boy chuckled. "I wonder what brings you here?"

"We were just passing by."

"I've never been outside, and I haven't seen anyone from outside in a long time," the little boy said, leaning closer. "Could you tell me what it's like outside? I don't know why the mayor keeps forbidding us from going out, and those who have gone out have never come back..."

Haven't seen anyone from outside in a long time? In other words, have you seen them before?

"How long ago did the people who came here last time? What did they look like? I might even recognize them."

Jiang Ran asked the question as if it were just a casual remark.

"I don't know about that. It was probably three years ago. I only saw it from afar. I heard that the person left after staying there for a short time."

The little boy fiddled with the alcoholic beverage in front of him, stirred it with a spoon, and then drank half of it in one gulp!

"Ah! That feels great!"

"Drinking alcohol at such a young age? That's not a good habit."

"It's no big deal, it's a small problem for me!" The little boy burped and began to introduce himself, "I'm Song Yang. There's nothing I don't know in Tianguang Town! So if you have any questions, feel free to ask me!"

Gwen covered her mouth and laughed: "Haha, you were just saying you didn't know who the person who came in earlier was, and now you're saying you know everything about Tianguang Town?"

"Ahem!" Song Yang's face flushed slightly, whether from the alcohol or embarrassment, it was hard to tell. "Besides this, besides this..."

Did outsiders come here three years ago? Three years ago, Earth wasn't as full of strange things as it is now, and its connection with the world of ghost stories was only in its early stages. Logically speaking, this town shouldn't have existed at all back then.

Perhaps no one came here three years ago, and this place didn't even exist three years ago. It's just a "setting" in the minds of the residents, perhaps to make it less abrupt for outsiders to come later.

"We don't have any questions for now, so why don't you tell us about any interesting topics here?"

Jiang Ran took a sip of the drink she had casually ordered; it tasted slightly bitter with a hint of lemon.

“There are so many interesting things to tell, I could talk about them for seven days and seven nights!” Song Yang made an exaggerated expression. “For example, there’s Mared, the dog kingpin in town. He has four dogs and takes them out for a walk every day. But I heard that he only had three dogs three years ago. I don’t know why he suddenly has four. Maybe he brought them back from somewhere.”

"And then there's Madam Yang. She's clearly in her thirties, but she looks like she's just turned twenty. She's very beautiful and has a large [figure/size]..."

What kind of garbage is in this guy's head...?

"Oh, right! You've just arrived, so I need to tell you the rules here!" Song Yang suddenly became serious. "The laws in Tianguang Town are very strict! So don't hurt anyone here! And absolutely no stealing!"

"Otherwise, the consequences will be dire!"

"Also, there's a guy on East Street called White Hand. He's unemployed and has no wife. He just wanders the streets all day long, often getting drunk and causing trouble. The worst part is that he really, really dislikes outsiders! If you run into him, you'd better stay far away!"

“The residents here all know each other, so it’s fine for each other to stay overnight. But as outsiders, you should try to stay in hotels.”

Jiang Ran couldn't help but wonder, "Does a secluded town like this even have a hotel?" According to the residents' mindset, outsiders only come once every few years, and only a few at a time. So what's the point of building a hotel?

"Alright, I won't say any more. The boss is waiting for my help!" Song Yang said with a soft laugh as he took his leave. "I'm always at the tavern. You can come find me anytime except when you're sleeping!"

Outsiders cannot stay overnight here, so they can only go to hotels. Jiang Ran does not believe that there is nothing strange about this town; the fact that it exists here is already very strange.

However, this isn't a mystery dungeon, so Jiang Ran doesn't need to think about how to clear it. He can simply use this town as a way to replenish his supplies.

But if that's all there is to it, he'll probably never find the opportunity to become a god! Jiang Ran's primary goal is to awaken his true [miracle], which means he needs to find something dangerous to do!

"Our initial goal is to investigate the unusual situation in this town. If we encounter other similar areas later, we'll have some information to back us up."

"gentlemen."

Jiang Ran turned her head and saw yet another person trying to strike up a conversation.

"I am Marid. May I ask if the dog you have with you is for sale?"

Is this the same rich dog that Song Yang mentioned before? This guy is wearing a decent shirt, so he's not from the lower class. And his reason for seeking out Jiang Ran is that he's taken a liking to the big black dog?

"Sorry, not for sale."

“That’s such a shame.” Marid handed over a business card. “If you ever consider selling this dog, sir, you can come to this address to find me.”

"Then I won't bother you any longer."

Marid walked towards the tavern entrance, and Jiang Ran could still vaguely see the four large dogs he had tied up at the door.
