Chapter 186 The Attic Incident

The three turned and walked into a side path. Gwen stabbed a pair of scissors into the bushes beside her, pulling out a skinny little devil.

Its eyes were closed and its limbs were withered, just like a newborn baby that had mutated!

“This Master Zha Pian is definitely not some charlatan who only knows how to swindle money. He does have some skills, but unfortunately, they're not on the right path.” Jiang Ran gestured for Gwen to discard the little ghost's corpse. “Whether it's this ghost marriage or anything else, I don't know if the changes to the plot in the underworld will affect the surface world, but the key to clearing the game definitely lies here!”

"Yu Cheng, we need to split up!" Jiang Ran handed Ren Xiaodie's letter back to Yu Cheng. "Now, go and give this letter to Xu Ying. We'll split up, and if we encounter any danger, our own safety is the priority!"

“We were supposed to be secretly looking for an opportunity, but I’m not going to do that!” Jiang Ran’s eyes darkened. “Because I have enough cards in my hand!”

Yu Cheng nodded. They weren't the only ghost storytellers to enter the world; there were others who could obtain the key, and they would find Ren Xiaodie's room sooner or later. With the observer's hint, they might even be on their way here!

For example, Alansta, Han Xiaodong and others, once they also enter the inner world, will inevitably have a certain impact on Jiang Ran's actions. Therefore, Jiang Ran needs to do as much as possible in the limited time. He doesn't need to pass the level directly, but at least he needs to create enough distance between himself and them!

They still need to find out where Xu Ying lives, which is an unavoidable process. Jiang Ran also has another thing to do!

After parting ways with Yu Cheng, Jiang Ran and Gwen went around to the back of the main house. After making sure no one was around, the two climbed out of the second-floor window of the main house!

"What exactly is Master Zha Pian's purpose? Why did he plan this wedding?" Gwen was still a little confused. "What benefit does it bring him?"

"He's raising ghosts!" Jiang Ran looked around, avoiding the gazes of people who occasionally appeared, and whispered to Gwen, "This guy isn't an ordinary person. I don't think the final destruction of this village was due to any plague at all!"

This is a world of ghost stories, anything can happen! And this guess is the most likely!

"What we need to do is stop him before that happens."

With the physical enhancement provided by the Thousand Jewel Seal, and Gwen being a strange creature himself, both of them were quite skilled. They quickly moved through the main room and approached the attic after taking several detours!

"Given the current timeline, hopefully she's still alive..."

Based on previous experience, Jiang Ran and Gwen opened the secret door and entered the attic!

At first glance, the attic was still empty.

Jiang Ran turned to look at the large box next to him, and sure enough, a small foot was sticking out. Perhaps sensing Jiang Ran's gaze, the small foot retracted.

"Stop hiding, this is the only thing that can keep people out of this place."

"Huh? That's boring..." The little girl walked out disappointedly, looking Jiang Ran and Gwen up and down with her big eyes. "Who... are you?"

Sure enough! Although the little girl was a bit dirty, she had no wounds and was breathing normally. She was definitely alive!

"Big brother, why aren't you saying anything?"

"It's alright." Jiang Ran took the initiative by patting her head. "Little sister, can you come with us?"

Jiang Ran felt like a human trafficker, but he didn't have the mind to think about any sales pitches right now. Getting straight to the point was the most time-saving and effortless way!

"Want to come with big brother?" The little girl bit her finger and tilted her head. "No! Uncle Ren won't let me leave here! Otherwise, I'll get a beating..."

creak—

Just as Jiang Ran was preparing to take the next step, a sound came from the hidden door. Jiang Ran immediately pulled Gwen and the little girl to hide behind a box!

The reason the little girl was brought along was because she had always wanted to play the ghost game before, and her sudden appearance outside would inevitably arouse suspicion from the visitors!

Ren Tianze familiarly opened the hidden door. He seemed to have heard someone running just now, but that was perfectly normal. It must be that little thing hiding again.

Sure enough, there was no one in sight.

"Come out, sacrifice, stop hiding."

As usual, Ren Tianze called out to the little girl.

"Little sister, let's play a game—" Jiang Ran leaned close to the little girl's ear, "Do you want to give your Uncle Ren a big scare?"

Before the little girl could even utter a word, Jiang Ran covered her mouth.

"Shh—if you make a sound now, you won't be able to scare your Uncle Ren." Jiang Ran lowered his voice and continued, "Wait a bit, you go out first, but don't tell your Uncle Ren we're here. Then, when he's not paying attention, we'll go out and give him a surprise! How about that?"

The little girl nodded, and Jiang Ran let go of her hand.

"Waaah!"

The little girl jumped out, but Ren Tianze was prepared for this and wasn't scared. He simply beckoned her over as usual and handed her a large rice ball.

"Eat."

"Uh-huh!"

The little girl took a bite and looked at the rice ball in her hand with some surprise. Inside was a large piece of braised pork. You know, the rice balls that Ren Tianze brought her before only had some pickled vegetables, but never meat!

"Uncle Ren, is today a special day?"

"Don't worry about it, just focus on your meal."

Ren Tianze looked down at the little girl, a hint of pity flashing in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by indifference.

After the little girl finished her rice ball in a few bites, Ren Tianze drew a short sword about half a meter long that gleamed with a cold light from behind him and took a step forward!

"Gwen! Do it!"

Jiang Ran suddenly sprang to his feet, kicking over the box. Ren Tianze's attention was instantly drawn to it, while Gwen rushed toward him at the same time!

"What are you two trying to do?! Stop!"

"I'd like to ask you what you're planning to do!"

Ren Tianze sensed something was wrong and immediately thrust the short sword in his hand towards the little girl!

"No matter what! Just die first! This is a necessary sacrifice!"

"Don't even think about it!"

Gwen threw the large scissors in her hand. The blades spun rapidly in the air, slicing Ren Tianze's arm and causing the short sword in his hand to fall to the ground!

The little girl was startled by the sudden turn of events and fell to the ground with a thud. Jiang Ran stepped forward to shield her and helped her up.

"It's alright now, stand behind me!"

Blood dripped from his fingers to the ground as Ren Tianze stared at Jiang Ran with a gloomy gaze.

"Little Immortal Master, aren't you going to explain this to me?!"
