Chapter 109 Going to the Northwest

Because Huo Xiao and his wife were moving out, the family gave them an extra 100 jin of grain. Although this wasn't mentioned when the family divided the property, no one in the family objected.

Needless to say, there was Ye Weiwei's dowry, and then there were Huo Xiao's things too; when you looked through them, there was quite a lot.

When they moved, Wu Dayou and his wife came over to help.

Even the younger ones, like Xiaoshan and Xiaochuan, volunteered to help, not wanting to be left behind. Ye Weiwei had no choice but to let Xiaochuan and Xiaxia hang the water bottles on their bodies. Seeing the two of them proudly puffing out their little chests, she found them so cute that she gave their little faces a good pinch.

Xiaoshan and Xiaoxia were carrying washbasins and lunchboxes, while Xiaoqiu was holding a soap box and smiling broadly.

With the whole family pitching in, plus Wu Dayou and his wife, it took two trips to move all the belongings.

After moving his things, Wu Dayou strolled around the yard and, seeing that he didn't have much firewood left, went home and brought over several bundles of firewood.

Wu Dayou's wife tied her youngest daughter to her front with a strip of cloth and helped Ye Weiwei wipe all the furniture in the house clean.

Ye Weiwei saw that she had a child with her, so how could she let her do it? But she refused. Judging from how nimbly she worked, and how the little baby in front of her was quiet and well-behaved without crying or fussing, it was clear that she did this often. Ye Weiwei saw that she couldn't stop her, so she stopped trying.

Although Zhao Yue'e's childbirth was dangerous and she almost lost her life, Wu Dayou took good care of her during her postpartum period. Now that the family has separated and she is no longer bothered by her mother-in-law, and her troublesome sister-in-law has also gotten married, she is living a comfortable life and her complexion has visibly improved a lot.

Their daughter, Jiajia, was also fed until her chubby little face was very cute. When Ye Weiwei was examining her, she secretly channeled some wood-type supernatural power into her. The little one stared at her with her big, black grape-like eyes and happily babbled at her, her little hand gripping one of her fingers and refusing to let go. Ye Weiwei had no choice but to pick her up, but who knew that once she picked her up, she couldn't let go. The little one was very clever. Her mother wanted to take her home, but as soon as she was taken, she closed her eyes and started wailing loudly. After Ye Weiwei took her home, she immediately stopped crying, but just whimpered as if she had suffered a great injustice.

Several times in a row, Zhao Yue'e was so anxious that she didn't know what to do.

Wu Dayou ran in from outside, thinking something was wrong with his daughter. After understanding the reason, he burst out laughing.

"Look how clever you are, already judging by looks at such a young age. A child doesn't despise their mother for being ugly, you know?"

As he spoke, he took his daughter from her and, just as she was about to cry again, he held her and rocked her gently. Sure enough, the little one's attention was diverted, and she stopped crying.

After cleaning up, Ye Weiwei wanted to invite them to stay for dinner, but she couldn't keep any of them; they all ran away faster than rabbits.

After Zhao Yue'e and Wu Dayou returned home, she grabbed Wu Dayou's ear and angrily asked, "Who did you just call ugly?"

Wu Dayou cried out for mercy: "Wife, be gentle! I'm ugly, I'm ugly, okay!"

Zhao Yue'e gave him a playful glare, "You know that's good!"

After moving to their new home, Ye Weiwei and Huo Xiao began preparing for their trip to the Northwest.

Ye Weiwei is making pills at home.

She made some pills from the ginseng she dug up last time and gave them to her uncle to take away. She then made the rest and divided them into two portions: one to take to her family in the Northwest and the other to her in-laws. She didn't care how they would distribute them.

Four more life-saving pills were made, and they were also divided in half on both sides.

Of course, this is what's out in the open. In reality, she had already prepared pills and such for her family in her spatial storage. Now she's just finding an excuse to make it public.

Liu Guilan was surprised by Ye Weiwei's big surprise, especially after learning that ginseng was added to the pills.

But she knew that Ye Weiwei was going to the Northwest to visit her family, where the environment was not good, and that Weiwei's parents needed these things more than they did. So she said, "Weiwei, it's a waste to use these good things on us. I know how thoughtful you are. Take these to your parents; they need them more than we do."

Ye Weiwei: "Don't worry, my parents have also prepared something. We have something for both sides, so we won't favor either side."

Liu Guilan refused: "You child! Look at the situation over there, and look at the situation at home. There are priorities in everything. I know what kind of life those people in the cowshed in our village are living. This is not the time for you to be impartial. Listen to me, take it all to your parents."

As for Weiwei's parents, they can only visit them once or twice a year at most, and they can never have too many of these good things.

But what could possibly happen to them at home, with Weiwei, this miracle doctor, by their side every day?

Ye Weiwei felt a warmth in her heart from Liu Guilan's words, but she still took out a small portion of the pills and kept one of the two life-saving pills. Seeing that she was so determined and that her son did not object, Liu Guilan accepted them. However, she hurriedly made several pairs of thick cotton shoes and socks for Ye Weiwei to take with her.

Seeing that Ye Weiwei had prepared quite a lot of things, she helped check them over, took them out to air them, and carefully packed them away.

They went to the village and bought 200 jin of grain for Ye Weiwei to take with her. They also packed the dried rabbit and wild boar meat from their home. In just two days, they packed three large packages.

Ye Weiwei didn't stand on ceremony with Liu Guilan.

She definitely needed these things as cover to make it easier to take things out of the space.

But she wouldn't take the meat from the house for free.

The only train tickets to the Northwest were for the evening, so I asked Fang Ming to help me buy a sleeper ticket.

On the day of their departure, Ye Weiwei and Huo Xiao got up early and went for a walk in the mountains. They brought back two roe deer, five rabbits, and four pheasants. Then, Huo Xiao called his parents over to take care of them and bring them back.

Liu Guilan complained to Huo Xiao for not letting Weiwei sleep properly early in the morning and taking her up the mountain to run around, but she was still very satisfied with her youngest son's actions.

While boiling water and cooking, she kept nagging the two of them about things to be careful about while traveling, and she didn't stop talking until she dropped them off at the village entrance.

"You'd better protect your wife on the way. If Weiwei suffers any injustice, you'll see what I do to you when we get back!"

Huo Xiao kept assuring her that he would bring her back safely before she felt at ease.

It feels like ever since he got a wife, he's no longer his mother's favorite son.

The two had a lot of stuff, so they found a village oxcart to take it to town, and then had Fang Ming drive them to the county train station.

While waiting for the car, Ye Weiwei told Fang Ming to go back to work, but Fang Ming insisted on seeing them off to the car. He was worried because they had brought too much stuff and he wouldn't feel at ease if he didn't help them get on the bus.

The train was delayed, and they had to wait another half hour before they could finally board.

Fang Ming was thinking of carrying one with Huo Xiao and then lifting the other one onto the car together, but as soon as he hoisted his own onto his shoulder, he saw Ye Weiwei carrying the remaining one, and he was immediately dumbfounded.

"Sister-in-law! Put it down quickly, don't break it!"
